It was a pleasure working with Texas Chihuahua Rescue, Inc. They paid great attention to my application and I really respected how thorough they were in checking references. The interview/home check was also well organized and made perfect sense. On "Gotcha Day," the volunteers were extremely organized and handled each of the dogs with lots of care. I was very happy with the information provided to me regarding my dog prior to his transport day, as well as relieved that so many of his medical was taken care of ahead of time (neutered and up to date on vaccines). I love my little guy and I am so happy I found him through this amazing rescue.

Two amazing experiences we have had up here in Buffalo, NY with TCR. The fosters are awesome along with the awesome transport team...they actually went a few miles out of their way so we didn't have to load the kids in the car late at night to pick our little up. Thank you!

We adopted our little Eva from Texas Chihuahua rescue, our coordinator did an outstanding job getting us connected with her. It was extremely easy progress and they are doing a fantastic job taking care of these foster puppies. I would totally recommend them to everybody I know who wants to get a puppy.

I adopted Eddie from TXCR and the support that I have received from my coordinator and foster mom has been acceptional. I experienced prompt and comforting responses from them. Eddie is a quick learner and we are adjusting beautifully. I can not thank TXCR and all the staff enough for matching up Eddie and me. We will be forever grateful.

We adopted 5 year old Tucker [TXRC Donovan] in the past month. We receive ongoing support from the adoption coordinator which is appreciated. Communication with TXRC through the application to adopt was thorough and appropriate to ensure we were the best home for Tucker.

We adopted our boys from TX Chihuahua Rescue earlier this month and had the best experience! Tamie handled their adoption with care, kindness, and professionalism. She maintained strong communication throughout the process and helped us get the boys all the way from TX to TN! We are so grateful to Tamie for all her support throughout the adoption process, for Kimberly transporting the boys safely across a great distance during winter, and for Jean helping with their microchip registration. Meet Lily! I have been searching for a small dog for some time. I saw Lily’s picture on the Texas Chihuahua Rescue. The minute I saw her I knew she was the one. I had been in contact with Tami and she helped us make the connection. It was a seamless process and I am happy to recommend this rescue to anyone looking for a well prepared and healthy dog. As you can see she is fitting in perfect with our labs. Thank you Tami and all the selfless workers. ❤️

After losing both of our dogs in the summer of 2023, the time finally came for us to adopt again. My 14-year-old daughter and I fell in love with Sticky the moment we saw his picture on the TXCR site. After our application was approved, we made the 2-hour trip from Austin to meet him. We were both so happy to see how clean the space was and how happy the animals were. Tamie was kind and helpful. She placed about 8 puppies in the room with us and Sticky immediately ran for my daughter's lap. A match made in heaven! But it didn't end there. Little Penny (then Percy) nuzzled into my neck and the decision was made. 2 puppies! Thank you so much for all that you do for these babies and seniors. We are thrilled with our babies and with the experience we had with TXCR.

Angels, truly all the people that are involved in helping all these unwanted, unloved animals are true angels!! My sweet Oakley and his sister were to be euthanized and TCR jumped in and saved their lives! As soon as I seen sweet Oakley's face and heard his story I knew he would be a good fit for our family. The process was very smooth and quick. They do their research on potential adopters to ensure their pups are adopted to the best homes and will be loved forever! I can’t thank them enough for allowing us to love this spunky little guy, he is such an amazing addition to our family!

Such an amazing rescue! We adopted our little Dani in April 2024 and she is more than we could have ever imagined! She is the sweetest puppy who loves chewing, playing with her brother and demands snuggles every night. We can’t thank the Texas Chihuahua Rescue enough for saving Dani and bringing her into our lives.

We adopted our puppy in November from TCR and as a Canadian who connected with many rescues, this one was the best. Communication was excellent. Our puppy arrived with all its documentation and is a real sweetheart. Our little one is healthy , growing like a weed and a wonderful personality with everyone. You will not go wrong with TCR and connect with the Canadian counterpart if you live in Canada. These people are angels for these little lost furkids.

When my husband saw Molly (now Kali) it was love at first sight. Just like all the others we have adopted from TXCR she was just as her bio said. She fits in so well with our pack. Now we have 3 young dogs as well as our 2 seniors she maybe our last but who knows. If we ever adopt again I know where he/she will come from.

I started as an adopter with the rescue six years ago after they brought me my first chi baby up from Texas, and we just fell in love. Since then I have worked as an adoption coordinator and now a foster parent. I have never known an organization run by more dedicated and caring humans.

This team save the lives of countless animals monthly, and this massive operation is run by an all-volunteer network. Every person on the team cares so much for the animals as well as their human families. It is truly the most special group I’ve had the privilege of working with.

I am a repeat adopter with 2 babies at home now and had 2 seniors in the past who have crossed over!! My admiration goes out to all the individuals who donate their time, love and support with every adoption. The fullness and love in my home is in part because of this amazing organization!! We adopted Miss Scruff now known as Rosie, and are proud to call her our baby!
The adoption/approval process was great and left no stone uncovered to make sure all dogs were getting the right homes and fit for the family.
Rosie arrived in Canada on the December 21st shuttle and went into foster care as we were out of the country. Rosie’s foster family, Lindsay and James could not have exceeded our expectations any higher. The communication was amazing with ongoing pictures and updates. We arranged to meet on Boxing Day, and they were kind enough to meet me 1/2 way of a two hour drive. Are they not the kindest people? I literally can’t say enough good things about them! We will always be forever grateful for them!
Our Rosie did not have good early start to life and is very timid and fearful at times, but we giving her the reassurance to be more confident . She is eager to please and proving to be very intelligent.. hello treat bowl! We have registered for training and are so excited about life with her. I have a little bag for her and we went grocery shopping and she just settled in and hung out while I did my thing. The future is bright

