Review for Wild Song Productions Inc, , CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The people are great and the productions are wildly entertaining!!! They have put stellar productions like Next To Normal, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Tick Tick Boom, The Secret Garden, Spring Awakening and It: A Pennywise Parody Musical!!! My experience with them has been great having done two productions with them, Assassins and Beauty and The Beast which is currently in production (we close on the 18th so don’t miss out). I look forward to many more productions with this company and I’m glad they welcomed me into this family!!!

Review for Poinsettia Center For The Arts/DBA Star Theatre Company, Oceanside, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

May 25th 2010, exactly 10 years, 4 months and 11 days ago. That is the day I first auditioned for a show at the Star Theatre Company in Oceanside!!! Before I came to the Star, I was a 22 year old struggling young actor who tried so desperately to get into a show only to be turned down almost every time. I was even told by some of my teachers at Mira Costa that I was missing a few things in order to make it as a performer. It was that very moment where I thought I needed to go somewhere where no one knows me and knew that I was very inexperienced.

My very first show at the Star was All Shook Up, an Elvis Presley jukebox musical which is also based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. I was cast as one of the leads in that show and David Schulz, the director, knew how to work with someone of my inexperience. I was very happy with the way that show worked out and was a major confidence builder in my theatre experience.

Since All Shook Up, I have been pretty much in every place in a Star Theatre production from ensemble, to small feature characters to strong supporting characters to prove that I was a valuable asset to their productions. I was never once was bored, frustrated several times but never bored.

David Schulz, the artistic director of the Star Theatre Company, has an incredible imagination for theatre and performing. Learning from his mom, Ann Schulz, who was artistic director before him, he has built up a reputation as being a leader by nature and by example. With him , I and many others have learned how to do the show with intention, how to work with clarity, how to treat people with respect. HE IS INFURIATINGLY GOOD AT HIS JOB!!!

Overall, the Star Theatre Company is a phenomenal place to do theatre and during this extended intermission, they are currently offering acting, music and dance classes for both kids and adults . I guarantee that when this pandemic is over, anyone who feels like they’re struggling to fit in somewhere or looking for add more to their resume and new tricks in their arsenal, the Star Theatre Company is definitely the answer!!! As David Schulz would say, “Let It Fly and Theatre Inspires!!!”
