Review for Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue, San Jose, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been part of Mickaboo for over 20 years now and I continue to be impressed and grateful for the way this organization is managed (solely by volunteers who dedicate hours and hours of each day to keeping Mickaboo running in a fiscally responsible manner). I have seen Mickaboo's volunteers pull off miracle rescues for birds over and over again. Mickaboo is truly a five-star non-profit!

I support CWOB monthly with a small donation. If I could give them $100 a month, or more, I would! They are the epitome of a well-run, grass roots organization. The work they do for animals also does a lot for people, not just locally, but also in Mexico. Just the work they do to help implement humane euthansia at shelters in Mexico justifies the high rating I give them. The methods used in Mexico are awful, and I'm sure they are awful for the humans as well. I love that CWB has clinics locally for low-income communities. This reduces the numbers of dogs that will end up as strays or surrendered to shelters. A person who loves their animal, but cannot afford care, must be so relieved and happy to get help from CWB to keep their animal healthy. It surely means the world to them and that is seen by the long lines of people and animals waiting to be seen at their FREE clinics. I can't say enough about CWB, every email I get from them is POSITIVE. It's not necessary to horrify people to get them to donate. I love donating to CWB because I see the positive outcomes. I'm sure there are animals they cannot help, and have to leave behind, but they process that pain and keep on going! Another wonderful thing they do, here in California, is take dogs from high-kill shelters and transfer them to shelters where they will get adopted - even flying them to out-of-state shelters! I think CWB is pretty much the #1 small, grass-roots, non-profit I could possibly support. I hope someday, when I can have my own dog, I'll be able to adopt a Meximutt from CWB. I just love what they do so much!

Review for Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions, San Francisco, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have known the director, Elizabeth Young, for a number of years, through my volunteer work with Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue. Over and over I have been amazed at the dedication she shows to pigeons and doves, and really all animals, but her focus is on these neglected birds. Elizabeth, and MickaCoo, have saved so many birds, whether from shelters, or wildlife hospitals, or simply the mean streets. Whenever there is an adoption fair, they are there, they never rest. I am just in awe of Elizabeth and of MickaCoo. They are so deserving of support!
