Our cat Oliver (Ollie) has been having ongoing urinary issues for a little over a month. We took him to his vet and they couldn’t seem to find a for sure answer for us as to why he wasn’t using the litter box and seemed to be straining to go to the bathroom. They had done xrays and urinary infection tests on him that both came back negative for infection and blockage that they could see. Once he started bleeding in his urine in odd places, we took him back and they treated him with antibiotics and steroids. He did well on those for about a week and a half and then he started bleeding in his urine again. His vet recommended we take him to the emergency vet as they were full the day before July 4th. We took him to an emergency vet in Columbia and were told he had a blockage (which we suspected) and that he would need a very pricey surgery to fix it and they would need to keep our baby for several nights. As much as we love our kitty, it was an expense we just could not afford at this time. They recommended For the Love of Alex, an amazing nonprofit group who would possibly allow us to keep our kitty and also pay for his surgery. We applied and were accepted that same night! We are so grateful to this group and after 2 nights in the hospital we were able to take our kitty back home. Unfortunately we did find out he also has a heart murmur and needs treatment for that, too, but he is doing well now after being home and on new medications and a new diet. We are so thankful for people who have hearts for animals like we do! Please share and donate to give this group the opportunity to continue helping animals like our baby Ollie!