We anxiously awaited the arrival of our sweet little firbaby FAITH 9re named ELSA) Firstly I would like to mention the organization of this rescue, from Texas to Ancaster Ontario. The communication from them was so impressive. We had every bit of information we needed to actually pick up our new little girl. So organised and friendly we were so happy with the hand over. She has been with us for almost a week and she settled so quickly it feels like she has been with us for ever. We love our little ELSA and she is already the boss, took her just 2 days to go to the door for potty, sleeps in my bed all night.Cuddles and kisses she has in spades. We are 2 seniors and are so thrilled. After losing our last dog in August our home was empty, now we have a resaon to get up in the morning as she insists we do. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We are over the moon with our new little puppy ������. She arrived as SKITTLES and we soon changed her name to Missy. She is part Chihuahua and… now believe she is part WHIPPET. She has legs that go on for ever. She is a snuggly little girl. She has been doing great with her bath room duties and appears to feel very comfortable with us! We take her everywhere and she is so well behaved. The volunteers who brought us to her were amazing. It’s so obvious how much everyone loves these little animals. Thank you for all that you do.

Hello! I adopted Thor a few weeks ago from this organization. I have been having so much fun with him it has taken me awhile to get to this story. The lady who did the interview was so amazing. I had seen a little dog i thought would be a good match, but unfortunately by the time I got my information through to the agency, she had been adopted. This lady talked to me about what i would be looking for. She told me about Thor! He is a chihuahua x. 9 years old and 5 lbs….and such a good boy….i adore him❤️
He was being fostered in Toronto and this lady had met him, and could see what a lovely little soul he is……but i cant have a yappy dog because i live in a condo.
Well I picked him up, and it was love the first night. He has hardly barked….once he let out a little bark when he thought there was a stranger in the house …… he was warning me!
The adoption process is quite involved but they are very fussy about getting these little guys into a safe loving forever home. They sent him off with vet papers from their vets ….his shots are all up to date….he is micro chipped…..he had dental work…. He is very sociable with dogs and cats….they told me this…and he is. He is also very good with potty training….someone has taught him stuff lol. He walks out on a leash, goes p&p outside on walks but also will use a pee pad inside. It has been a great experience working with these people. They are truly a good and caring organization. I am so happy to have gotten Thor, he is a little gem…….I would like to thank all the people who took such good care of him until we found each other.

Adopted Sid (Emerson) and Diego (Poe) and couldn’t be happier with these two pups! My experience with TCRCanada has been fantastic! I had filled out applications with multiple rescues, TCR was the fastest at completing the application process. It was evident to me that they were more professional, more organized and after having my video interview, I was more impressed with the thorough questions, which also helps me, the adopter, know they care about who is adopting their rescues! I've have a 3lb chihuahua for 13 years. She is very sweet and a bit busy. I thought she needs a younger beother around to give her energy. So, I adopted Bear, a beautiful 4 month old who can't sit close enough to you. He is so intelligent and what a talker if you are not right up in front of him. It was love at first site for me. My older dog was used to and like being the only child. She seldom plays with bear but she's interested and alway watching. It been almost a year and not much change but he knows she's the Queen and accepts it and every now and again she let him clearn her ears. It's very sweet. Her health is failling but he checks on her several times a day and blows off her old lady growls. I love it. What she doesn't give him I do. Thank you for filling my life with more love. Always room.

Nothing but exceptional. Everyone at this rescue was professional and loving. It was well organized. We had a completely flawless adoption process. TCR helped me find my perfect doggo match.

What a great nonprofit rescue! I had been following this rescue for what seems like forever, and hoping one day my family would be able to adopt. We went to a meet and greet at a local Petsmart where we met our Wally. We fell in love immediately and knew he had to be ours. All of the volunteers were so informative and the process of adoption was smooth. I had all of my questions answered and felt good about the work this rescue was doing. We brought Wally home and he has settled in so well. He’s sweet, gentle, silly, and just wants to be loved. We are thankful that we get to give him that love!!

Nutmeg is an absolute sweetheart! We adopted GG from TXCR 2 years ago and she has been the perfect addition to our family so we thought, why not give Nutmeg her forever home with 2 other senior dogs. She is fitting in beautifully. TXCR is the only rescue that I will adopt from due to Diane Stanley's fantastic communication and support. I really appreciate everything that you do for all of these wonderful dogs.

We recently reached out to Texas Chihuahua Rescue, Canada as we lost our beloved Harley(Chiweenie). We were heartbroken and so was his sister Ozzie(litter mate). So, we decided our family was no longer complete and we needed to fill the empty hole we had. Within a week we were approved and I happen to be looking at their Facebook page and came across a pair of eyes that I couldn’t stop looking at and said to the family I found him! Apollo(known as Chico) I emailed to put a hold on him and in less than 48hrs we were told he’s ours and we could pick him up on that coming Saturday! We were all over the moon with excitement and let me tell you he has been so good, loving and well mannered it isn’t funny. We are blessed to have him as our own and would 100% use them again and refer them. The amount of people that are involved is phenomenal and from what I witnessed they work like a well oiled machine. Thank you for all you do!

I am a firm believer in adopting, and after following this rescue on social media, I knew this is the one I wanted to adopt from. They are passionate about helping these puppies! My interaction was pleasant, and professional. They do their Do Diligents with references and home checks. They are very good communicating about the dog you are adopting, and give you all the information they have. Pick up was smooth and the volunteers where amazing! The wonderful woman who helped transport them, kissed each puppy as she handed them off to their forever home. This will be were I will look for another puppy.

I can't recommend TXCR enough! We adopted Lala recently and she's been the perfect addition to our family. We're a little obsessed to say the least!

The whole experience was seamless. Diane, or coordinator was fantastic, taking the time to meet with us and our two older dogs to help us find a fit. And when Lala needed a new home we knew she'd be the perfect match for us.

We knew what to expect at every step, with lots of information provided to make the rehoming process really smooth. The TXCR team are amazing and it's so apparent they really care about these little fur babies!

