Could not have navigated this daunting journey without them.
Great information/videos guiding one throughout any question, decision one may have.
Their Helpline is wonderful and they are responsive and accurate. Also there is not limit in the exchange of conversations/emails, so one is not left hanging. This ability to reach out and getting a response is huge when things during this journey changes almost consistently.
Highly recommend reaching out!
Many thanks for all the help- PCRI!!
Discovering Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI) a while back really changed my battle with prostate cancer.
Now, with my cancer in remission, I've got to give credit to PCRI for all their help. Their info and support gave me the knowledge to make good decisions about my treatment.
PCRI made a huge difference in my fight, and I'm so thankful for their help. If you're dealing with prostate cancer, seriously, check out PCRI—they're more than just a bunch of facts, they're a crew that really cares and can make a real difference in your journey.
As a close friend, witnessing the profound impact of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI) on my friend's battle with prostate cancer has been humbling.
PCRI provided the help he really needed. The positive change I saw in him after connecting with PCRI was incredible. My friend was really lost and confused.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to whomever is responsible for your YouTube videos!
Before finding the Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI), I was lost, angry, and pissed off patient due to my diagnosis and lack of help from the medical establishment. PCRI's information gave me some hope, and enough information that I could discuss my case with my doctors. Most importantly, I learned from PCRI the questions I should be asking, which in turn, led me down the path to optimal treatment.
Your help was given to me when I was in a bad place. Soooo grateful.
They supported my father during his prostate cancer battle. The information and support were sorely needed. My dad, like many men didn't want to ask for help! Their YouTube videos significantly influenced his care. We are deeply grateful for PCRI's guidance. There is no way we would have been able to get the quality of care for my dad without PCRI.
Thank you PCRI!!
I apologize, but this is going to be a long and quite detailed review.
The Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI) has been a game-changer in my prostate cancer journey. After feeling dissatisfied with the information I was receiving from my doctors, stumbling upon PCRI's videos on YouTube felt like a blessing.
I was feeling lost and frustrated with the information I was getting about my diagnosis and treatment options. It seemed like there was always a lack of comprehensive details or the explanations were too technical for me to grasp. That's when I discovered PCRI's YouTube channel.
Their videos were a revelation! They broke down complex medical concepts in a way that was easy for me to understand. These weren't just generic overviews; they delved into specifics and nuances that my doctors hadn't covered. It was like having a knowledgeable friend explain everything in simple terms, which was incredibly empowering.
What impressed me the most was the depth of knowledge and clarity they provided. The videos covered various treatment options, side effects, and practical advice for managing the condition. It was a relief to find information that spoke directly to my concerns and gave me a clearer picture of what to expect.
Thanks to PCRI's YouTube content, I felt more informed and confident when discussing options with my healthcare team. It provided me with the necessary knowledge to ask the right questions and participate more actively in my own care.
The impact of PCRI's YouTube videos on my understanding and decision-making has been immense. I'm truly grateful for the valuable resource they've provided. For anyone else feeling overwhelmed or dissatisfied with the information they're getting, I highly recommend checking out PCRI's YouTube channel. It might just be the answer you've been searching for in your journey with prostate cancer.
The PCRI is just awesome! When I was dealing with my diagnosis, they were like a guiding light in a really tough time. Their info about the cancer, treatments, and all that stuff was laid out in a way that even a guy like me, can understand.
Their website and materials are super helpful. Makes you feel like you're part of a big team fighting this thing together.
I'm grateful beyond words for the PCRI. My husband is a living testament to the impact of their work. The support, knowledge, and hope they provided not only guided us through a difficult phase but also played an instrumental role in my husband's recovery. We owe a debt of gratitude to the PCRI. Thank you!
Today, as a survivor who has navigated this journey with a sense of understanding and control, I owe a significant part of my success in fighting prostate cancer to the indispensable support provided by PCRI. Their dedication to education, support, and advocacy has positively influenced my personal battle with this disease
After being referred to the Prostate Cancer Research Institute, all our anxiety, frustration, confusion and ignorance disappeared. With knowledge comes such peace and clarity.
This organization is a one-stop shopping for any man with a Prostate concern.
