Review for HORSE POWER, Washoe Valley, NV, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Horse Power has consistently stood to protect the horses and burros in their community, wild and domestic alike. They’ve accepted horses into their sanctuary program that no one else would help and have regularly assisted other rescues with feeding and caring for horses and burros in their programs. When false allegations of embezzlement cost them their funding they continued to work and sacrifice and used their personal funds to care for the horses and burros they had offered sanctuary to. I can’t express enough the dedication this organization has the the equine of Nevada.
I am proud to support their mission By sponsoring horses in their sanctuary and encourage others to do the same.

Review for Beckys Hope Horse Rescue Inc, Frisco, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As a small horse rescue, we regularly look to other rescues for collaboration and sometimes guidance to how best resolve a situation in their communities. Most rescues will refuse to collaborate or when they do, will refuse to acknowledge the other parties involved who helped provide funding or other resources. They will (shockingly) even reach out to donors and social media and attempt to discredit the organizations they see as their competitors for donors. In my experience, Becky’s Hope has on multiple occasions, ALWAYS been willing to help, and kept the welfare of the horses as their priority regardless of what others were saying about them. I have seen them step in multiple times to salvage situations where other rescues have failed and sit quietly by as those rescues took credit for the hard work put in by Becky’s Hope volunteers. I’m here today to credit them for just one of those situations.

We had an advocate who was desperately working to save a forgotten horse from a kill pen. Try as we might, though, we couldn’t find a home for him. The situation was exacerbated by a lameness issue disclosed by the kill pen that would preclude this horse’s ability to be Safely transported long distance. In stepped Becky’s Hope who agreed to take him in, assess him, and do their best to rehab him. While our advocate covered the cost of getting the horse to them, Becky’s Hope had a vet come (at their expense) to determine the lameness issue that led to multiple “advocates” calling for euthanasia, was simply a case of having been overworked — specifically having been forced to practice spinning on one foot to excess. Now safely in their care, he has been named Jesse, is expected to make a full recovery, and since being released from quarantine, has made himself a favorite among the mares in the neighboring paddocks and volunteers alike.

We are forever grateful to Becky’s Hope for what they did for Jesse and other horses, donkeys, and mules (not to mention the dogs, cats, cows, goats, ducks, geese, or any other furred or feathered friend lucky enough to wander into their path). We will continue to endorse their good work and encourage others to do so as well.

Review for HORSE POWER, Washoe Valley, NV, USA

Rating: 5 stars

In 2013 This non-profit was directly involved with a multi-rescue effort to save over 500 wild horses and burros from slaughter. Since then, I observed as the director personally worked with numerous individuals including myself to rescue horses.

In 2014 I served on the board of directors of a newly formed horse rescue that received emergency grants from Horse Power in the form of hay, feed and veterinary services to support horses in our sanctuary.

In 2015, I, having left the board of the rescue I was working with, had a wild horse in desperate need of sanctuary. Horse Power assisted me in placing him with another rescue in Nevada that I know also received hay and feed from Horse Power.

In 2016, Horse Power assisted me in forming a horse rescue in my home state and helped us get our 501c3 designation with the IRS.

Through the years of professional interaction, I have developed a personal friendship with the director. I have nothing but good things to say about her or Horse Power.