We adopted our pup from TXCR on May 4, 2024. The experience was smooth and supportive from start to end. Each volunteer we encountered treated us with care and you could feel the love they have for what they do. We couldn't be happier with our little Jolene and we are grateful for the TXCR organization. After we lost our Winston I began a trip down the rabbit while of adoption agencies when a friend told me about the Canadian Texas Chihuahua rescue. I searched their site on Facebook and saw that it wasn’t just chihuahuas but a variety of dogs and puppies that were for adoption. Then I saw a post about getting pre approved for adoption. I thought I wasn’t quite ready yet to adopt but thought I would get pre approved to speed up the process. The whole process was well executed. I was approved one weekend and immediately saw a post for our Griffin. I sent my hold email and was approved for adoption. The fee was reasonable and he was transported last April. Right from the beginning to the well organized hand off it was a well oiled operation! I would definitely adopt from this organization again.

I have adopted several dogs through Texas Chihuahua Rescue. 1 foster fail, two straight adoptions, and they facilitated getting one of my wonderful fosters adopted in Canada. I've made a friend in Canada, and I get to see daily updates on Facebook from that adopter. It is one of my favorite organizations. I've even turned over a few of rescues to them, always knowing that they will be treated with kindness and care.

The adoption of our beloved Ruby (was Remy) was seamless, professional and thorough. The care they take in finding approved adopters is complete and gives you peace of mind and faith in the organization.

What I loved most was although I put my name in for a dog, they make sure our bios are a good fit before they allow you to be the chosen adopter.

I am so thankful for finding this organization. I will continue to adopt from them for years to come.

I adopted my pup, Star, from Texas Chihuahua Rescue 5 years ago and my mother adopted Minnie (formerly Amethyst) from TCR 3 years ago. My family has rescued many dogs from various rescues and TCR offered one of the best adoption experiences we’ve had. Thank you for letting me be Star’s mom. I couldn’t imagine my life without her

We spent good portion of last year searching for our companion. Someone to love and to brighten our days. We wanted female puppy or young dog that is on a smaller size (but not too small), unique looking. (And there is nothing more unique than little mutts. Not to mention how good it feels to save the life).
We didn’t want to consider Kajiji or similar sources for a fear of supporting back-yard breeders/puppy mills so we focused on rescue groups.
We started our search on Petfinder. We live in Canada but majority of the dogs that we wanted were from the States. I had sent half of dozen of applications in past year but, despite our willingness to travel there, our applications were either completely ignored or the dogs would be adopted within a day. Most organizations wouldn’t even consider adopting out of state, or further than few hours drive from the headquarters. While I understood the logic behind it, it didn’t make our search easier. We thought, working from home, having fenced-in yard and experience with the dogs (and currently no other pets or children in the house) would make process easier, but it didn’t.
That is, until I came across Texas Chihuahua Rescue Inc. There was profile of a little girl I saw few weeks earlier. She seemed much smaller than we originally wanted, but I couldn’t get her out of my mind. Finally, on New Year’s Eve (while waiting for friends), I contacted organization, asking if she were adopted or not, because I could still see her profile, but couldn’t apply. Few hours later (!! - was very impressed!), I received application via E-mail. I filled it out the application the following morning (January 1). Co-ordinator did superb job, send me further instructions the same day (!), making reference checks and home inspection super fast (we didn’t even have enough time to clean the house properly LOL) - and few days later I was holding our dog in my arms. (It just happened that she already arrived in Canada earlier and foster mom was kind to accommodate us the following day.) I didn’t expect to receive anything (and it really wasn’t necessary), but our girl came with her health and other papers, harness, coats/sweater, pee-pads, toys, poop bags, food and other goodies. It made me sad and it made me appreciative of all the effort the organization puts in their rescues. She was also fully vaccinated and microchipped. I only wish she wasn’t spayed so early, as a baby (I prefer laparoscopic spaying and would be happy to do it when fully grown), but I do completely understand the logic behind it. So thank you for caring.
My husband was thrilled that we didn’t have to travel all the way to Texas, and his dream to have miniature dog finally came to fruition (I was more of a “Larger dogs Gal” so he never had the honours until now).

At first, our puppy was greedy for food, was very cuddly from the first day and was peeing all over the house. After a week she started eating like a lady (it helped that we cooked for her and were giving her food every 4-6 hours until she figured “O. K. - food is coming in large quantities and very often - not to mention the healthy snacks - there is no need to gobble as much as we can”), but after the meal she would start running around, like on batteries, and barking on weird sights and sounds, like postman, sneezing etc. - to let us know that she was on top of things in this household and that she was “earning her keep”, after which she would settle.
Week later, we discovered that she wasn’t as “composed” as it looked at first. “Hurricane Lula” hit us in full force and we have been trying to tidy up around since than, with very little success (which is good excuse not to tidy up on the first place). She is particularly fond of socks, sleeves and fingers.
The pooping and peeing training might take longer, but we like to think it’s doable. We still find little poop gifts under my husband’s desk in home office, on heat vents and other corners, but as a plus, Lula was trained in foster home to pee on pee pads (most of the time). When the weather is warmer, there is chance she would consider doing her business outside. Oh, well. One day at the time.
In meantime, she trained us not to move much during the night because she likes to sneak under the covers and work her way up to your pillow. Sometimes she attaches herself to you in your mid-section, like a little heat pad. All in all, getting to know each other and loving each other more and more each passing day.

I am so grateful for Texas Chihuahua Rescue and the important work they do for dogs. I never thought I would adopt a dog and I had a stigma about adopted dogs. But that all changed when I found my dog Ariel through Texas Chihuahua Rescue. I absolutely adore her. She is the sweetest, smartest, most loving little dog and I can't imagine my life without her. I can tell how much gratitude she has to be in a stable home with a cozy bed and an abundance of food and water. She has made my life better and the lives of people close to me better as well. My aunt and uncle are going through a difficult time after losing their dog of 17 years and two of their brothers to terminal illness in a short period of time. I bring Ariel over to their house and she lays with them. You can see how much it improves their mood and distracts them from their present situation.

