Review for Operation Second Chance Inc, Germantown, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We were able to attend the retreat in Red Lodge Montana. I had never been to this State and was very excited to be invited. This is my first time dealing with Operation Second Chance and it was very well organized and helpful. The volunteers and people within this organization have showed an immense amount of dedication and support. Every where I turned they were bending over backwards to accommodate us. The travel and skiing were great, but what I enjoyed as much of all that was the private time with my wife. We really needed this and it honestly helped us reconnect with so much of lifes activities. We were able to spend a lot of time together (even after Covid lockdowns we really didnt spend that much time together)enjoying each other and just talking. We had ample time to ski together with up to 4 volunteers with us at every turn. Bob (site lead) was gracious and wanted to do even more for us, we didnt have to worry about food reservations, where to go or what to do everything was taken care of for us. We met another couple o]whom we plan on keeping in contact with and the other guests were just as friendly. The town city councilwoman met us the first night along with the Mayor on the second night and what a treat that was. Over all just a bunch of great people I could be around every day!

Review for Black Dagger Military Hunt Club Inc., Tampa, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I recently was introduced to Black Dagger from another wounded veteran in the Tampa area. After registering less than a week previously I was contacted by Dave and Ryan Winters. They both offered any kind of help in its immediacy, but also if I was able to participate in any events ASAP. Of course I said I needed to check but of course. Within a month of the initial contact I was out hunting with them.
Very well organized, the land management and set-up is very well thought out. The compound was impressive with the ancillary benefits of a "camp" outside of a camp. All the volunteers were very eager to meet me and explain their role in the organization. Got to meet and greet with a "sponsor" of the hunt and his wife and they were terrific people! Very professional, very detailed, very organized. Everyone was very respectful and courteous and always asking if we needed anything in preparation for the hunt. Even if I had forgot something they had all the necessary equipment to show up in boxer shorts!
First we did the introductions, safety briefs, and then a little more on the types of animals that are out in the preserve, but also that they have at other staging areas in town. We then went out for weapons safety and practice/zero. I think it was an added bonus that the trappers had showed up about an hour before we were getting ready to leave for the hunt, but they had brought about 12 boars to the farm for release. It was pretty neat to see them all in the cages, before they got turned loose on the property.
Overall and awesome experience with even greater people. You can't put a price tag on something like that. Great bunch of guys and gals that I plan on keeping in touch with over the years!
