Horse Power has consistently stood to protect the horses and burros in their community, wild and domestic alike. They’ve accepted horses into their sanctuary program that no one else would help and have regularly assisted other rescues with feeding and caring for horses and burros in their programs. When false allegations of embezzlement cost them their funding they continued to work and sacrifice and used their personal funds to care for the horses and burros they had offered sanctuary to. I can’t express enough the dedication this organization has the the equine of Nevada.
I am proud to support their mission By sponsoring horses in their sanctuary and encourage others to do the same.

In 2013 This non-profit was directly involved with a multi-rescue effort to save over 500 wild horses and burros from slaughter. Since then, I observed as the director personally worked with numerous individuals including myself to rescue horses.

In 2014 I served on the board of directors of a newly formed horse rescue that received emergency grants from Horse Power in the form of hay, feed and veterinary services to support horses in our sanctuary.

In 2015, I, having left the board of the rescue I was working with, had a wild horse in desperate need of sanctuary. Horse Power assisted me in placing him with another rescue in Nevada that I know also received hay and feed from Horse Power.

In 2016, Horse Power assisted me in forming a horse rescue in my home state and helped us get our 501c3 designation with the IRS.

Through the years of professional interaction, I have developed a personal friendship with the director. I have nothing but good things to say about her or Horse Power.

A couple of years ago, I took on the rescue and care of a very special-needs wild stallion. Although the horse belonged to the government, the NDA had no funds to provide for the special diet this starving, old, toothless stallion required. As he was still showing every sign that his spirit was unflagging and he wanted to live, I and the other volunteers working with me wanted to give him a chance, but it was a daunting task, both in terms of the care commitment and the cost of everything he needed. I had never heard of Horse Power, nor had I ever met anyone involved with that organization before someone suggested they might be able to help. Fortunately, they were indeed able to help, providing for a good portion of the horse's monthly feed requirements. Other volunteers and I chipped in the rest. Remarkably, this horse is not only still alive, but is positively glowing with health. He clearly enjoys his "retirement home" where everything he needs is right at his hoof tips. People can say what they want, but all I know is that this organization stepped up when this very special wild boy was in desperate need, and I sure appreciate it.

It sad to see people who have the agenda of stealing this organizations funding source for themselves. They put this organization through hell and were not even US citizens. Horse Power has been fighting for the rights of Wild Horses for years by issuing grants, rescue and interaction with government entities. We are very familiar with the Great work being done by Horse Power despite having to deal with evil jealous people. The person who wrote the bad review stated that Horse Power has become a rescue in violation of their Mission Statement. I can assure anyone that wishes to look that they will see that rescue has always been part of their Mission.

Horse Power is a great organization. They are very knowledgeable about the issues and work to help educate others. Their license plate is great looking and belongs on every car in Nevada. Funds from the sale of these plates has helped many small WH & B advocacy groups continue their mission to help “the wild ones.”

4-3-2009 The beautiful wild horse license plates, “wild and free”, in Nevada is indeed a miracle, not only as a great tribute to America’s wild horses/burros and the dedicated people helping them but to Nevada’s Wild Horse Annie, Velma Johnston, who not only recognized the significance of America’s wild horses to our country, but the cruelty endured by these beautiful, intelligent and sound bodied re-introduced N. American native species. Horse Power against all odds that a license plate would never happen in Nevada because of the political hostility against them made it happen. BIG thanks to Horsepower from Nevadans who care about these American icons. Next to the white stallion proudly rearing, my license plate says “4UANE”, for you Annie, but also for Sally as well.