Through Texas Chihuahua rescue I learned that Chihuahuas are the second most euthanized dog breed in Texas and one of the most abused/neglected breeds as well. These little creatures do not deserve to be a part of these statistics. There are a lot of unfair stigmas that surround the Chihuahua breed. These dogs deserve to be in an environment that allows them to live up to their full potential and feel safe. Texas Chihuahua Rescue and their fosters are doing amazing work for these dogs. Please donate to them, and give one of their dogs a chance if you are able. They are a professional organization that truly cares about what they are doing. I appreciate that they interview and approve candidates before they are able to adopt the dogs as well. This is such an important step at ensuring that each dogs second chance at life is a good one.

I have included pictures of Ariel. She is approximately 2 years old, with soft tan fur that has cute patches of white. She reminds me of a little fawn. She was originally 6lbs but is now closer to 8lbs. When we first adopted her she had a pronounced head tilt, which has now almost practically disappeared (unless she is curious about something of course lol). Her eyes also became clearer after a few weeks of adopting her, you can now see the hints of light brown and orange (originally her eyes just looked black). Being in Canada and adopting her in the winter made us nervous because originally she did not want to go out in the cold, and despite having pee pads our carpets took a couple hits. She has gotten used to the change in climate from Texas and no longer has any accidents in the house. She is so smart and well adjusted that she now runs to the backdoor and asks to be let out for a pee and poop whenever she needs it. The transformation that we have seen in this dog in the month she has been with us is remarkable and shows how much an environment can impact the physical and emotional behaviour of a dog.

Thank you Texas Chihuahua Rescue for working hard to give these amazing dogs a second chance life. I am forever grateful for the work that you do.

I couldn't be happier with my experience with Texas Chihuahua Rescue! The process from beginning to end was seamless and communication was consistent and prompt. As well, they did such a great job of finding a good fit for me with the sweetest, most loving boi, Chooch! He is exactly as they described, a sweet, cuddly, loving, quiet, playful boi and is settling in so well. I would highly recommend TXCR to anyone!

I recently had the pleasure of adopting one of TXCR’s dogs, Twila.

She is such an absolute pleasure to have become a part of my family. The description given by TXCR was accurate, leaving no surprises when Twila arrived. She has fit in so nicely to my routine, and is sweet beyond what I imagined.

We weren't sure if we were ready for another pup in the home after we lost our Rosie but a friend shared the site with us and we couldn't get over all the stories and love we would see every day. Then we saw this little chubby puppy and new he had to come home.
Interviewing and completing the process was so easy and painless. The volunteers made sure everything was in order and kept us up to date on Trapper (FKA Damien) health as he had Kennel cough. Our pick up date was concerning for us because we came from Northern Ontario in a snow storm and we weren't sure the team would make it to Ancaster! They drove through Buffalo getting 3 feet of snow and made sure everyone got here safely!
I have told so many friends who want to rescue to go through TXCR because they are passionate about what they do and care so much that the right pup goes to the right home!

When I started looking for a dog, I started following different Rescues on Instagram. I saw sweet faces everyday, then one day Lola (Sammy) showed up and I knew I wanted to go meet her. When my mom and I got to the rescue we were very impressed with the set up they had. Everything there is so clean and organized. We went to a room and several dogs came in to visit. Lola was a little shy and I had to go over to her, but before long, she would walk up to me if I moved away from her. I’ve had her for about 2 months now and she is the sweetest. This rescue will have my continued support. I love everything about it.

A wonderful experience- they are so well organised-great communication- easy to follow instructions and knowledgeable and honest about the dogs. From start to finish, it only was a week before our lovely little Penny was in our home. The organisation and the foster family were approachable, answered all questions in a timely and honest manner. The costs are amazing, this is clearly a NON profit organisation and because of the wonderful work they do, the updates on the websites and all the wonderful volunteers who work for the Rescue, they will quickly become one of my charities. So much good work and done so very well. Little Penny (far left) is making herself right at home alongside our little old lady Roxy who quite enjoys having her nearby already. Penny's personality is described to a tee.

I have been fostering with this organization for over two years. What a great group of genuine and hardworking people. The dogs are so well cared for and they are impeccable at matching adopters with dogs. I have adopted from them, as have my parents. The adoption process is thorough and the cost is fair. I can’t say enough good things!

In January of 2021 we adopted our wonderful Lucy, then 8 years young from the Texas Chihuahua Rescue Canada organization. The adoption process was well coordinated and the volunteers who work in the organization are extremely hardworking and dedicated to make sure there is a good match between the dog and potential new owner. Our Lucy came from her foster home well-adjusted to being with other dogs and cats so there were no issues with her fitting in with the other animals in our house. We love our Lucy and have been so impressed by this organization that we are now fostering. If you are considering adopting a dog, please consider doing this from the Texas Chihuahua Rescue Canada organization you will not be disappointed and you will give a dog a new lease on a happy and loving home.

Two of our sweet puppies came from this great organization and both times it's been an amazing experience. The staff are knowledgable and thorough in the vetting process and their love for all the dogs is evident in all they do. So thankful for them and all they're doing! Both Keegan & Lily (Sister) have been such a blessing to our family!

I adopted Lulu from TXCR November 6, 2021. After trying to find something more local I gave up and finally found this amazing rescue. They were so organized and efficient throughout the whole process. It was completely stress free. I highly recommend them and would definitely adopt from them again if I am ever looking. And little miss Lulu is a dream dog. Sorry it took me so long to post the review!!

This is the most organized and caring rescue I have dealt with. They made everything so easy and worry free. It can be a worry some time when you are adopting a doggy that you have not met before however the pictures and descriptions they provide on the dogs is amazing you really get a feel for the kind of dog you are getting. We recently rescued our baby Peter Pan now just Peter on Saturday august 21st 2023. He has been the best addition to our family and we are so beyond thrilled. We cannot say enough good things about Diane our coordinator and the amazing team at TXCR. If you are looking for a new family member to join the family I highly recommend this rescue!!

