Review for Merwin Conservancy, Haiku, HI, USA
The Merwin Conservancy is a wonderful organization that is working to preserve a palm forest lovingly planted by W.S. Merwin and his wife, Paula, on Maui. The forest had been described as agricultural wasteland due to the farming practices of the pineapple company that owned the land previously. I have been lucky enough to tour this forest and it is thick and beautiful. Hopefully, this natural landscape can be preserved and enjoyed for generations to come.
Review for Vail Valley Charitable Fund Inc, Edwards, CO, USA
The VVCF assists Eagle country residents who have experienced medical crisis, allowing them to focus on healing. Every community could benefit from this type of organization providing compassionate support for those in need.
Review for Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc., Haiku, HI, USA
This Sanctuary currently is home to many species of primates. Currently there are 4 interns and one Manager on staff. All help is volunteer and the food is mostly donated. A solar system was recently installed and they could use some funds to help pay for that but it will greatly cut down on the electric bills.
As a volunteer, I help prep food and clean enclosures. The monkeys are not on display to the public and live peacefully with superb care from everyone involved. The property includes an organic garden to help produce fresh, healthy food for animals and interns. I knew very little about this organization when I signed on to volunteer and am impressed with the professional demeanor of the staff and the wonderful care given to the animals.
Review for Mountain Valley Horse Rescue, McCoy, CO, USA
The woman who runs this nonprofit is compassionate about all animals and it really shows. She works diligently to save horses in the most pathetic conditions and situations, just what you'd hope for from this type of nonprofit. She gets her whole family involved in her rescue efforts by enlisting their help at fundraising pony rides and events. If you love horses, you can feel confident that your donation to this nonprofit will go to save those animals that need help the most.

Review for BRIGHT FUTURE FOUNDATION FOR EAGLE COUNTY, Avon, CO, USA
Every community deserves to have an organization that supports victims of domestic violence like the Bright Future Foundation. With a victim's hotline available in English or Spanish, crisis intervention services, and a buddy mentoring program this organization is a valued nonprofit in Eagle County.

Review for Vail Valley Charitable Fund Inc, Edwards, CO, USA
The Vail Valley Charitable Fund financially assists locals who are overwhelmed by costs associated with a medical crisis. I donate to this organization because I don't want to see local families declare bankruptcy over a serious medical issue. People who have serious medical conditions should focus on healing, not on how to pay for a procedure or treatment.
This organization relies on donations from individuals and local businesses, go support them today at www.vvcf.org

Review for Walking Mountains Science Center, Avon, CO, USA
Walking Mountain Science Center has a great local presentation series called The Science Behind. The topics are always useful or locally relevant, like "how to compost". The fee to attend is sometimes nothing and other times includes a small amount to cover presentation materials. How to Compost was $15 to attend but included making your own compost bin to take home with you afterwards. My only complaint is that these fill up so fast! I called too late for the first Composting presentation and then was out of town during the second presentation held to accommodate all the people that signed up too late. Oh well, I will call earlier to get on the list next year.
