Education Through Music is a remarkable organization that provides inner-city students access to music education. Not only do they place teachers in these schools but they make sure that the teachers have access to an array of resources and instruments to enrich the general music experience. I am so grateful to have started my teaching career with ETM. The level of support that I received far exceeded what you would see as a first year teacher of a non-core subject in a school district. And the support that I was given allowed me to better support my students musical education. I see music as an equalizer. Students who may struggle with core subjects can find success in the music room which can in turn motivate their performance in other subjects. I can see the impact that music education has had on my students and I know that without ETM they would not have those experiences.