We adopted our little girl in October 2022 and she has been the best addition to our family! Her bio and description were spot on and we are so happy to have her! Recently I adopted again, a wee man named El Chapo. This is my fourth adoption with TXCR. Sherman was just a wee pup 4 years ago, then Little Lou 21 years young, and Rosie who had a heart condition. Lou and Rosie lived out their time with me, yes my heart broke but that short time (a year and a half) was such a special time. Those ladies went everywhere with me, enjoyed all the treats and love. Both passed in my arms, right where they should have been.
Sherman has come so far in his 4 years with me, still learning to trust but he has a kind and silly soul. Peanut ( Elchapo) is living his best now chasing frogs and lots of snuggling. TXCR has been amazing every time even offering support and guidance along the way.

I cannot say enough good things about Texas Chihuahua Rescue. What an incredible organization, saving lives and adding love to peoples lives. Such an easy yet thorough process, my coordinator Diane walked me through the whole process with telephone calls and emails. I highly recommend TCR for anybody looking for a dog to adopt. Like they told us we are saving two lives, the dog we adopted and opening up a space for another dog for them to take off the streets.

I have adopted two dogs from Texas Chihuahua Rescue. I got Luna two years ago and Tink last weekend. There is a comprehensive review done as well the pups arrived in great health. Their fee is very reasonable considering all that they do, the microchip/spay-fixing transport and general care of the dogs. You even get a harness and leash to get you started. The dogs arrive as scheduled and have made wonderful additions to my family. The volunteers are very supportive and kind. Thank-you TXCR for all that you do locating and finding the dogs loving homes.

Potter now known as Roo is adjusting well to life in Nova Scotia his feline sister is coming around and is tolerating his presence. His fur brother has excepted him and enjoys the company.
Rue is an excellent smuggler and kisser has very good potty manners, and doesn’t stray too far from his mama.

I have had two amazing experiences adopting from Texas Chihuahua Rescue. I adopted Bell a year and a half ago and decided a fur sibling was in order. Bongo joined us this week. Both are healthy and happy and bring so much joy and laughter to our family. I don’t know what I would do without them. I can’t thank TXCR and their volunteers enough for their support and help.

My chihuahua Mia I rescued her from a woman that is a puppy mill for chihuahuas and was going to use MIA as a breading dog but she is too small. I follow this wonderful dog rescue and see all of the happy new dog owners and happier dogs who are matched with their forever homes. I see how hard all of their volunteers work to save and provide living homes. They work tirelessly to find and ensure the perfect match. We love our Fergus and he is very happy here with us and our fur family. We are all so grateful.

We had the most amazing experience with TXCR. From beginning to end the volunteers with this rescue were professional, friendly, knowledgeable and were always willing to answer any questions and help make the process easier. We adopted our little fur baby Leo (formerly Lucian) a few weeks ago and it has been such a great experience! The Texas Chihuahua Rescue is such a great rescue, they are extremely professional, kind, supportive and provides you with all the information about the dogs and more. Our puppy came with all its medical history, vacations, microchips, etc - so we were basically equipped with everything! Nothing but positive things to say about this rescue.

We have always had 3 chihuahuas boys last year we lost our little luis to heart failure, we wasn’t looking for another dog has my other 2 where 13 and 8 and they had lost their middle brother we thought it’s too much to introduce a new member. But something happen while being out one evening my daughter and my doggie sitter both send me a picture of a little boy call Ted within 20 mins of each other we where like no we can’t ,but ended up saying well if it’s meant to be it will happen . So we applied and Ted was already adopted by then ,we tried another time and missed out again another little boy . Now miss Eevie was always there but she has her problems and demons poor little thing had been through it . We talk put it off a couple of times with concerns about her be aggressive towards her brothers . But talk more about what we could offer a trouble baby like Eevie , love food warm home companionship medical help and above all feeling safe. We lost our luis what a great way to give back then to give a little fur baby a safe forever home so we adopted her. Now Eevie comes with issues but we are getting use to her, she will not let us pick her up put anything on her she’s almost goes into a self protection mode curls up and if we pick her up she’s screams and will nip but not bite hard. But Eevie grace has we call her has come so far ,she plays with her brother Bentley she lays on our laps she gives the best kisses and she has love she just needs to let it out and needs to trust us . Eevie-Grace doesn’t realize she’s going to have the best life she could ever have . We know it’s a long road for all of us, I dream of the day I can pick her up and cuddle her but that day will come small steps . Eevie has sensitivity to light with could have been cause with a infection while on the streets not being treated or glaucoma ,she needs more test done but all in time . on her next visit to the vets has it’s a very stressful time for her going there eventually she could end losing her sight but that’s not an issue for us . We are blow away with what the rescue does sooo many baby’s out there who need home I wish we could save them all ,all the puppy’s get pick up 1st it’s the adults ones that need that extra care they have been through so much in their little time on earth . I couldn’t imagine being little Eevie abused then out on the streets finding my own food protecting myself what an awful life. We had a fantastic experience adopting through the Texas Chihuahua Rescue. Our coordinator, Emma, was very informative, happy to answer any questions, and easily accessible. The entire process was very stress free, pickup was well organized and we were lucky enough to have Everly come up on a mini transport so she joined our family sooner than we originally thought would be possible. I know three other families that also adopted through TXCR and had positive experiences. I would (and have) highly recommend anyone wanting to add a pup to their life to start their search here. I don’t consider myself a “small dog” person (my last boy was a Rottweiler) but was still able to find the perfect fit with Ev who could reach up to 70 lbs once she’s fully grown. The description they provided of her fits her to a tee and we couldn’t be happier.

My Baby Chi has finally arrived Home in Canada ������������ love this organization, compassionate, excellent medical care, professional adoption process, strong team spirit. There are a 100% and do amazing work.

