As a Board Member I am proud that we have the philosophy that quality is much better than quantity. The health of our little ones is the most important thing and with us it is not how many dogs we rescued, it is about the care of the dog and finding that perfect match for the dog. There is no better feeling to know that we did all we can for a little one so they can find their furever home. It could take 2 weeks or 2 years to place a little one, just as long as it is the very best we can give him/her than that is want counts.

This is a great organization that really cares about the dogs and insuring they are a good match with the people who foster and adopt. Honest and practical, dedicated.

CSDR is the best charity that I've ever volunteered with! They are very transparent, thorough and committed to making sure all of the little ones get into the right homes. I highly recommend donating/working with/adopting with CSDR. It'll be an awesome experience!

CSDR is a great nonprofit group. They make sure the foster homes are safe and the dogs get awesome care, whatever that may be. Very organized and friendly.

This rescue group has been so helpful and kind to the little furbabies in need of second chances. They are dedicated to making sure these dogs go to safe and loving homes, which makes me feel very happy and at ease. A wonderful group who truly makes a difference!

What a wonderful organization! Their volunteers have hearts full of love for each little one who comes into their system. These pups get another lease on life by being fostered and adopted by truly loving homes and the humans who become their new 'parents'. Everyone I know who is involved with this organization has lots of room in their heart for these little creatures. And they are diligent in working to ensure each animal finds a safe place for the rest of its life, whether that is 10 more years or just a few months.

I am incredibly proud to be a part of Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue. I was so blown away to learn that it was started by a woman who just knew she needed to do something to help these small dogs. Just a regular woman - not a woman with millions of dollars - and it made me realize that I can make a difference, too. I don't have to wait until I have a ton of money or until I can devote ALL my time to it. I can make a difference NOW. I am so thankful to Sue for what she has done and for what her example has taught me. This organization is filled with kind, warm people who genuinely love these dogs and offer whatever time they may have to helping them. It is a group of people who are working together and making a difference.

I did a lot of research of where to volunteer my time before choosing Chihuahua&Small Breed Rescue. They do a great job caring for the fur babies they rescue and also make sure that fosters and volunteers get training before working with the rescues. They are commited to their mission and the dogs they rescue. I am honored to be a part of this organization.

This is a group of very caring people. The little ones are well taken care of by all of the fosters. You can tell how much the volunteers care when you see them at meet and greets. It is a group that I am very proud to be associated with and plan to dedicate the rest of my life helping their cause.

As a 7 year volunteer with CSDR I have to say it has been a very rewarding time. I am sad that my job is relocating me to another state and I will not be able to be with this group much longer. The group is run by very respectful and accountable individuals. Everyone (board members and volunteers) take their work very seriously and assure placement of the dogs in its furever home-one that is a best match the the humans and dog. I have thoroughly enjoyed my volunteer time, my foster dogs, and my dogs that I adopted....yes I am a "foster failure" to a few of the dogs over the years. :)

I adopted 2 wonderful dogs from Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue, and I volunteered for them as well. This is a top notch agency that ensures that every home is thoroughly checked out and visited prior to placement. They also do excellent follow up to make sure the placement is secure. They really care about the dogs and their families. I highly recommend this agency without reservation.

I've fostered, volunteered, and adopted small dogs from this wonderful rescue. Many people who adopt small dogs are elderly and alone, and it's so heartwarming to hear them say that their new-found friend gives them something to live for.

About 5 years ago I adopted a pup from Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue. I was so very pleased with how much the rescue did for me and this dog. This dog came potty pad trained and was well socialized. The dog was groomed beautifully. The dog was a great joy to me

I recently finished the orientation to volunteer for the CSDR. I chose this organization so I can give my time to successfully help homeless animals find safe and loving homes.

Sue Fisher is a very hands on rescue director. She is available and cares so much about these little animals and finding them good homes. All the other volunteers that I have met are also extremely dedicated and helpful.

It is a great organization. I have chosen to volunteer because of the great job I see this rescue doing. I would like other people and dogs to have a great experience with a most hard working, caring and loving, successful rescue.

I first heard about CSDR about 7 years ago, one of the news stations was doing a story on them after they had rescued over 20 dogs from a puppy mill. I had recently lost my husband and that news story touched my heart. I called and told them I wanted to help. In the past 7 years I have fostered many dogs, some came to me with broken bones but most came with a broken heart. Fostering these dogs has helped heal my heart by allowing me to love and care for the dogs and has helped all these dogs get a second chance. All they want is to love their person and be loved in return.
CSDR is more than just an agency helping the dogs, they also care about their volunteers. They have been supportive and caring to me through some hard times. There have been times when I have not been able to foster any dogs due to life situations, yet CSDR still reaches out with activities that I can help with. When I have been able to foster again, they are ready will little dogs that need help.
It is a huge commitment for the board to run the organization. My heart goes out to all of them for all work they do and lives they save.