What could have been a journey into the unknown was transformed into a confidant, well navigated road to good health care decisions- all because this non-profit truly cares!
Would definitely recommend you start here with any concerns or issues.
I have been listening to many of the videos that so many excellent doctors and presenters have made at PCRI's conferences and they are absolutely superb. So much valuable information that helped me make some decisions about my own cancer treatment approach. I called today with a specific question that I posted and John Shearron from Chicago called me back within a couple hours. His knowledge and suggestions were outstanding and gave me additional ideas to consider for my treatment which none of my doctors have mentioned. Thank you so much John for spending the time you did with me, and for sending me all of the information following our call. I was so impressed that you have volunteered your time and knowledge and are willing to share it with others.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was very worried about keeping my active life style. unfortunately Doctors mission is to cure the cancer. PCRI was willing and able to go through all the different options of treatment with both the plus/minus of each. It was nice and comforting to talk to people who understood how scary it is to be faced with cancer. They took the time in 3 separate calls to talk me through my options as they saw them. A special thanks to Sylvia and Jonathan for answering soo many questions. You all make a difference.
My first experience with PCRI goes back a few years, before the pandemic. I attended one of their conferences in Los Angeles. I didn't know what to expect and I couldn't have guessed the level of care and expertise made available to us, prostate cancer survivors. There were multiple break out sessions, and various experts presenting on different topics in the main ballroom. At that point in my prostate cancer journey, I had not yet been exposed to so much good information, all in one location. I was duly impressed!
Fast forward a few years and I'm now addicted to their YouTube channel. Binge watching various different topics. I 'm so happy I stumbled upon PCRI. I feel like I've received a graduate level education in prostate cancer treatment.
I support them and hope you will too.
The PCRI is a nonprofit that helps anyone who has to deal with prostate cancer.... whether a patient, caregiver, loved one, etc.
They have a free YouTube channel (very helpful videos), a free helpline (where you can receive individual guidance), a free website (very informative articles and good information) and two conferences (annually). All these "tools" provide well guided assistance when navigating the world of Cancer.
Prior to subjecting oneself to having to follow doctor's advice or choose a treatment plan, Everyone should arm themselves with education and information. Would strongly suggest you visit the Prostate Cancer Research Institute and see first hand what they have to offer.
My husband was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. We were both scared and concerned about our future together. Traversing the medical minefield of doctors, medical assistants, insurance and our own fears became exhausting.
My friends husband had prostate cancer a few years ago, so I reached out to her. She too had to endure the medical "minefield" I was currently experiencing, until she found PCRI. I had no idea what PCRI was or if they could help, and being the skeptic I am, wasn't ready to believe they could.
I'm here to say I was wrong. I am so incredibly grateful for the help they provided. I cannot begin to express our thanks to PCRI. They helped educate us, and made us feel empowered to get my husband the best care possible.
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few years ago. Honestly, it scared the heck out of me. I was having a difficult time getting information out of my doctor's office. Because I didn't jump at their first suggestion, to have surgery, they became less interested in providing information I could use to make a decision.
I stumbled upon PCRI's YouTube channel and was blown away by all the information available. After binge watching as many videos as I could comprehend, I called their helpline to get clarification on some of my questions. All I can say is they helped me more than all the highly paid medical professionals and their services were free!
I'm thankful that PCRI is there for guys like me, that didn't know where to turn.
After having been thrown into the world of prostate cancer, I was so relieved to have found the PCRI. The Helpline was my initial go to which is great because you get to speak to a live person who helps you individually. However, their YouTube videos are phenomenal. You can seach out any specific topic that you need more information on and then in a relaxed setting watch the video and stop and start it over and over again until you understand all that you need to before moving on to a doctors appointment or treatment decision. Having all this education and information made me feel empowered to handle my healthcare in an intelligent manner- secure and confident! Would recommend them to anyone facing this journey in their lives. I was fortunate to be guided in this manner! Peter Douglas
Their individual, one-on-one, free Helpline was a true gift to me. Received guidance every step of the way after having been thrown into this "scary" world of CANCER!
