Review for A Place Called Home, Los Angeles, CA, USA
A great non-profit is not just an organization based on good intentions and new ideas that are aimed to help its demographic. It's more than that; a great non-profit such as A Place Called Home is much more than just a foundation built from one persons dream to help the community. It stems from something much more than that; a passion deep down within, a passion that is driven by first-hand experience and a vision to WANT to see a change in the community APCH stands for.
When a non-profit is founded on a genuine interest to develop a path to success and long-lasting change, all of its staff, volunteers and members are able to get a taste of this love and care which allows for more forward-moving, positive growth. The core of this foundation -- built upon everlasting generosity, care and support -- is like a foundation to any well-structured home. With a solid foundation that APCH sits on, everything that APCH stands for will continue to maintain a sturdy and focused game plan -- that is to give the community hope, guidance and opportunities that all of its people deserve.
I have been volunteering at APCH for more than a year now and have spent hours and hours working with staff, members and other volunteers. From the moment I read about APCH online, I knew I had to check it out as I also had a passion to want to see change and to give those that are less fortunate an opportunity to strive and succeed. I wanted to see change and as soon as I started volunteering at APCH, I got my first-hand experience at seeing what combing great people with higher hope looks like inside the walls of APCH, the experience was overwhelming in a good sense because I was seeing change; positive change. Whether it was seeing members get served nutritious meals, members being taught general education or seeing the kids open up to staff and volunteers simply because they are there to support and listen.
After years of living near areas that I see are lacking proper resources for youth and seeing people living on the streets, it is comforting to know there are individuals out there with brilliant efforts and compassion to develop something that caters to those that are seemingly controlled by their surroundings. APCH is not just a non-profit, it's a team of people that share the same compassion to help and as a volunteer with the same compassion and eagerness to see positive change, I am lucky enough to be able to see it everyday while working with the members of APCH.
Thank you APCH for doing your part!
