I am the mother of a 10 year old boy with autism and I applied for assistance in October this year by getting on a list for a Walmart gift card to help purchase a gift for him at Christmas . With one parent working and then onto unemployment it is a struggle to provide a good dinner a few decorations for cheer and a few gifts under the tree . The best i could hope for was that there would be enough funds to make it to us on the list. Today is November 22nd ...the last thing on my mind was the Walmart gift card because 2 days ago I laid his big brother to rest. An untimely passing of a 24 yr old young man who meant everything to his little brother. We have suffered a huge loss. The cost of the services were too much...we had to settle for another way and we fundraised for that service.
Today was a blessing to us and a message to me not to get so wrapped up in what Ive lost that I forget what I have. I give many thanks to everyone that shares and donates to the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation. Your donations make an impact on many lives that are truly grateful. Love and Thanks...Mom.