They do not have an "agenda", as they do not receive payment for promoting one treatment over another, therefore there is no bias. What I received was knowledge to better understand my diagnosis thereby giving me the education I needed to choose the best course of treatment for ME! Truly appreciate all that they do.
I was guided to the institute by a close friend during a time when I was reeling from the news that I had cancer. My complete lack of knowledge in this area added to my stress. I did not know there was a group out there like this.
The level of professionalism, knowledge and genuine caring that I experienced has been amazing. Tools provided by PCRI allowed me to go into my doctor's office prepared and extremely informed for both diagnostic and treatment options. Suggestions I was able to relay to my doctors dramatically changed my outlook and the course of action for my situation. Forever grateful to Ms Silvia Cooper and the Prostate Cancer Research Institute.

This is a classic case of a for profit with a non profit arm. Just google the primary speaker in the majority of the youtube videos, etc., and you will quickly realize he offers treatment for prostate cancer. Read the tax returns and you will see that while he is not paid, two of his relatives are the only paid staff for the nonprofit.
There is nothing wrong with this, but it is difficult not to assume that this is an "altruistic" [perhaps] "unbiased" source of information provided by people who are volunteering their time just because they care.
They may still be altruistic, unbiased people, but this nonprofit is surely an effective form of marketing for their medical practice, which is not a nonprofit at all.
Review from Guidestar
PCRI provides the very most up to date tried and true as well as cutting edge Prostate Cancer information — as delivered by world re known experts at multi- day twice a year seminars. Plus it’s webitw is brim full of the recordings of same. And it has live individuals at the 800 number.
This was especially calming for me when diagnosed in 2013.
In 2015, my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer that had metastasized into the bone. After nine rounds of standard chemotherapy, his PSA began to rise and things were looking bleak. We then heard about the PCRI, and we attended our first convention where we met Dr. Mark Scholz. He immediately placed my husband on "advanced" treatments which has put the cancer in remission with undetectable PSA. The latest bone scan has shown amazing recovery and healing. Thanks to the PCRI, I still have my loving husband.
The work that PCRI does is over and beyond our greatest expectations. As a caregiver, I feel much more confident communicating with my husband’s team of doctors and feel like I can stay on top of the current educational resources, so that my husband can receive the best quality care relating to his disease. Thank you for your time. Thank you for your continued dedication, working tirelessly to provide support to all of us caregivers and patients who are living with this disease and may feel as though there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
I've feel very fortunate to have found PCRI.org They've been a great source of information and help. I attended a number of their conferences and in doing so have been able to meet other men in my same situation. It's been invaluable to me to be able to talk to other men like myself. PCRI's Help Line is also another godsend. In addition they have a YouTube channel with quite a few informational videos that have been immensely helpful. All I can say is that if it wasn't for PCRi, I wouldn't have had the access to the latest prostate cancer knowledge and the peace of mind that comes from not being left in the dark regarding my disease.
My name is Bob Alderman. I am a stage four terminal bone cancer patient. I’ve had prostate cancer for 16 years. I have an amazing oncologist, Dr Sandy Liu at UCLA. My cancer got very aggressive. So did we. We hit it pretty hard, and after radiation, and chemo I had a radiation drip. Zoviga from Bayer. It was a six month treatment, and during that time I was in contact with Bayer. I pitched a lifestyle/wellness show, and they decided to help. They work through PCRI. I was put in contact with Alex. I wasn't expecting what I got. I got young progressive thinking people, with the same passion I have to help patients get through this horrible time. It’s hard for cancer patients to talk to “civilians”, but the whole PCRI crew is so in tune with what the disease is, it’s like hanging out with people you’ve know a very long time. I am very thankful for that. As far as doing business with them, they are way above board professionally. I am looking foreword to many more years working with Alex, and crew.
I credit PCRI with the fact that I have avoided aggressive and invasive responses to the very low-level prostate issues that I have experienced. The organization does a fantastic job of informing and empowering men at all stages of the disease and their partners/caregivers.
PCRI has been an incredible gift for me. I have stage 4 Prostate cancer and I want to understand in detail all the options. Everything I want to know and even things I didn’t know I wanted to know, can be found on this site. Keep up the great work!!

