I work here very part-time. I have a career and I make enough money, but I choose to work at Frankie and Andy’s one night a week so that I can be surrounded by the love and healing energy of the cabins and sanctuary. I look forward to going in. It’s hard work, and it’s soulful work. But it is so fulfilling and enriching to see once-discarded senior dogs living their final weeks or months (or years!) being treated like literal royalty. If I ever come back as a dog, I want to end up at Frankie and Andy’s Place in my final years. The love, the care, the heart that each person pours into this sanctuary is nothing short of extraordinary.
Frankie and Andy’s Place is so special and filled with love. Every dog who enters the doors is blessed with the very best in healthcare, amazing healthy meals that any human would be thrilled to eat but are designed especially for the needs of these precious seniors. The volunteers and staff are so devoted to giving them the very best for the time they have left. It fills my heart being able to be there and give them the unconditional love they so deserve.
I do volunteer transport for FAAP. These seniors are so blessed to get the very best veterinarian care. They are loved all day/every day by amazing staff and volunteers that truly care and know each of the seniors so well. They are fed wonderful, healthy homemade meals. The cabins are always clean. When dogs come here they live so much longer than we ever expect because of all the love, attention, wonderful food and vet care. It truly is miraculous.
Where to start for this passionate team. They are mix scientist, chef, behaviorist and big hearted softies. They have extreme integrity and answer to the dog's needs, not the humans. Priceless. Nothing like this one.
FAAP occupies the intersection of obsession for the dog's view, expertise in caring for dog's individual needs, chef-prepared custom meals to delight their pups, and selfless devotion to service. Using dogs that the world has discarded and celebrating them, allowing them to serve seniors, and doing this all for love instead of money shows the finest aspect of human care. The best.
An amazing group of people with the biggest hearts!!
Checking back just now, I’ve realized I’ve been a volunteer at Frankie and Andy’s Place for over 4 years. And I can still say this sanctuary for senior dogs is truly a haven for them in their final years. I’m glad to be able to contribute my time, energy, and money to this excellent nonprofit.
Frankie and Andy’s Place is a haven for senior dogs to thrive in their last home on earth. It is a joy to see them happy. And, when they are able, to see them sharing love out in the surrounding community,.
I fostered a senior named "Nick" (now Jason Momoa) for about 6 weeks. He is somewhere between 12-14 years old with severe mobility issues, kidney disease and a severe dislike of riding in a car. I was quite concerned about his future as he needed someone special to make sure that he could live out his remaining days with dignity and with comfort. It was seeming bleak until I got a call from Ireland one Sunday afternoon, when Penny Miller (Founder) asking about Nick and telling me about the sanctuary. I was over the moon that this was going to be Nick's new home although I knew I was going to miss his sweet nature terribly. With the help of some Trazadone to keep him calm during the 45 minute drive to the sanctuary, both Nick and I knew that when we stepped foot onto the sanctuary's grounds that he was home. He fit in so beautifully and didn't have any anxiety about the change. He gets homecooked food specific for his medical issues, beneficial supplements for his joint and kidney issues, he never has to ride in a car (except I guess to the vet's office when needed), he gets to roam around the spacious wooded grounds and play musical beds with all the dog beds available and most importantly, he is surrounded by loving caretakers and volunteers who absolutely adore him.
Fostering is always bittersweet but Nick is living his best life at Frankie and Andy's. I couldn't be more grateful to FAAP for giving seniors dogs (my passion) a beautiful and loving home for the rest of their remaining lives.
P.S. I hope to volunteer for them in my retirement. Can't wait!
The best place for the best pups!! All pups deserve so much love, and have so much love to give, and Frankie and Andys Place is where all that magic happens.
Frankie and Andy’s Place is a dream come true for senior pups!! It’s where they come to get so much love, home-cooked meals and land to roam for the rest of their days!! They never have to worry about being tossed aside because of old age or ailments. The volunteers have hearts of gold!!
I have been working here since Christmas and I must say, I've never been more proud of what we do. And the "bosses" are caring, awesome and they just make sense. The staff and especially the volunteers are so caring.