Always a dog mom of BIG dogs…I decided I needed a Chihuahua in my life. My dream to rescue a Chi led me to follow TCR on Facebook. Then one day it happened. In April 2016, I was scrolling my feed at 7am when I saw her…the one. I just knew in my heart. I applied immediately…applying for a dog before I had had my morning coffee or even asked my husband. When fate calls, you act. I had an amazing adoption experience. A few days later I had my baby Cricket (formally Cinnamon). She had been in foster care and I was blown away at the amount of details I received about her. I received a letter from the foster mom outlining all her little quirks and it helped me to understand her quickly. The training was amazing - she could be off leash and loved her crate. She was settled in within an hour of having her - it really was a dream. Queue up December 2022 where I decided to now adopt my THIRD chi baby (once you get one, you can’t stop!). The response to my application was so impressively quick. I was contacted to start the process within a few days. It was over the holidays and the adoption coordinators are all volunteers with their own busy lives…but they are incredible people with very big hearts…and they really put a lot of time and effort into your application and sacrifice a lot of their time to do it. There’s heavy due diligence (which we should all appreciate to ensure the dog gets the best household for them possible). The coordinators are very experienced and have a real skill for matching. While I was waiting for my pup to arrive, there were unfortunate, unforeseen circumstances with my chosen pup (had to stay in Texas for health reasons). At last minute, I had the option of refund or to pick a new dog. But there was also a third option given to me….my absolute sweetheart of a counsellor (Diane) offered me a baby that SHE was receiving for her household…long story short…Diane matched me with “Angel”. She certainly feels that way…like an Angel sent just for us. Diane was an amazing lady and I will forever feel a bond with her for life. That’s another special thing about TCR…it’s a community, a tribe…a place of forever connection. All of us sharing our love of these babies and working together to make the world a better place. Thank you Diane (and the rest of the volunteers) for all the wonderful things you do! Definitely consider this rescue - you won’t be disappointed. You are so well prepared for your new pup. They come with sweaters…some blankets…harnesses…medical instructions…food clearly outlined. You have a solid idea of what they need from you. I just can’t express how well organized everything is….right down to every small detail. Super well functioning organization. A warm and wonderful experience.

What an amazing experience! I have now adopted 2 little cuties from the TXCR in under 1 year! The first time of course I was hesitant as I had never done anything like this before but as I began the adoption process and was directed to my coordinator Emma everything was just so smooth and extremely efficient! The volunteer's were absolutely wonderful and I could not have asked for a better experience! Ten months later we ended up with little Daisy and again the entire experience was absolutely fantastic! I adopted my chi, Daisy (Catrina), in April of 2017. Adopting Daisy was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. She has made my life so full. TCR matched me with the perfect dog. I’ll always be grateful for everything they do. The adoption process was wonderful. My family will definitely adopt through TCR again in the future.

I am a foster with Texas Chihuahua Rescue here in Toronto Canada. I have also adopted a small schnauzer mix, called Momo (formerly Beth Ann), who came into our lives during the pandemic as a foster. Needless to say, that was one epic foster fail! Texas Chi, you are amazing; you are a professionally run charity whose workers and volunteers are so caring, compassionate, and dedicated to the mission of the charity-to rescue as many small dogs as possible. You make me want to keep fostering and spreading the word about your charity to anyone I meet.

The Texas Chihuahua Rescue was amazing to deal with. I didn’t know anyone associated with them and I simply reached out to them to be a possible adopter. The screening process was very thorough, as it should be. Everyone I communicated with by email and by video chat was extremely professional. Once I was on the potential adopter list their communication was very transparent and clear to understand. It took us a while to find our pup, but once we did we couldn’t be happier. Our little Delilah has fit right in and the rescue was great about helping us schedule a pickup that worked for us. They gave us all her paperwork and even registered her microchip. I would highly recommend this rescue organization. They know what they are doing and they are very easy to deal with. Thank you to the volunteers!

My experience with the Texas chihuahua rescue has been nothing but positive.from the moment I applied and meet Janet ,she was there to answer any questions.when I seen lily(aka maxine) I asked for the hold on her and I got her.I flew to Ontario to pick her up myself and I love her so much.she has adjusted so well with my yorkie mesha and my cat Luna.it’s like she has been here forever.she is a joy to have in our family.

We started with Texas Chihuahua rescue many months ago with the adoption process. The process it self was making sure as a home and family we were going to be able to provide one of the rescues with the best home. That first step was the beginning of us seeing how dedicated this group was. We kept our eyes open to find what we thought was the best fit for our home and currant pet. Fast forward many months we saw three possible angels we’d love to make a part of our home. We were lucky that we were able to hold one of them. I still had mixed feelings if we were doing the right thing for our four year old chihuahua cross because he is a little touchy with the amount of love he receives. But this past Saturday July 9 was the day we picked up our little girl in Ancaster, Ont. The process of the pickup was so organized and thought out. The group of volunteers have so much love for these fur babies. We were handed a bundle of fur and off we went. Shine now known as Tiah fit in instantly like she was meant to be. Tucker our four year old is still on the fence why his parents brought another fur ball into the home but I’m sure within a very short time he will except her and love her as much as we do. She is adjusting better then we could imagine and we look so forward to many years of laughter and love with her. If there were more then 5 stars to rate this group I would 10x over give them all the stars.

We put in an application for Daisy (formerly Dawn) through their website after seeing her on their Facebook. The application process was easy and quick. I messed up on a phone number for our reference and I was able to email them through the website and let them know. Someone got back to me right away.

The next day I was contacted and had a great conversation and virtual home visit with a coordinator. Throughout the virtual visit I felt super comfortable and happy sharing information with her. Her name is Diane.

We were approved to adopt Daisy. The amount of information we were given was amazing. The day of pick up process was seemless and not stressful at all. The follow up after was amazing and felt comforting too.

11/10. Recommend this adoption agency. They foster too and we met some foster families when picking her up and they said amazing things too.