I met Mark Scholz, founder of PCRI just AFTER I had a Prostatectomy for PCa. (Too bad it wasn't before). That was in 2006 and he has helped me every step of the way to reverse a slowly rising PSA following the surgery. I have seen him every 3-6 months ever since and continue to this day as he knows exactly what to do for each of his many patients to achieve their best possible outcome. After getting a special CT/PET scan at his direction and seeing an expert radiologist for just 5 treatments, again at his direction, my PSA is currently
On three occasions I have attended PCRI's fall conference. In mind, it is the best patient conference in the country-medically sound, up to date and patient focused. I facilitate two prostate cancer support groups in Chicago, and a number of our members have also attended the conference one or more times. We always bring good information back from the conference, and I have used the conference videos in my group.
In August of 2014 I thought I was flying 2,500 miles to see a doctor to be treated for prostate cancer. Little did I know that I was embarking on an educational adventure and a new career as an advocate for men with this disease. PCRI has been an incredible inspiration to me. I have attended six annual conferences now and leave each year wondering why there aren't such conferences for patients with many other serious diseases. In my opinion, this is how medicine should be practiced - exposing patients to all the experts and information they need to make informed decisions about their health and well being. What a standard and example PCRI sets for the medical community.
How can I say what PCRI has meant to me without sounding like a shill? I guess I could say; "It saved my life". But that would be rather dramatic and perhaps over the top. But PCRI and the doctors and professionals I have encountered and learned from, as well as the many patients I have met at the annual conferences with whom I continue to share experience and camaraderie with, have empowered and inspired me to advocate for other men dealing with prostate cancer. PCRI has given me the tools and "know how" to manage my own disease and guide my journey. Rather than feeling like prostate cancer has stripped me of my manhood and left me to the mercy of doctors, PCRI has encouraged me to join a powerful team of physicians, researchers, and patients who are constantly expanding the treatment and management options before us. PCRI is empowerment!

PCRI - What a great staff of people. Hi I am Larry Gerber with the Walnut Gang (a Prostate Support Group in Fountain Valley, California). This group is dedicated to helping newly diagnosed men, supporting them with up to date information, and supporting them after their procedures.
PCRI is one of OUR most important contributor of information ( w/ a booklet - Prostate Cancer Staging Guide and other material). They also provide a staff of very professional people that can speak to all phases of treating Prostate Cancer. They also have a website - pcri.org - that contains links, videos, and other up to date information on or about Prostate Cancer.
Twice a year PCRI conducts conferences ( Midyear - 1 day in March and and the 3 day in usually in Sept.) These conferences bring together great speakers and up to date information in the world of Treatment of newly diagnosed and reoccurring metastatic Prostate Cancer. There is time to question the speaker personally and to see vendors that support the world of Prostate Cancer.
As a Support Group - PCRI - play a large part of our meetings with topics that come up about Prostate Cancer. Topic about subjects that are contained in the Prostate Cancer Staging Guide. the Hows and Where for the proper treatment that YOU decide on, Questions to ask doctors , all written in layman terms. On the website you have contact numbers that can handle your questions.
When my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer, was almost impossible to ascertain what treatment plan was truly one tailored specifically for him. We wanted that because my mom had died from cancer and we learned that without that individual/specific treatment, you become a statistic and your chances of truly having a cure or an effective treatment is close to zero.
With the help/guidance/assistance PCRI gives each individual "FOR FREE" (with no horse in the race so as to have skewed opinion), each patient will definitely receive the correct path to follow.
CANNOT recommend PCRI more wholeheartedly-truly more than worth the call!!!
I called their hotline in 2006 and spoke with Harry (now deceased) who stressed how young men with prostate cancer need to get their surgery done soon with a Dr who has done more than 150 DaVinci robotic prostatectomies.
At age 43, my disease turned out to be Gleason 3+3 stage 2C with lymphatic vessel involvement and a PSA of 3.9. After immediate surgery, the PSA was under 0.01 for 2 years. The cancer is back now with a PSA of 0.013, but I am told my low Gleason 3+3 means my cancer is unlikely to metastasize or kill me.
My surgeon said I would have died at age 45 (I am now 49) if I had not had treatment.
