I volunteer and donate to Frankie and Andy's Place for many reasons; my favorite one is because these senior dogs go out to spread love and magic when they visit, as therapy dogs. Putting smiles on faces!
I have been involved with FAAP since the idea was made into a reality. Penny Miller has this vision to help our senior dogs, who have been discarded by their owners, and give them a piece of heaven at FAAP. So many volunteers share her dream! So many donors honor the dogs and what this “sanctuary” stands for. Once you see these dogs THRIVE and RESPOND to the love, care and DIGNIFIED REDPECT they receive, you will want to be part of this rescue. I have been involved with helping dogs for 14 years and Thought I would never see anything as wonderful as FAAP. Please accept this heartfelt message to keep this rescue as one of the most important. Frankie and Andy's Place can hardly be described without a big smile on my face and tear in my eye. These old senior dogs have grabbed my heart and I guarantee all the volunteers feel this when they visit. These old dogs show us how to live life with happiness. They hobble around the yard, some blind, some with cancer and some just frail and arthritic, but not a word of complaint. These dogs would have been euthanized at shelters, had not Penny and others rallied to save them and bring them to the old dogs home to live in comfort and peace. This is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Hard to see them go over the rainbow bridge, when one dies, but we find comfort knowing their last days were happy and adored. Come see this place, when in Winder, Ga. Marilyn Ranck
This is one of Georgia’s true gems! It is rare to find a non-profit that appeals to but more importantly helps such a wide variety of benefactors! A true collaboration to help humans and canines alike. When I say help, that is not limited to helping those in need...it helps ppl like myself feel good about volunteering and helping in any way possible! That intrinsically rewarding feeling that I know I share with its many volunteers that does not have a monitory value, and yet is still priceless!
I've been a volunteer with Frankie and Andy's Place since they invited their first resident (Lil Kim) into it's loving space. I've watched this little family (both furry and human) grow, and am still in awe of the magic that happens within it's little campus. I say campus because we have a beautiful new cabin that perfectly complements the original, and I know there will be more. We'v grown from 1 dog to 17 current residents, with more arriving all the time. We've been blessed with over 40 dogs since we started. Some have crossed over the rainbow bridge, and others have found new homes to call their very own. ALL have been amazing. I couldn't be prouder of the volunteer family, the board of directors, and the staff that take such loving care of these special seniors. Everyone brings their open heart and just jumps right in to help anyway they can. I am so honored to be a part of it all and can't wait for the next chapter!
As a volunteer for Frankie and Andy's Place, I've seen first-hand the transformation that takes place in our senior dogs and the humans with whom they come in contact. It's nothing short of a gift from God. The dog residents were lost, forgotten or just plain given up on until they found new life and purpose at the little cabin in the woods. Everyone and everything wants to feel loved and needed. These dogs not only receive love, but give back in so many ways. Whether it's visiting our community's senior citizens every Wednesday, or just being there for therapy groups, they teach us all the importance of finding purpose in life. I'm sure everyone who visits, volunteers or benefit from their therapy has their own rewards. For me personally, it's about appreciating life in the moment and getting back up no matter how life may beat you down. I truly believe in the work being done here. I can't wait to see what's next around the corner. My heart is full and I'm just so very grateful that my path has led me to this place. It's a unique approach to care for those who might otherwise have been left behind.
I've volunteered at shelters in the past, but the people who give of their time here are simply the best; caring, generous of spirit and absolutely dedicated to providing the best environment and future for both man and man's best friends in their most desperate hours.
I’m a new volunteer with Frankie and Andy’s Place but not new to Rescue...
volunteering as I have done so over the past 8 years at 6 Rescue’s between Fl and Ga.
Frankie and Andy’s is by far the most unique and dedicated I’ve encountered.
While others shun seniors with medical issues and special needs.
Here, they go after the challenge and are rewarded with a sweet appreciative senior that can enjoy their final days, months or years with lotsa TLC.
No cages here..
These seniors big and small can wander from doggie bed to chair to sofa as their cabin Home is set up as a regular furever home.
From early in the morn till late in the eve there is hands on cuddles and watchful eyes.
Special home cooked chicken, rice and sweet potatoes are part of the daily meal routine.
Lots of shaded outside fenced grass to roll in as they can wonder in and out as they need.
If they could talk...
I’m sure they would say...
“Yep..it’s a dogs life and we’re lovin’ it”. ❤️
It’s all about the dogs!
I have close and honorable friends who volunteer here and I have followed FAAP’s journey for a while. Everything you could possibly hope for a dog’s happy life is here. This is a little piece of heaven on earth for those approaching the Rainbo Bridge. I give them a 20 paw rating
My Happy Place is a slice of Heaven on Earth for senior dogs! Best senior dog rescue ever! We see the changes in each dog we rescue! From scared to happy, from timid to rock stars!
