Review for Global Autism Project, Brooklyn, NY, USA
Since I first heard about The Global Autism Project in 2011, I've been floored that none of the other big autism organizations in america are working on combating Autism in other countries. i chatted with their founder and learned that they had been working on this cause for ten years, and they are continually expanding into new countries, including Saudi Arabia and Indonesia! This cause is important to me because I lived in Indonesia and I know how difficult it can be to change entrenched attitudes about people who are different from others. I was shocked to learn that in some countries, Autism is seen as something that calls for an exorcism! And exorcisms include beating the child! Global Autism Project is doing important work on a shoestring, and I highly recommend that you give to them.

Review for HOPE, Duluth, GA, USA
I first learned about HOPE Inc earlier this year, when the founder contacted me for fundraising advice. I've worked in a lot of different nonprofits, sat on nonprofit boards, and have been writing for three years about the nonprofit sector. After learning about their programs, I was astonished that no one else was serving the clients they serve in Georgia. They are truly filling a desperate need in helping single parents finish college. A friend of mine is an adult student in college and it is extremely difficult for him to work fulltime and finish school. I can only imagine how much harder it is when you have kids to take care of as well. I learned how efficient HOPE Inc are with their funds, and it's truly remarkable, how many people they are helping with such a tiny budget! They have more people requesting their services than they can handle. When parents finish college, their kids will be more likely to finish college as well. And a college degree is one of the best ways to get economic upward mobility. They are truly helping generations of people escape poverty. If you're looking for a small, dedicated and efficient nonprofit to give to, I would give to them.