This wonderful nonprofit has helped so many animals live out their best lives with so much love, compassion and companionship. I know several of the dogs who have made it into their place and am so grateful that they were able to live the life they deserved.
Frankie and Andy’s Place has amazing people who care for terminal dogs if all shapes and sizes. The people truly love the dogs. They provide the absolute best care, home-made food and, a comfy place for these formally neglected dogs to live the rest of their days. The teamwork and dedication of the staff is undeniable upon first glance. I love love love the dogs and the hearts that care for them!
I’ve been a volunteer with Frankie and Andy’s Place for over 6 years now. We have rescued and provided senior hospice care for over 100 senior dogs since our opening. These dogs have all come from their own dreadful, heartbreaking situations and are provided with the love and medical/physical/nutritional care they deserve and so desperately need. An amazing senior dog sanctuary!
I have been a volunteer with Frankie and Andy’s Place since we opened in the spring of 2016. It is truly a magical place for senior dogs and all those involved! It is my happy place and there’s no where else I’d rather spend my time! :)
Frankie and Andy’s Place is an amazing non profit for senior dogs. They take in hospice seniors, injured seniors, discarded seniors, and rescued seniors. The volunteers are devoted to the precious residents there, and take care of their every need.
Frankie and Andy’s took in a senior puggle, with health issues, when we could not find an adopter or foster. I had never seen him so happy or so comfortable. They are a godsend for so many. And I feel at peace knowing Buddy aka James Earl Jones is so well cared for and loved.
what can be more respectful and loving than an organization that rescues seniors that are in need of a friend to help them cross the rainbow bridge. Every story touches my heart. I think they are amazing!
This is the most loving caring place an animal can spend their happily ever after. As a special needs and elder rescue person I know how tough and rewarding this type of rescue is. They are a wonderful organization with caring staff and volunteers. When I retire I plan on being a volunteer myself.
I've been volunteering at Frankie and Andy's Place for years. The dogs are the perfect pick me up when I'm down. They may be old, but they're so full of life and love. Everyone at F & A is dedicated and want to do what is best for all.
I can’t say enough good things about FAP…senior dogs that have been cast aside like yesterday’s trash find their forever home here. They are cared for, loved on, and catered to by staff and volunteers, living like kings and queens for whatever time they have left. It’s an amazing place run by amazing people.
Frankie and Andy’s is a wonderful rescue for elderly pups. So many people dump these sweet pups when they get old and require a lot of care. This rescue gives them a safe and loving home to live out their lives!
Frankie and Andy’s Place is a place where you feel nothing but love from the moment you open the gate. You’ll always be greeted by a smiling dog and that feeling of love stays with you throughout your time there.
The dogs at FAAP are mostly senior dogs that have been rejected or ignored or abused in their former lives but they seem to forget once they join the FAAP family.
Nothing makes me happier than to be able to forget about the outside world and walk through that gate and spend a few hours in the peace and serenity I can only find at FAAP.
If there is a heaven on earth then it is Frankie and Andy’s Place. I can’t begin to describe to feeling that washes over you when you open the cabin door. I have been volunteering at FAAP for I think 3 years now and every time I go there is better than the time before. I bring my special needs granddaughter with me and I just marvel at the way she and the dogs secretly communicate with each other. She can relate to them so much more than she can to humans.
FAAP I love you!
Frankie and Andy's place is my happy place! The dogs at FAAP will never have to wonder again when their next meal is coming. They dont have to worry about when they will receive a kind touch or a lap to snuggle on. These dogs have everything they need and deserve and perhaps for the first time in their lives, they feel safe and loved. You walk into the cabins and you feel at home, surrounded by love and the smell of home cooked food. Theres always a furry shoulder to cry on when you need it and perhaps, for the first time in YOUR life, you feel safe and loved. Theres really nothing better.
