Review for Medical Mutts Service Dogs Inc, Indianapolis, IN, USA
I am training my rescue dog for panic attacks and acute stress related anxiety. I was directed to Medical Mutts Academy from one of my previous private trainers as they were the only ones with positive-only training that also offered online classes (crucial during covid times). From the initial assessment of my rescue dog, I got the feeling that not only are the staff at Medical Mutts thorough and honest about what is to be expected of service dogs and their training, but also they were super understanding and willing to work with my dog who tends to be on the shy side of dog personalities.
We just finished level 1 of the course and we cannot recommend MMA enough. The group classes are sized appropriately where the trainer(s) can provide you direct feedback -- live during the session, or via email too -- and the best part is, if you and your dog are not ready to move on to the next level, you can retake the previous level at no cost.
Given that the service dog regulations are very loosely defined and many dog owners cut corners to "certify" their dogs to be service dogs resulting in "service dogs" without proper public access training, it's refreshing to find a community where legitimate service dog training is affordable (compared to just purchasing a service dog) and where they prioritize making sure service dogs aren't frowned upon by ensuring proper training and behavior.
Thank you MMA for the opportunity to train my own rescue dog to be my service dog!
Review for Muddy Paws Rescue, New York, NY, USA
I started volunteering with Muddy Paws back in May 2018, and I can't express how amazing the journey has been so far. From the beginning, the team is by your side, always open to questions and willing to help if you're not sure about something. Other volunteer experiences I've had felt like I'm clocking in and clocking out, but MPR really does feel like a community -- I'm so proud to be / love being a part of it!
