The incredible staff at Hope Services' Aptos, CA Senior Center is made up of truly beautiful, delightful, loving Angels. Each and every one deeply enriched our dear Alan's life and showered him with love, fun, music, art, celebrations, parties, and everything he could have hoped for to start his retirement. They represent everything we could have possibly imagined and hoped for in our wildest dreams for Alan. He spent his last year of life with them. The Hope Services Senior Center staff made it his happiest ever. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the stellar Hope Services Aptos CA Senior program and staff. We humans are not nearly as smart as we think we are (though the 50th anniversary of the moon landing reminds us we CAN be!!!). Case in point, we think we know it all, but in fact we know SO little about other species, yet we're quick to assume we're "tops" in every category! I took a tour of Animal Place's jaw-dropping facilities years ago and came away inspired, diet transformed, since. Allowed to simply be themselves at Animal Place, the various farmed animals they've rescued demonstrate their widely-varying personalities, expressions of friendship, joy in living, and devotion to friends, family, care providers, visitors... Animal Place has made it possible for them to transform from the heinous traumas caused them by humans, traumas hard to imagine ever overcoming. Turns out, Love IS All You Need! Animal Place's exemplary, unconditional love, respect, kindness and care makes for miracles every day. They inspire humans like me to try to model what humans can, should, and MUST become to coexist and create a sustainable future for all of us. Thank you Animal Place!!

Having met founder Kim Sturla, I took a tour of Animal Place and have been a fan and advocate since. It is far more than a shelter for the farmed animal victims of humans' brutality. It is an inspirational and very much "live" educational experience for us humans to see what is sadly, routinely hidden from all of us. These farmed animals are not "products" but amazing, sensitive, very social beings with charming, varied and wonderful personalities. We humans can and must learn from them - the animals and Animal Place - about our own arrogance and cruelty, and urgent need to change. We "planetary bullies" can and must find our humanity and save ourselves, and all life on the planet. Thank you Animal Place. You are an inspiration.