As a "troubled human" myself, I have found a home at Frankie and Andy's Place. Between the staff, volunteers, and of course the dogs, you instantly have a family. These dogs are truly miracle workers. From visiting Senior health care facilities to elementary schools, they leave the world a happier place wherever they go. The folks at FAAP work tirelessly to ensure the health and wellbeing of the dogs. There isnt a dog that comes here who isnt treated as a part of the family. I could go on forever about the impact FAAP has had on the community and on a personal level for me.
Everything you've read is true. A beautiful, calm and loving environment for senior dogs. Top notch care and homemade food. Volunteers who love each and everyone of the dogs, but the honest truth is the volunteers get as much or more from the dogs as they give them. We all leave that place with full hearts.
If you love animals, then you'll love Frankie and Andy's. It's one of those rare places, that while it does amazing, amazing things for the sweet dogs (most of which have stories that will bring you to tears), it also blesses the people that volunteer and work there. You just walk into an environment bathed in love ... from four-legged and two-legged creatures alike. Penny would likely have 100 dogs there if she could.
Frankie And Andy’s place is the absolute best senior dog sanctuary around. They rescue senior dogs that have been cast aside by previous owners or found stray. They receive top notch care by loving staff members and volunteers. Theses precious babies spend the remainder of their days knowing they are loved, basking in the sun, eating home cooked meals, spa treatments and frolicking in the gated yard and woods. What a piece of heaven on earth!
Oh where should I begin!!! The people and fur babies at Frankie & Andy’s place are the absolute best I’ve ever met! What an amazing senior sanctuary where dogs that have been cast aside by previous owners or other unfortunate situations get to live out their best life like the movie stars( and are named after them) that they are. Penny & Pete make sure they receive top knotch care right down to the homemade food they receive.. The pups receive constant companionship with the many volunteers and staff members that shower them with love!!! Oh to be blessed to live here!!! I wish all dogs could be so lucky! Never, ever has there been a place like this!! Much love to all involved!❤️
Frankie and Andy’s Place is a little slice of Heaven in the North Georgia woods! Two cabins filled with the most amazing senior dogs, volunteers and staff imaginable. I have had the good fortune of being a volunteer there since the beginning four years ago. We take in the cast-offs, lost, most needy senior dogs who would not likely be rescued or adopted by anyone else. Each dog receives the best vet care from our partners at Gwinnett Animal Hospital. They are treated for any medical conditions and receive follow-up care on a regular basis. They are fed the best food... mostly home cooked at the cabins. They sleep on soft beds or furniture just like most family pets. They get to wander around the yards, and when the weather gets warm they get to visit the swimming pool at the adjacent boarding facility. They love to swim, and it’s so good for their old joints! They also work in the community spreading joy at several local Adult Senior Centers and schools, where we hope to educate the children on the importance of proper care for their family pets. It’s very difficult when we have to say good-bye to one of our senior dogs, but we do so knowing that they lived the best life during their time at Frankie and Andy’s Place.
I could write a book about how wonderful this place is, and how it has profoundly changed my life. I have been a volunteer here for almost three years. If I didn’t live 50+ miles away I would be here every day. Penny and Peter Miller had a dream to create a sanctuary for senior dogs, they surrounded themselves with an incredible group of people and made it happen. It is amazing to see these incredible dogs, most who have been cast off after a lifetime of service to their people, come into the cabin and become part of this family. They are given love by a huge group of volunteers, fed the best food, sleep on soft comfy beds, and receive the best medical attention by Gwinnett Animal Hospital. It is heartbreaking when we have to say goodbye, but the tears quickly go away and become smiles because we know they lived their best days here at Frankie and Andy’s Place.
I love how these special people do not give up on these little old fur babies. Kinda like a retirement home for these babies. Lots of snacks, R & R and riding around, and let's don't forget all the Chick-Fil-A freebies. Just cause they got old doesn't mean throw them away. These little old Fur Babies still have lots of love, yes they can be expensive, stubborn, cranky but they weren't always like this. They're like little Grandma's and Grandpa's. xoxoxox
To say this place is a sanctuary for hurting and tired souls is a massive understatement. Not only for the babies that get the privilege to call this place home but also the volunteers and staff. I started volunteering here as a way to give back to the K9 community and ended up getting a bigger gift in return. The love that FAAP pours into their dogs is incredible and that same love is poured into anyone that is blessed enough to enter the door. These older dogs have so much love to give and so many life lessons to teach and I’m so grateful for a place like this for them to be able to do so. Quite possible heaven on Earth in my opinion.