A healing place. A loving place. A warm home in North Georgia for old dogs that would have died otherwise. As a volunteer I am the one blessed by these senior dogs every week as they come running, hobbling or limping to greet me with tails wagging. They don't know it when they first arrive, but they figure it out quickly that they matter and are safe, respected, needed and mostly loved! Rescuing senior dogs and "hospice" cases means some won't be with us long, but for those sugar snouts when it's time for their walk over the Rainbow Bridge when they're at Frankie and Andy's Place they are loved across with all the dignity and gentleness that we can. In loving memory of Cody and Donald.
This is one awesome volunteer opportunity! I feel as though I've had a mini vacation every time I go. All the dogs are amazing with their own personality. Everything from tiny to large but all with sweet personalities. Senior dogs are difficult to get adopted but these dogs prove they have much more to offer!
I love taking one or two to Retirement Facilities to visit. The residents love them and you
see smiles on there faces and an occasional giggle when the get a kiss!
We can ALWAYS use additional laps for cuddling plus please willing to visit with us! It is always the best part of my week!
This is a little slice of heaven. Senior dogs rock. Once you hear their stories and are able to spend time with them, your aches, pains or problems seem to go away. They love a lap to snuggle on or just being near you!
This place is special! Each precious dog there has a sad story of loss and abandonment yet they won the senior dog lottery, so to speak, by being able to live out their golden years at Frankie and Andy’s Place. Despite their history of being failed by people in the past, most dogs show and provide immense love through community outreach at senior centers, day centers and beyond.
I volunteer here so I know for a fact they do exactly what they say they do..rescue senior dogs and give them the best care possible for the rest of their days. They really do sleep on couches, chairs, and comfortable beds. We rub bellies, scratch ears, give treats, or whatever else the dog tells us they like. An amazing place!
Frankie and Andy’s Place is my get away place where I spend time volunteering with these wonderful, loving seniors. Each one of these senior dogs has their own story, whether given up on because they were sick, abandoned or just had gotten old and not wanted anymore. FAAP gives these beautiful souls a place to live out the remainder of their lifes. To be able to interact with other dogs, eat home cooked meals and just love on the humans who volunteer there to love on them. There is so much love there, you feel it when you walk in the door, a welcoming bark, a tail wag and a welcoming committee meeting you at the door. A little slice of heaven for the seniors who live there and us human volunteers.
I volunteered for the first time Frankie and Andy's Place a week ago. What a wonderful place for the rescued seniors to live out the remainder of their years. It's a warming and loving environment. The cabin is so cozy and you can tell the dogs love it there. I volunteered to spend time and love on these seniors and I left with so much more. They stole my heart. Frankie and Andy's is a loving, caring place and the owners Penny and Pete have done a fantastic job.
I have been a volunteer at Frankie and Andys over a year now and cannot think of a better place to spend my time. The sweet seniors truly melt my heart and this rescue is exceptional in every way. I love seniors and Frankie and Andys for all they do for them
No matter what kind of day I'm having, when I walk through the door at Frankie & Andy's Place, it all falls away and my day immediately gets better. It's such a privilege to hang out with the seniors - no matter what their previous situation, at FAAP, they are all treated with love and respect, and they give so much love in return. I love this place.
If there is a heaven on earth for senior dogs, Frankie and Andys Place is it. I have been volunteering there for about six months and it is remarkable to see these dogs come who have been rejected for whatever reason, neglected, forgotten, abused, forlorn and they come to the cabin where they are loved, and well fed, and receive the best medical care. The change in these dogs can not be put into words. They are so sweet, so loving, they ask nothing of you and give so much in return.
I bring my 14 yr. old granddaughter with me. She's autistic but when she is with these dogs, her world is complete. She can remember name, she helps walk them, she loves taking care of them. It's the favorite part of her week.
These dogs that no one wanted bring so much joy to so many people.
God bless Penny Miller and everyone else who works with me at the cabin but especially God bless our precious fur babies.
I volunteer at Frankie and Andy’s Place and it is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. The minute you open the door to the cabin you are greeted with more love than you can imagine. The old souls that reside there are the sweetest creatures that God has put on this earth and to think that someone has rejected them because of their age, which is the case most times, just breaks my heart. From big ol’ Boris to teeny tiny Reese these dogs are given such love and great care. It’s so nice to know that regardless of what their past lives may have been, their final days will be filled with love, and joy and sunshine!
You could be having a horrible week, then you go to Frankie and Andy's and you're in a place of magic where you are surrounded by love. We think we're taking care of these senior dogs, but the little secret is that they do as much if not more for all of us. Dogs of different breeds, ages, personalities but each a jewel. You leave every time with a full heart. I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is.
