POGO is one of the most informative sites on the internet, containing stories of import and impact not covered by our corporate media, both print and electronic. They do break stories, some of which break through to conventional news outlets. They are an essential adjunct for anyone wanting to know what is really going on around them and beyond the horizon.

This review will not have to be very long. My first bilet in the US Navy was in intelligence, so I am more than familiar with the issues dealt with by POGO and I regard them is among the VERY best investigative journalism groups anywhere. The information they provide is invariably accurate, detailed, cogent, well organized and logically presented. I frequently interact with my Senators and Member of Congress and the command of fact and policy given to me by studying what information POGO provides is invaluable. What I say and write to them gets a serious audience, simply because POGO gives me a command of fact and background.

I will be brief. What is most appreciated by me the the no nonsense of going to the courts for redress of ecological damage and, further, doing so in a timely manner to prevent environmental damage or harm to sensitive species. The combination of sound science, first rate legal skill and wide spread vigilance makes the CBD part of the most effective of environmental defense groups. What is also most gratifying is the method with which the accomplish outreach to the public. Once reached, the people who respond to the CBD are the most loyal and responsive anywhere, and that includes myself. When I am asked to name what environmental groups I consider to be the most effective, the CBD comes to mind immediately.