After losing my Aussie shepherd, I missed having a furry companion in the house. I contacted Texas Chihuahua Rescue in the hopes of rescuing a dog that needed a home. I was accepted and adopted a beautiful pup named Cupcake! She managed the travel well and was so excited to greet us here in Canada. Cupcake was beautiful, and So lovable; I soon learned that she actually rescued me. She has made our family life so much more special, and we couldn’t have done it without this incredible organization. My first family dog was a chihuahua. When she passed away, I didn't know when I'd be ready for another dog. About this time, I started following the TXCR's Canada page and fell in love with the organization. I knew when I was ready, I would adopt from them. My approval process was so quick and in just a month, I had a new and sweet family member, Dolly. My coordinator Cindy and her volunteer Cathy were so quick with my questions. Everything went so smoothly. I am so grateful to have Dolly! This was my first, and won't be my last time rescuing from TXCR!

We always rescue senior dogs and we found a great one with the help of Texas Chihuahua Rescue. Squeek is a charming, fun little gentleman and we are so blessed to have him.
The process was painless and communication was frequent and helpful.

My family has always had a pup. At the end of 2020 we suddenly lost both of our older adult dogs and it was a very sad time for us. We then decided we would like to rescue a pup and found this group. Since it was in the middle of COVID things were done a little differently and we started the process to fine the perfect fit for our family. It took us some time as we had a new addition to the family (a beautiful grand baby) and needed to make sure that the pup we brought knot the family was good with children etc. In February of this year we found the perfect fit. Her name is Nova and she is a wonderful girl. Good with baby’s and all people as well as other dogs. The process was so easy and everyone we dealt with were just fantastic people. Nova has brought so much joy to our home and we couldn’t be happier. This recuse is amazing, from the onset the people were wonderful.

First experience with fostering. Moby is so handsome & loving. He fit right into our family and by the second week, I was in love. I began to worry that he WOULD get adopted. Someone must have heard me because I broke my foot and was not capable of fulfilling my Foster Mom duties. I wasn't able to drive Moby to potential adopters. So, under special circumstances I was able to adopt him!! I renamed him 'Boo' and we lived happily ever after. Thank you Texas Chi Rescue!! You all do a superior job ������������

What a wonderful experience! GG is a perfect addition to our family, we couldn't have asked for a better match. I have adopted 2 of my babies from Texas Chihuahua Rescue Canada. My little Ellie in May of 2020 and my new boy Fletcher the beginning of March. Both of them had to be fostered in Ontario until i was able to fly from Newfoundland to bring them home. They received lots of love and i received regular updates and pictures. My experience has been amazing and i'm so thankful i get to be their mom.

I adopted little Brady from TXCR. I can’t recommend this rescue enough. The process was so efficient and smooth, and the volunteers were so kind and helpful. They’ve been very supportive, providing so many resources. The vet work they did was excellent, my little guy arrived vaccinated, dewormed, neutered and microchipped. I would have paid double for Brady because of all the vet work they did. He is perfect, and the best decision I ever made. I’d work with TXCR a million times over.

We adopted our little man back in February and couldn’t be happier! The whole adoption process from beginning to end was such an amazing experience. Our coordinator was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and we could always ask her questions. I would highly recommend anyone to adopt from TXCR. This is Suzie's 4th Valentine's Day here in Canada and she's a very happy dog. She loves to dress up and show off, so we are a good match, as I love to get outfits for her to wear! Even though I needed to fill out paperwork and go through a full adoption process, it was worth it because we are a great match. I don't know what I'd do without her.

We adopted our sweet Oliver chi mix 3 years ago and he is the best thing we ever did!
Texas chi rescue was super helpful throughout the entire process including when we went to petsmart to get a few things for him, like the correct harness. We adopted again because of them!

This is my first time adopting 1) a dog and 2) from this rescue. I can say that they did a great job of vetting the adopters and making sure that you select the right pup for your family. I was in a bit a of a tricky spot because I was a first time dog owner, with a cat and young children and I was only interested in a rescuing a dog. This presented obvious challenges with rescues. I felt that Texas Chihuahua Rescue was the only rescue that give me hope to find our new family friend. They provided help in making sure that we selected the right pup. We got our pup in Feb, 2022 and I can say that the processes was easy, and organized with full transparency and any information available. The operator were always accessible for any questions you might have. Our new family member is just perfect. He has the perfect temperament for our cat and kids and is just a snuggle bug. I am not sure that people know how sweet these rescues can be. This was a great experience and I would recommend fully.

Our family has been following the incredible work that this rescue does for many years. We have always been impressed with their level of vetting new adoptive families. They are thorough and professional and take matching adoptive dogs and new families with love and responsibility. We are completely in love with our new Finn. We adore him and he has completed our family as if we had been simply waiting for him. ������. I have nothing but amazing things to say about TXCR!! What a fabulous organization. The whole process was done so quickly but thoroughly. My coordinator Janet was so nice and helpful and encouraging. When I looked at the dogs available for adoption I came across Mick and I knew at once that he was for me!! His foster Mom, Vicky, was very nice and had me well prepared to meet Mick. He filled a big hole in my heart as my 15 yr old dog passed just weeks before I got him. Mick lost his human Mom in September and I knew that we were meant for each other ❤ he brings me so much joy and happiness and is the sweetest little dog that I've ever met!! He is quiet and calm, but also silly and lively! Thank you SO much TXCR for allowing me to give Mick a new home where he is loved unconditionally. You are doing such fabulous work.

We adopted our Christmas Miracle River (formerly Briar) and picked her up on December 4th. The process went smoothly from beginning to end. I wasn't sure when the right time would be for me to have a dog. I've grown up with dogs my whole life and was missing having one the past few years. There were always reasons not to, but this year it seemed like there were fewer reasons and just so many benefits. I applied to be pre approved because I liked the system that the Texas Rescue had, you'd get pre approved so when the right dog for you showed up, you'd match, and it would happen. Nothing forced. Ozzy (formerly known as Lugh), is the perfect dog for me. We have similar temperaments (who knew I was so similar to a Blue Heeler?) So we get the cuddle and then the need for own space. He is independent and very clever. He is learning so fast and seems to feel right at all. He is impossible not to love. I am very grateful. The entire process was great and I felt secure and supported through the whole thing. I was a bit nervous with everything being online, but was put to ease with the professionalism and constant support from my coordinator.