Frankie and Andy’s Place is Heaven on Earth for senior dogs that have been abandoned or other circumstances that leave them homeless. At Frankie and Andy’s they receive round the clock love, home cooked meals, special diets when needed and total care including addressing medical needs. I’ve seen such love and knowledge in one place.
There is no better nonprofit out there and more deserving of being top rated than Frankie and Andy’s Place. Every dog is given 100% by the volunteers of this organization. All funds raised are used completely for the dogs. Each dog receives love, attention and medical care that they do deserve. It truly is my happy place on this Earth!
This nonprofit is hands down the best out there. I’ve personally been involved with Frankie and Andy’s Place for the past two years and have witnessed firsthand they truly walk the walk, every day. Everyone involved is deeply committed to ensuring these seniors have the best care and opportunities to shine and spread their love to any and everyone around.
Frankie and Andy’s place is such an amazing senior dog rescue! Such a heavenly place for these precious pups to live out the rest of their lives!! So well cared for and loved I can’t say enough about how wonderful this place is!!
Frankie and Andy's Place is a slice of heaven for the senior dogs that they rescue from terrible conditions. Staffed by volunteers who adore the pups and supported totally by donations. As a volunteer myself, I look forward to every moment that I spend there!! Taking these dogs out into the community, in turn, brings such joy to the hearts of so many senior men and women. This charity stands above all the rest in the way it helps so many seniors - dogs and humans alike!!
I, originally, came to meet Penny and Peter Miller for help with my reactive senior dog. It was another attempt, having had several prior to it, to help my boy be a happy confident dog, again. Within about 30 minutes, the magic of Penny Miller was very evident! From that moment on, I knew that I needed to be part of her's and Pete's world and their dream for a special place to provide senior dogs, who have been thrown away by their humans for any number of reasons, a safe and loving environment for the time they might have left. This is not just a cabin in the woods, though. If there was ever a magical place that could fill your heart and soul so completely with love, laughter and pure joy, it would certainly be a cabin in the woods called Frankie And Andy's Place (FAAP)!! We have always heard that "it is better to give than to receive". In this magical place, you open your heart just a crack and the love of these senior pups rushes in. You receive so much more from them than you could ever give to them in return!
This dream of the Millers is not achieved, yet, though because there continues to be too many senior dogs in need. The dream is for more space for more dogs. It's not an attitude of if it can be done, but when it can be done!! The cabin is totally staffed by dedicated volunteers who love these seniors as much as their own pups.
The real magic, though, is what the senior dogs bestow on anyone that walks through the door. You are met by these grayed out sometimes toothless faces, bulging tumors, odd gaits due to injuries or medical issues and always happy wagging tails. It's a healing place, not only for trauma these dogs have experienced, but for human trauma, as well. These dogs visit human seniors and bring big smiles and joy to their days. Troubled teens visit the cabin and these pups give them some hope, again, making their hearts open to someone and feel safe, special and needed. It's, indeed, magic for all involved!!
None of this would ever have been possible without the immense heart, selflessness, fortitude and total dedication of Penny, Pete and the very supportive board of directors of FAAP! The inspirational leadership that Penny and Pete provide is the driving force in this magic, though! Their hearts are huge, their drive and enthusiasm is unstoppable and their love and true understanding of these four legged creatures is endless! I feel truly blessed to be able to volunteer at Frankie And Andy's Place!
Frankie and Andy's Place saves senior dogs from euthenization at shelters so they can save others. I've witnessed first hand the power of these animals with mentally challenged adults and elderly people. They have healed hearts when someone has lost their mate after 60 years together, they've helped the elderly find strength when they see the strength these senior dogs have and they've taught the mentally challenged compassion and patience so they may have compassion and patience towards others. It's truly a blessing and awe-inspiring to watch these sweet souls find purpose in their life again, canine and human alike.
I got involved at Frankie and Andy's Place because our family loves dogs and my high school son needed volunteer hours. Perfect, I thought. I didn't know then just how perfect it would be. Frankie and Andy's Place is a cute little cabin nestled in the woods. This environment provides a loving, safe, caring environment for senior dogs that have either been abandoned by their owners or their owners have surrendered them due to lack of funds to provide for them. These dogs still have a lot of life in them and an enormous amount of love to give. Volunteering at this beautiful place is has truly filled a void in my heart that I didn't know existed. Through this opportunity to love on these fur babies, I've also been able to share them with several senior and adult care centers in the area. These dogs bring light into their day and mine! My son has finished with his volunteer hours but doesn't want to stop helping because he loves the dogs and the cause! Can't say enough about the dogs and the tremendous people who volunteer, donate and support this incredible cause!