I have been a part of this organization for 2 years now and every time I foster a dog in need I remember the feelings I had as a kid with my first dog. How could there be any feeling better than the unconditional love you receive from one of these amazing animals. We have found homes for six dogs and as an organization well over a thousand. Know that even though the need for more fosters and adoptive families grows, so does the compassion this organization has for these animals. Please open your hearts and homes to help us save the lives of these innocent creatures.

I am forever grateful to have been introduced to the Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue, as they showed me how much joy a little one can bring to your life. As a volunteer for CSDR, I believe the entire organization fills a need in our communities along the Front Range. The CSDR is "all volunteer" and in that capacity each member has an important role in the care and adoption of each little one in our care as well as the operation of a non-profit entity. The lives of little ones saved depends on each volunteer who can foster a dog in their home and they are the backbone of CSDR. Fostering assures each adopter that their new family member has been living in a family setting, nurtured and ready for their forever family. Volunteering with CDSR is most fulfilling!

The dedication of all those working on their own time for the Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue is truly an inspiration. Most spend a minimum of ten hours a week; many work 20-30 hours during the week to place these loving animals. Their commitment to placing these rescued dogs into a caring family is commendable; those that adopt a pet know it has been very well cared for since its rescue. The amount of travel up and down the Front Range to show case the rescued dogs is a tribute their ardor, enthusiasm, and love for for these unfortunate little ones. To reduce the trauma of these rescued animals, they desire to rapidly find them the proper home and work throughout the week to do so. This is beyond a doubt a top notch nonprofit.

I have been volunteering for this rescue for over a year now and they are great people to work with. They are very dedicated to helping small dogs and helping them to find their forever homes. The foster families really take special care of their dogs and I think this rescue has made a huge difference here in Colorado.

Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue is very passionate about helping that little dog find love, care, and a forever home. We rescue little dogs 15 pounds and less and since we do not have a shelter facility, all the little ones are fostered in private homes.

This gives them a chance to experience the best in life as they are waiting to find their forever home.

I feel very blessed to be able to work with this organization and have a chance to love and care for the fosters that come through my home.

I got involved with Chihuahua Small Dog Rescue last year when I attended at meet and greet for small dogs. Sue and the staff are so dedicated to finding good, quality homes for these little angels. We always put the needs of the dog first and we are diligent in making sure our dogs find their forever home. As a volunteer, I enjoy meeting people and sharing my love for dogs. Please, please please, if you are considering a dog, consider a rescue. They add SO much to your life and all they want in return is your love. Their's is unconditional!

It is all about the dogs and what is best for them. They don't live in shelters with a lot of other dogs. Their temporary homes are foster homes where they learn what love is and that there is a warm bed waiting for them and plenty of food to eat. They usually have a couple other four legged friends to play with too, whenever they want to. They are given whatever medical treatment they may need whether it is something as simple as vaccinations or something as complex as heart surgery. And when it is time to send the little ones off to their forever homes, we try to do everything possible to make sure it is a good choice and it will truly be forever.

I volunteered for about a year by fostering dogs until they could find a forever home. Going to the meet and greets are a lot of fun. It was nice to meet new people and unite to work for a good cause. The board and all volunteers have such warm hearts and are willing to take the time to explain anything you need to know when fostering. They make sure to do a quick background check on foster parents to make sure that the foster is going to be in a good home and they check the people that want to rescue the dog before he/she is placed in a forever home. They make sure that every little dog is cared for and no matter what the expense will pay for the medical expenses of dogs that have higher medical costs. I also love that this organization is a true no-kill rescue. The amount of time and detail that is put into this organization shows the amount of love and passion they have for this cause.

I was looking to get involved in a rescue group for small dogs and came upon Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue. After checking their website and emailing with their president, I became a foster parent and active volunteer. Their philosophy of all-foster, no-kill, and their attention to the details of making sure their little ones get placed in the best possible forever home fit perfectly with what I believe. They have partnerships with wonderful veterinarians and make sure all their rescues are well-cared-for and receive any necessary medications and healthcare. They hold frequent events to expose the little ones to the public and I attend as many of these events as I can. They are super-well organized and happy, fun, positive experiences for the dogs, the volunteers, and the public. I can't say enough good things about their leadership: Sue, Lance, and Pat. Such wonderful, dedicated, caring folks! I have very high standards when it comes to animal care, having fostered for a humane society and another rescue group in the past. CSDR is tops! CSDR is one of the top rescue groups in the country. It is a no-kill rescue. Dogs are only put down due to severe illness. Unadoptable dogs are placed in permanent foster care. When dogs are rescued, they immediately receive health care and grooming. They stay in a foster home, and the foster parents work with them on any training issues. CSDR has rescued an unbelievable number of dogs and placed them in safe and loving homes. Many were rescued from shelters just before they were to be put down because their allotted time was running out. Others were rescued from puppy mills where they were isolated and kept in cages. The dogs do see to understand that they have been given another chance and express their gratitude in the form of affection for their new owners.

All volunteers and potential adopters are carefully checked. References are checked. A volunteer visits the home, gets acquainted with the family,and checks that the home is safe. CSDR keeps in touch with adopters after the adoption and volunteers are available to answer questions, assist with training, and give advice. A volunteer coordinator keeps in touch with all volunteers so that volunteers always feel part of the organization and supported.