I just adopted a lovely puppy from Texas Chihuahua (Canada chapter). The entire experience was excellent. I went through the pre-adoption process (providing a personal reference and my vet's info). This was followed up by a personal chat and virtual visit. It all went well. Then I watched the facebook page for dogs that I was interested in and I found one!

I applied for a hold on the dog. And I got her!!! Things happened fast after that - she was on the transport and brought to Canada. I had an issue with pickup time but the coordinator Kim helped me out - no problem! I now have an absolutey adorable little chiweenie (now named Birdie) and couldn't be happier. I got all the paperwork - everything was super well-organized.

An excellent experience ! I'm very happy. Birdie is now happily running up and down my hallway with her squeaky>

I cannot recommend this Rescue enough!! We adopted Ozzy (TXCR Timone) November 6, 2021 and he has brought us so much joy already. A special shout out to our coordinator Diane who was incredibly responsive and helpful. The dogs are neutered, vet checked, microchipped and vaccinated before they are brought to their new owners. TXCR also provides you with a full info package when you pick up your dog which has all the info you need. You can tell that everyone involved with this rescue genuinely cares about these dogs and wants them to have the best life possible. Ozzy is so special and we are so grateful we are able to give him a new home with lots of love and cuddles. Thank you TXCR for bringing us together!

The time from submitting our application to picking up our new dog was just over two months. We were fortunate to be matched fairly quickly and were prepared to have a much longer wait based on the what we wanted and the type of home environment we could provide. During that time, our assigned coordinator exchanged several emails with us, along with a virtual home visit, to be approved in general and then to be specifically matched with a particular dog. Our coordinator was professional and provided information through the entire process including updating us on new medical information (giving us the option to decline our match based on this). We have had Loki home for just over a week and are very happy with him and the entire process.

Hello everyone I came to this Rescue 2.5 years ago, I had just lost my to senior Chi's to old age. Never wanted any more dogs, it hurt to much, but I became depressed and lonely without my babies of 17 years. Three months later my friend who works with Texas Recue said put in an application to adopt they check you out then they help you find the perfect match for you. The puppies are Rescues and are Vet checked, micro chipped, spayed or neutered, they are rescued from shelters, hoarding situations, off the streets, you would be saving these poor babies life and giving them a new lease on life and love. Like every month there was a transport coming up September 2019 she said come and see what is all about so I did , it was a fabulous set up very professional , after being approved I was able to look at the puppies who were left available because some were already adopted before they came , now it is all done online due to the covid. Well I picked this cute lil black and brown with floppy ears lol, but they said that is awesome but she is bonded with a sister and we can't separate them, my heart sunk, then my husband out of the blue said we will take both we have always had two so we will take the both of them I was estatic my broken heart they had restored. They check on you to see how everything is going with you and the puppies or if I needed to ask them anything they were there for us. After a short time I wanted to do more so we decided to fill out an application to foster and have been taking in and sending puppies to there new fulfilled homes and a better life. Oh ! by the way we just adopted our second set of bonded sisters which we didn't think that would ever happen but was love at first sight and that was it lol. Texas Chihuahua Rescue is a fantastic ,trusting ,loyal, and very caring rescue and I thank them for everything they do for everyone and me but most of all first for those puppies. Thank you for everything !

We adopted Stella in August of 2020. The entire process of adopting a rescue through TXCR was so easy. Our coordinator Diane was the best to work with. She is so attentive and was on it when we wanted to place a hold on a dog. Stella has been a perfect little angel for us and we could not have gotten a better rescue. I’ve adopted twice from TCRX and could not be happier. They are caring, responsible, and super professional on every level. Our dogs came to us in fantastic shape and were obviously very well cared for on the Ranch. I would (and have) recommend this rescue for anyone looking to add a furry member to their family …they are top notch.

We adopted Rosie (formerly Bam Bam) from the Texas Chihuahua Rescue in August 2021. Originally, we had been planning on just fostering her, but we fell in love before she got out of the transfer van. She's the perfect fit for our family, it's like she's always been here. I can't wait to see how big she is when she finishes growing! Thanks to the TXCR for all of their help, support and the work they do for the dogs. You are literally saving lives. I'm so glad that not only am I able to adopt, but I'm able to help this great organization.

My little Charlotte came to me in 2019 thanks to TXCR and all their amazing work! From day one they were kind and compassionate ensuring the right pup was placed with the right family. They are open about each dog and their abilities/needs. They even went so far as to contact me before my girl came home to let me know she wasn’t quite potty trained and to offer me a chance to adopt another if this was an issue (clearly it was not an issue). An absolutely wonderful rescue that I would not hesitate to adopt from again!

TXCR is an amazing organization. I can’t thank and commend the volunteers and fosters enough for their hard work and dedication to finding the best homes for these pups in need. I am SO in love with Mocha (formerly Dover) and am super grateful to TXCR for bringing him into my life. It hasn't been more than a couple days but Guster (Gus) and I are having a blast. He arrived in Canada in great condition. It is such a long way from Texas. We have gone to the beach a couple of times and he loves it. So many people to meet! Honestly I could think of a more perfect dog for me. He is healthy and happy. What more could anyone want.!

I not only got a dog, I got a new family. I worked with a few rescue agencies from the start I saw a difference working with Texas Chihuahua Rescue. They responded quickly to my application, and every communication thereafter. The coordinator truly listened to what I was looking in for our dog. I could not help but also reach out and volunteer my time with them, and donate to help them as much as they helped us. I will never forget the day we got dash (aka Merle). We had been waiting for a long time to adopt a dog and had no luck with our local rescues (from Ottawa Ont area)

One of our friends recommended TXCR and we were soon interviewed and on a pre approved adoption list.

About 4 months later we got approved for our now 5 month old puppy Nyx (formally Gale) and we honestly couldn’t be happier!
