Review for Texas Chihuahua Rescue, Inc, Pleasanton, TX, USA

Rating: 1 stars

My husband and I have been looking to adopt a rescued small breed for months. We saw the Texas Chihuahua Group had been bringing dogs to Canada and were excited to have an opportunity to possibly bring a dog to Richmond Hill, Ontario from Texas. Unfortunately the woman I dealt with who said she was in charge of "GTA adoptions" was not very friendly and quite rude on the phone and in her emails. She kept "forgetting" and "misplacing" information that I had already provided to her. It took so long for her to complete my "reference checks" that the dog we had our heart set on was adopted to someone else and she did not seem very apologetic. She did tell me was that this was not her "real" job and she and her husband were just volunteers. Her attitude stunk! The Texas people were very friendly by email and phone, but the Canadian person for the GTA area was rude, unhelpful and gave the impression I was inconveniencing her by asking questions. I was also informed that I was too old to adopt a puppy which I thought was quite rude as to me, she was implying I would die and leave the puppy behind. Of course I would ensure there was a home for our dog with a family member or friendddd if something should happen to my husband and I down the road. What a disappointment. A few months ago we found a sweet pair of young dogs at "The Dog Sanctuary". They had to stay together and we were happy to take them both. "The Dog Sanctuary" treated us like we were angels saving these 2 lovely dogs and did not even ask us how old we were! They processed our application quickly and treated us with the utmost respect the entire process. Our experience was so positive we are now monthly Donors to "The Dog Sanctuary". Ontario has lots of great rescue groups who have their priorities right! I inquired about potentially becoming a monthly donor but the Canadian branch is not a registered charity and can NOT give out tax receipts. Hopefully Texas Chihuahua-Canada smartens up and gets it right but if they don't, there are many alternatives to find your next dog like The Dog Sanctuary!