I have followed them on Facebook for ages. If I lived closer I would be hanging out with those sweet babies every chance I got.
I have been volunteering with Frankie and Andy's Place since its inception. My time there is always the highlight of my week! I love this organization for its holistic approach. It's not just a senior dog sanctuary; these senior dogs have a very important job. They visit senior centers, adult care centers, schools and therapy groups. They help heal and educate people. Despite the unspeakable conditions many of them came from, they love unconditionally and inspire. I have learned so much from all of them and love them as if they were my own. I am equally honored and inspired by my fellow volunteers and staff. Frankie and Andy's Place is the family I choose and I love every moment I can get to be a part of it.
I've been a volunteer with Frankie and Andy's Place since they invited their first resident (Lil Kim) into it's loving space. I've watched this little family (both furry and human) grow, and am still in awe of the magic that happens within it's little campus. I say campus because we have a beautiful new cabin that perfectly complements the original, and I know there will be more. We'v grown from 1 dog to 17 current residents, with more arriving all the time. We've been blessed with over 40 dogs since we started. Some have crossed over the rainbow bridge, and others have found new homes to call their very own. ALL have been amazing. I couldn't be prouder of the volunteer family, the board of directors, and the staff that take such loving care of these special seniors. Everyone brings their open heart and just jumps right in to help anyway they can. I am so honored to be a part of it all and can't wait for the next chapter!
This is one of my favorite places and a real slice of doggie heaven. All the dogs there are seniors, tossed out by their owners, and found homeless in the final stage of their life. Frankie and Andy's Place takes them in and gives them a beautiful space and the opportunity to heal emotionally and physically. These lucky dogs then get the opportunity to spread love, and joy through community outreach visits with humans of all ages and abilities. It's a win, win for the dogs, and the humans in which they interact.
This place is special! Each precious dog there has a sad story of loss and abandonment yet they won the senior dog lottery, so to speak, by being able to live out their golden years at Frankie and Andy’s Place. Despite their history of being failed by people in the past, most dogs show and provide immense love through community outreach at senior centers, day centers and beyond.
Frankie and Andy's Place is far beyond any other animal shelter I have seen. The staff and volunteers truly have a genuine love for animals and that is what fuels their passion and keeps this place a haven for senior dogs. One of my very best friends has volunteered there for years, and I've been lucky enough to be able to join her a few times. The amount of specialized care they provide these senior dogs is unparalleled. From diligent care of scheduling/providing medications, healthy home-cooked meals that rival your family dinners (including special holiday meals complete with menu choices), to crazy amounts of love showered on these sweet souls, plus all the comfy beds, couches and blankets for you could ask for, this place is truly the best! Each one of these dogs is so lucky to be cared for by Frankie and Andy's place. The owners have made dogs their life's work, and it truly shows. I am proud to know some of the people who help make this place run! They are a blessing!
What a wonderful soft landing for these seniors that have been discarded by their families in their latter years. The people here are so caring and the dogs so content and loved it is just so beautiful to see. I am so lucky to be a volunteer here!
I started volunteering after my sweet baby Skeeter passed away. It has become my happy place. Being able to love on these sweet seniors is awesome! The second chance given to these babies that someone basically threw away in their previous life is heart warming. These babies have hit the jackpot!
