Review for Enduring Hearts, Inc, Marietta, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Enduring Hearts is the only national nonprofit in the pediatric heart transplant space solely dedicated to funding research that helps kids with heart transplants live longer, healthier lives. Heart transplants are not a cure, but rather a bridge to life, and statistics show this to be true. One in four kids requires a new heart during the first five years. Then heart transplants on the average only last 12 years, so the need is urgent. I've had the incredible fortune of not only assisting and attending with multiple community events, but meeting several of the extraordinary pediatric heart transplant recipients directly connected to the urgent work of Enduring Hearts. What has stood out the most is their positive outlooks and tireless desire to make the most of life and live ordinary lives. It is through conversations with these patients that you see how Enduring Hearts is advancing the aforementioned research in a game-changing fashion, while also supporting heart families in their respective journeys by providing gas cards and road to recovery tote bag programs. The organization's footprint at medical institutions and children's hospitals continues to expand throughout North America at an impressive pace.Their leadership team, from the Founder/Treasurer to the Executive Director to the President Board of Directors are some of the smartest, creative, and most passionate and connected people I've ever met in the nonprofit sector, and their future is incredibly bright. This is without question a nonprofit to watch closely in the coming years. Review for TurningPoint Breast Cancer Rehabilitation , Atlanta, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

TurningPoint Breast Cancer Rehabilitation (www.myturningpoint.org) supports women with breast cancer by offering services such as physical therapy, massage therapy, counseling, nutritional counseling, and education programs. TurningPoint is a game changer for those women during their journey towards a return to normal routines and a full recovery. There are patients from all socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds who visit TurningPoint's facility, and over the past 12 years, nearly 3,000 women have been served. Forty percent of all patients receive some kind of financial assistance and no woman is ever turned away to a lack of insurance or inability to pay. TurningPoint founder and executive director Jill Binkley is also a practicing physical therapist and a two-time breast cancer survivor. Jill is a rock star as is everyone who works on the TurningPoint staff. Less than 10 percent of all women are recommended to incorporate exercise and rehabilitation into their treatment plans. This is a number that needs to increase, and part of the mission of TurningPoint is to raise awareness regarding the importance of engaging in activities pertaining to exercise and rehabilitation.

Review for Project Grad-Atlanta Inc, Atlanta, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've gotten to know the work of Project GRAD Atlanta very well the last couple of years as a volunteer and Board member and could not be more impressed with this organization and all it is doing to move the needle when it comes to impacting the lives of young people and the work they are doing in the classroom on the path to high school and college graduation. This is an organization that doesn't just talk the talk, they act every single day while working with a broad range of aspiring students and show the fruits of their labor with exceptional metrics. The bottom line is Project GRAD is having an enormous effect on the lives of hundreds of young people in Atanta every year. The staff is topnotch, led by executive director Dr. Yolanda Watson Spiva, one of the most accomplished educators in Atlanta.
