Review for Frankie and Andy's Place , Winder, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've been volunteering at Frankie and Andy's Place since the first dog, Lil' Kim walked through the doors. It was love at first sight, and nine years later, you'd have to pull me kicking and screaming from getting to be with the current 37 dogs living their best life there. We began with one, little cabin, and today we have three wonderful cabins with walkways, wooded trails, green grass to roll in...not to mention the most incredible staff and volunteers on the face of the planet. Everything is all about those precious dogs. And everything about the dogs is how they care for each other and countless humans they inspire. In the community they comfort, educate, rehabilitate. I can't even wrap my head around how any human could've let these dogs down when they needed their humans the most, but I feel blessed that they made their way to Frankie and Andy's Place; for we're all the richer for it.

I have volunteerd at Frankie and Andy's Place since it's beginning. Over the years I've fallen in love over 150 times...and had my heart crushed almost as many when it was someone's time to cross the rainbow bridge. My friends and family ask me if it ever gets easier, or wonder how I can take the heartbreak over and over. Here's the thing--I know by allowing myself to fall in love with these lovely senior pups, I'm going to hurt, but I also have such gratitude for having spent time with them, knowing their last days or years on earth were probably the best of their lives. Most of these frosty-faced, loves of my life, came from unimaginable circumstances and have the most horrific backstories. Thank God for Frankie and Andy's place for showing them what love, comfort, and quality care is. The staff and volunteers are 1,000% dedicated to the dogs, and the dogs clearly show their appreciation through the love they give back to us and the community. FAAP's mission from the start has been very clear. There's no other place like it!

I have been volunteering with Frankie and Andy's Place since its inception. My time there is always the highlight of my week! I love this organization for its holistic approach. It's not just a senior dog sanctuary; these senior dogs have a very important job. They visit senior centers, adult care centers, schools and therapy groups. They help heal and educate people. Despite the unspeakable conditions many of them came from, they love unconditionally and inspire. I have learned so much from all of them and love them as if they were my own. I am equally honored and inspired by my fellow volunteers and staff. Frankie and Andy's Place is the family I choose and I love every moment I can get to be a part of it.

I've been a volunteer with Frankie and Andy's Place since they invited their first resident (Lil Kim) into it's loving space. I've watched this little family (both furry and human) grow, and am still in awe of the magic that happens within it's little campus. I say campus because we have a beautiful new cabin that perfectly complements the original, and I know there will be more. We'v grown from 1 dog to 17 current residents, with more arriving all the time. We've been blessed with over 40 dogs since we started. Some have crossed over the rainbow bridge, and others have found new homes to call their very own. ALL have been amazing. I couldn't be prouder of the volunteer family, the board of directors, and the staff that take such loving care of these special seniors. Everyone brings their open heart and just jumps right in to help anyway they can. I am so honored to be a part of it all and can't wait for the next chapter!

As a volunteer for Frankie and Andy's Place, I've seen first-hand the transformation that takes place in our senior dogs and the humans with whom they come in contact. It's nothing short of a gift from God. The dog residents were lost, forgotten or just plain given up on until they found new life and purpose at the little cabin in the woods. Everyone and everything wants to feel loved and needed. These dogs not only receive love, but give back in so many ways. Whether it's visiting our community's senior citizens every Wednesday, or just being there for therapy groups, they teach us all the importance of finding purpose in life. I'm sure everyone who visits, volunteers or benefit from their therapy has their own rewards. For me personally, it's about appreciating life in the moment and getting back up no matter how life may beat you down. I truly believe in the work being done here. I can't wait to see what's next around the corner. My heart is full and I'm just so very grateful that my path has led me to this place. It's a unique approach to care for those who might otherwise have been left behind.

I've volunteered at shelters in the past, but the people who give of their time here are simply the best; caring, generous of spirit and absolutely dedicated to providing the best environment and future for both man and man's best friends in their most desperate hours.