I discovered Frankie and Andy’s place after the passing of my own senior dog. My sweet 17 year old lab/golden mix, Fiona. The dog that made my whole world. After over a year of carrying her in and out, up stairs and down stairs, daily sheet changes on her dog bed, her sweet soul was ready, but I wasn’t. We used a flannel lined table cloth to keep the messes from getting into the stuffing so all we had to do was wipe it clean and put a new sheet on. What I wouldn’t give to wake up to her sweet face looking up at me and how happy she was when she had a clean sheet on her bed and good snuggle with a yummy biscuit. Stiff joints and incontinence didn’t stop her tail from wagging or her silly doggie smile. Until one evening she came into the room and got on her bed, she slowly looked over at us and I instantly knew. There it was. She was ready. That “I love you but I’m tired” look. It hit my gut like a torpedo. I will never forget that feeling like I will never forget her. She didn’t lift her head again. I will not for one moment ever regret the work it took to take care of her that last year. After all she did for me it was literally the least I could do. Every dog deserves such devotion and I see that in Frankie and Andy’s Place. I see people who will make sure a dog feels just as loved in its last days as it did in its first days. And there is no better way for a dog to leave this world than that.
This organization is a blessing to all of us- they offer a service to our dogs and humans unlike anyone else! They deserve recognition every day!
Such a great rescue! They take in the elderly dogs that no one else wants and allow these dogs to live the remainder of their lives knowing they are loved and cared for.
Such a wonderful way to help senior pups! They are a truly an outstanding organization!
This is most wonderful place - full of love and happiness for Senior dogs that need it the most!
F&A Place excels in every way!
Love this organization and all it does for senior dogs, senior citizens, really for people of all ages. FAAP gives back
to the community in so many ways. Love their Facebook posts - brightens everyone’s days.
Frankie and Andy’s Place is truly heaven on earth for these sweet seniors. The love and care for these dogs is truly immeasurable ..... Not only do the provide a wonderful end to the dogs story they bring joy into the lives of the people they visit as therapy dogs. What a blessing to all❤️
This is an amazing place for unwanted seniors. Frankie & Andy’s Place takes these wonderful souls and makes sure the test of their days are full of love and comfort. They also use these amazing dogs in the community as therapy dogs at the retirement homes. What a true gift with these angels and what a blessing!
I volunteer when I can at this amazing sanctuary for older dogs. Such caring and compassionate staff and volunteers are a rare breed. Frankie and Andy’s Place has them in spades.
Not only does FAAP breathe new life into the animals they care for by providing them with the basics of shelter and food, they take caring for animals to the next level! These dogs are showered with an abundance of love from lots of great volunteers, they find purpose through their service to others, and they an provided with the care they deserve in their last days of life with comfy beds and couches, physical therapy options, and plenty of spacious place outside to roam and be a dog. What a gift to senior dogs! Thank you, FAAP!
Frankie and Andy’s Place is the WHOLE PACKAGE! Its love, compassion, insight into dogs, incredibly motivated and dedicated staff of volunteers, and amazing sponsors make this a paradise for senior dogs in need of a caring, serene environment that makes up for their too many years of abuse, neglect, or otherwise difficult lives. FAAP is our favorite charity and we are very happy to support its important mission.
I have volunteered at FAAP for going on 3 years and am continually impressed and proud of the organization and wonderful home for senior dogs that Penny and Peter Miller have built. It should be the model for all rescues around the world. These senior pups get a new chance at a wonderful life and, in turn, provide emotional support for senior humans in the area, who they visit and bring smiles to on a weekly basis. Just a wonderful, miraculous and magical little piece of heaven for all involved!!
Frankie and Andy's Place is a slice of heaven for the senior dogs that they rescue from terrible conditions. Staffed by volunteers who adore the pups and supported totally by donations. As a volunteer myself, I look forward to every moment that I spend there!! Taking these dogs out into the community, in turn, brings such joy to the hearts of so many senior men and women. This charity stands above all the rest in the way it helps so many seniors - dogs and humans alike!!
Ministering to animals when they are alone or in their later years reflects the boundless limits of love which we possess and do not always extend, so kudos to Frankie and Andy's Place!
Frankie and Andy's Place is not a fairy tale, it is the real thing. Senior dogs are given the respect and love that they deserve when their "owners" can no longer care for them. All of the volunteers make their remaining senior years full of food, comfort and fun! Thank you Frankie and Andy's Place for being a shining star to many.
Bob and Nancy Hammond.
