Review for Soldiers' Angels, San Antonio, TX, USA
Three years ago a close friend was on his first deployment to Iraq. I was sending him weekly letters and monthly packages to help make his time a little easier. About two months in he wrote that many of his friend never got mail or packages- nothing. I then started to send extra letters and goodies for him to pass around. Hoping I could reach out to more troops I did a Google search and found Soldier's Angels. I now lead a team for Ladies of Liberty- a team that supports deployed females. In a world dominated by males, it is often hard for them to find things to make them feel like a woman. Sending them nail polish, perfumed lotion and all kinds of 'girly' items really helps to empower them and make them feel strong, yet feminine. I am also a member of the Letter Writing Team and write a letter to a different assigned soldier each week. I have met some wonderful men and women through this program and have unofficially adopted several soldiers who responded to one of my letters. It is not hard to feel forgotten when you are out serving our country and this program is a FANTASTIC and well organized way to let them know they they are our heroes and we are always thinking of them and support them!
