I traveled with the Global Autism Project as a member of Skillcorps in July 2018 to a partner site in Uganda. This organization is built on strong values that promote collaboration, on-going support, and sustainable evidence-based practices for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities around the world. I recently attended leadership academy, which is just one professional development offered to vision and mission oriented professionals among many others, and couldn't feel more prepared as a leader. I highly recommend getting involved to create a world where all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential!
I’ve worked at the Global Autism Project since June of 2018, and I don’t think I’ve worked for an organization that understands what life with autism really is all about. As one of their autistic workers myself, I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised to be around people who genuinely do recognize that high-functioning autistic people like me have 99 problems and autism is just one. Thus, I’ve worked towards creating a self-advocacy training course for autistic people around the world. I am also working on a book called The Writer’s Guide to Autism.
I traveled with Global Autism Project in 2014 and am traveling again next summer! When I went to Peru we worked with a center there and provided staff training and support across a two week period. Unlike other organizations which do work for their partners, we worked with the center in Peru and asked the staff to tell us about what they needed support around. We then provided training in those areas. We also did outreach to parents and families to help build awareness and inclusion for people with Autism. I can’t say enough about the incredible work this organization does to empower local communities and create sustainable change. I highly recommend traveling, volunteering, and supporting this organization!
I traveled with the organization to India in February 2018. I am blown away by their ability to create sustainable change for children with disabilities around the world. The experience is one I will never forget. I recently attended their leadership academy and am so excited to stay involved with the project. The trip and the organization continues to have an amazing impact on my life professionally and personally.
The Global Autism Project Is providing unique opportunities for individuals around the world to recieve sustainable training and help their community of people with autism reach their highest potiential! The organization continues to grow because WE believe everyone deserves a chance to be their best selves!
If you ever have doubts of the goodness of people, you need to travel and get to know this amazing non-profit. Passionate people, actual changes, and good hearts. Global autism project has a special place in my heart.
I always wanted to travel the world and create meaningful changes using the skills i learned and the science i love, Global Autism Project gave me exactly that! as i traveled with them to Nairobi, Kenya last august.
Being an international student living in a foreign country, i am very particular and careful when dealing with people from different backgrounds and cultures. i don't ever want to impose my views, ideas and what i "think is right" to those who do not share mine. Thankfully, this organization shares that and i felt it first hand. we did not go there with a plan to duplicate a pre-selected model. Instead, we observed and worked with what is there already to improve it. it was challenging, exciting, rewarding and a great learning process for everyone involved.
From my short experience with this organization, i can confidently say that creating a sustainable change is possible and is very much beautiful to see! Thank you Global Autism Project for the coolest, most rewarding, adventurous trip so far!
I traveled to Indonesia with the Global Autism Project in July 2017, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. I worked closely with other professionals and with the amazing women who work at the center in Jakarta. This organization works tirelessly to educate the world and improve the lives of individuals with autism everywhere! Sustainable practice ensures that the work this organization does throughout the world is maintained and carried on with Independence in partner sites. It has been a privilege volunteering , and I am looking forward to my next trip with the Global Autism Project.
I had such an amazing experience with the Global Autism Project. Collaborating with autism professionals worldwide through my trip to Nicaragua was incredible and was beneficial to all partners involved! I highly recommend getting involved in this organization!
My journey with global autism project began October of 2015. Since then I have been to three different countries, met people that have become concrete parts of my life, experienced soul changing events and strive to see the success and importance of this work spread everywhere. It is so important and since being apart of this organisation my life has truly been impacted in the best way!
After spending time in Kenya collaborating with other skillcorps members and the staff at Kaizora I have returned thrilled to be planning my second trip with Global Autism Project! The way they help disseminate ABA world wide and empower those who are spreading autism acceptance within their country is amazing. There is no way that I can see myself stepping away from an organization that is doing so much great things globally.
My trip to Kenya with the Global Autism Project was a life changing experience. The dedicated volunteers and staff of Global Autism Project are doing amazing work all around the globe. I am proud to be a member of their extended family!
I traveled to Kenya this past year with the Global Autism Project and was forever changed!
The work and energy that goes in to create and promote autism awareness around the world is truly incredible. Not only are we able to spread the word, we're able to create sustainable change that influences the lives of many. So fortunate to be apart of an organization doing so much good for communities around the world!
The Global Autism Project has their heart in the right place. They are doing really great work with the help of a huge volunteer base which is comprised of highly skilled professionals and people who have the same idea. Their focus is their client and the different needs they may have. I am a donor and volunteer and happy to be. The great thing is you don't have to travel to be a supporter. There are many roles you can play to be involved. Join the movement for better opportunities for all - in your own way!
I travelled with the Global Autism Project to Indonesia and have donated to many charities in the past. The Global Autism Project stands out from all of these in one major aspect: their aim towards sustainability and how it's all about helping the partner site reach independence. Partners are taught the tools and procedures so they can then have unlimited impact on local services. Volunteering with the Global Autism Project is also an enlightening experience for anyone who wants to collaborate with other, diverse professionals towards a common goal - helping the autism community globally!
I traveled to India with this organization and I learned more about myself both personally and professionally than I ever thought I would. It was an amazing experience. The trip leaders really contributed to us getting the most out of the trip, it wouldn't have been the same without them. I can't wait to go again
I have just returned back from my third trip with Global Autism Project and I'm already planning my fourth trip. I have travelled to Indonesia in March 2015, Prague in March 2017 and then returned to Prague in Aug 2017.
What keeps me coming back to this organization and donating my time is seeing their mission of building local capacity come to fruition across the globe. I absolutely love the sustainable partnerships that they create with each site to have long lasting impact. Among so many other things, this is what has truly kept me engaged with this organization and wanting to do more.
This organization is truly amazing. Their staff and volunteers are wholeheartedly dedicated to making a difference world wide. I traveled with GAP to Kenya and it changed my life! I 100% support the work that they do.
A truly amazing organization to be a part of! Global Autism Project brings together an incredible group of dedicated professionals from all over the world to provide quality training and promote awareness and acceptance of autism all over the globe.
I've traveled to 3 partner sites with SkillCorps and I could not put my experiences into words. It's definitely changed my life being able to train AMAZING teachers and therapists in countries where the passion is there but the resources are not.
Amazing organization! I have been working with the GAP for a few years now. Being able to see the organization grow and blossom into an incredibly strong and sustainable resource for individuals with autism, their families, and professionals in the field around the world, is truly a blessing!
The experience to participate in a SkillCorps trip with the Global Autism Project starts before you even step foot in the office. The organization establishes personal growth as well as the growth and development of the partners we work with in country. Each aspect of the Global Autism Project pushes you in some way to reach a new potential, whether it is fund raising, experiencing a new country and language, or working to support the staff and students at the centers. This organization does something uniquely different and I knew instantly that I would be traveling with them again after my first trip. The Global Autism Project certainly focuses on promoting awareness and acceptance of autism, but it goes beyond that as well. To provide information and trainings to support the centers in providing the children with autism with best practice for therapy is on going. Your job does not end after the 2 weeks, it continues to develop and establish itself in the center and the ways in which the staff work with the students. This is quite incredible really; to know that you have not just made an impact in those 2 weeks, but to know that the work you have put in will continue to support and change the lives of the students, their families, and the staff, makes the Global Autism Project much more than just a volunteer opportunity. This is what makes it an exceptional nonprofit with the capability to make lasting change for communities around the globe.