Frankie and Andy's Place exceeded my expectations. Their level and quality of care far surpasses any other rescue group that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Penny and her team have now pulled four senior dogs from the shelter that I work at. Not only were they all greeted with open arms, but they were immediately treated like members of the family and I know that they will be given the most superb and loving care for the rest of their lives. I cannot say enough good things about Penny and her team.
Dirk, Dooper and I LOVE Frankie and Andy's Place!!!
These folks are awesome! My favorite experience was yoga with the senior dogs. We had a ball and the pups enjoyed it, too!
I don’t have a story but I have been following this amazing place on FB! What they are doing for elderly dogs and elderly humans is beautiful and amazing. There should be more places such as Frankie’s and Andy’s
Love watching them give our local forgotten and mistreated senior dogs the happy ending they deserve.
Love Frankie and Andy’s. Compassion and understanding make this the most beautiful place for their senior guests to reside. Thank you for all you do
Frankie and Andy's Place does so much for these older adult dogs! They are an Amazing organization and the awesome care they give these wonderful fur babies!
I volunteered here for a number of years. I saw first hand the love and caring that saved so many senior dogs. Frankie and Andy's is an amazing place. It is by far the best non-profit.
I read the Story about Frankie & Andy's in the Dawsonville newspaper a few months ago. Since then, I have followed Frankie & Andy's on facebook and support them financially. I will begin volunteering with them this year.
I visited F&A and met all the sweet old babies. It is horrific how a family can abandon them because they are old and need more care. They can find everything their hearts need her at F&A. Thank you for being there.
I cannot day enough; oh how I love this facility for senior dogs! These Sr. Dogs have so much left to give and deserve a quiet, warm, and safe place to lay their heads.
Amazing staff, volunteers and dogs!!!
Frankie and Andys Place is a safe haven for our senior dogs that have been abandoned by their owners for various reasons. I volunteer when I can to give love to these amazing seniors. They deserve happiness during their later years. I love giving them walks in the woods, and cuddles on the sofa. They are an amazing pack, and get love every minute of the day. The kindness, care and dedication that is given to them by Penny and Pete is nothing but phenomenal; its a 24/7 job. These dogs enjoy life to their fullest. I cannot express how we need more places like this. No Senior, dog or human should be alone during their final years. Praise to all that volunteer and give to such a great organization...
Been volunteering here for about 3 years, love FAAP and their mission to give abandoned seniors a soft place to land.
No matter what kind of day I'm having, when I walk through the door at Frankie & Andy's Place, it all falls away and my day immediately gets better. It's such a privilege to hang out with the seniors - no matter what their previous situation, at FAAP, they are all treated with love and respect, and they give so much love in return. I love this place.
Auntie Penny and Uncle Pete give their lives to the dogs. Their love and dedication is unsurpassable. Frankie and Andy’s Place is the real thing... love
Great supporter of older dogs who would be euthanized after being dumped by owners Thank you for caring
My husband and I have supported this top notch senior dog rescue for years now. The Millers are tried, tested and proven dog experts in every sense of the word (nutritionally, behaviorally, etc.). They are of the highest integrity and so is every single volunteer and staff. They run a super tight ship in record-keeping, finances, cleanliness, and in the care for senior dogs. I have witnessed this myself plenty of times. The heart that drives this vision is pure, extraordinarily compassionate and huge. When it comes to any charity (and I have seen tons of them so quite frankly I tend to be a natural skeptic), this one is far and above all others. It is very well respected by other animal rescues and animal professionals. I would give it a gazillion stars if I could and it still wouldn’t be enough!
The founders/owners have the purest heart for senior dogs (and all dogs) that my husband and I have ever seen. The dogs are cared for by only the most compassionate, diligent, faithful, accountable volunteers, many of whom I know personally to be women of the highest caliber, character and integrity. The dogs live in the comfiest of quarters with soft beds, cage-free (each one very carefully temp tested), truly a home environment. We support this charity and see it — and the fruit of it — every single week. The Millers not only have the pure, huge heart, they also have the highest standards of excellence in care and also in business and management. Truly the complete model for any animal charity, they far surpass all others in every area.