II was very impressed with CSDR. I loved the training, the involvement of Sue Fisher with all the events and the great care and concern that the rescue has for the dogs that they take in. Great group of volunteers - always willing to help each other out. Lots of meet and greets to get the foster dogs out to meet the public. I really enjoy working with this group.

I adopted Lucy several years ago and had such a great experience with CSDR I became a volunteer. I love that we were matched up with the right dog. We then adopted Lola and again brought home another perfect match. CSDR really cares where the dogs are placed and I love that the dogs are in loving fosterhomes. I highly recomend CSDR.

I have been a volunteer for about 3 years and also adopted one dog. Mostly I do home visits for adopters and new volunteers, which I love. I have met some of the nicest people during home visits.

What sets Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue apart is that all dogs go into foster homes. There is no shelter. The foster homes work with the dogs to train and socialize them so that the dogs are ready for their new forever homes. This organization also screens all new volunteers and prospective adoptive homes by sending a volunteer to do a home visit. We walk through the home and yard to ensure there are no hazards that might harm a small dog. And we talk with the family and get a feel for their lifestyles and personalities. Every volunteer also has a home visit each year to ensure that nothing has changed.

The organization provides support and benefits to volunteers with opportunities for limited health care for our own dogs. The annual volunteer dinner allows volunteers to get acquainted and form friendships as well as rewarding them for their hard work. From time to time there are learning opportunities so that we all learn more about caring for small dogs and how to train dogs, especially abused dogs.

From time to time we've been asked to take in a large number of dogs from puppy mills. These poor dogs have been kept in cages with little or no human interaction. They are bred over and over while being fed poor diets. When we get them, the dogs are bathed and checked by a vet before going to foster homes. At these times, several volunteers step up to help process the new dogs. And others volunteer to take on extra foster dogs so that we find spots for all of them.

I adopted a dog from CSDR in 2010 and have since joined the organization as a foster. The group is great, the dogs are well cared for and loved.

I have been volunteering for Chihuahua Small Dog Rescue for almost two years. This organization's heart is for the small dogs that are left alone in shelters, needing medical attention and love from a caring family. I have seen sweet little dogs placed in loving homes repeatedly. The homes are visited and checked for safety before the little dog is actually placed into the adoption. Chihuahua Small Dog Rescue is very cautious that each little dog is matched to the right family; depending on personalities of the littles ones as well as their adoptive family. Every placement is unique. I would recommend this organization to anyone desiring a sweet little companion. All the little rescues are adorable and are ready to give their love and receive love with a new safe home.

I was fortunate enough to volunteer with this organization for a little more than a year. This is truly an amazing group of selfless people. Most volunteers put as much time into this organization as they did with their full time paying jobs. Yes, most of them also held down a full time job! I was touched by the generosity and care which many people cared for some of the animals that came into the Rescue. Many of the little ones came to us as neglected or physically abused dogs, but they all left with a little more trust in humanity. I also adopted a little guy. He was very shy, had trust issues and had quite a temperament. I'm happy to say that he is a valued member of my family and has come full circle. CSDR makes the world a better place.

I do in home visits for the Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue
in Colorado. I personally have adopted two dogs from the rescue. I would recommend them! The dogs I have adopted at two different times had been in a home and given love and medical attention that they needed before coming to me. Abbey & Sugar are wonderful dogs and I believe it is because of the Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue. I was asked to be a part of the rescue and I am pleased to be a part of putting wonderful dogs into a good home. The Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue
is the only place that I would want to adopt from again because of my personal experiences with them.

I volunteer with Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue and the organizers of the group are amazingly dedicated to our little dogs. They give them indivdual medical attention and love and work to find the best families for each dog.

This is one of the best rescues. The love and care they give these dogs is amazing. The people are wonderful, loving and caring people. They train the fosters that they take into their care and love as if they were their own personal dog.

My husband and I have been with the Rescue for not quite a year now. It is wonderful to be a part of this organization. When our first foster dog was adopeted, it was very bitter sweet because we loved him, but we knew that by fostering we had saved his life and the people who adopted him were perfect for him. We are now taking care of our third foster dog and are trying to find a wonderful home for him. We certainly plan to continue to help save dogs with the help of this organization.

I have worked with Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue on and off for sometime. I volunteered for several different positions. Foster Parent, Home Inspector, Participated at several events within the Greater Denver Area.

I have nothing bad to say about this organization! They are 100% genuine and do absolutely everything they can for these little guys and gals. I recommend them to lots of folks looking for a smaller dog because they not only are a foster care organization, but they also make sure each animal is healthy and up-to-date on everything before they are even allowed to be adopted.

This organization is one of my favorites, and I hope they continue to grow and receive more volunteers so that more small dogs have a strong and healthy chance of finding their forever homes.

My family and I were looking for an organization to make a difference in the lives of animals. We happened to go to a local Petco to buy supplies and met a volunteer and the president of the organization. I could tell immediately that this was the place to volunteer.
The Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue works hard to find quality homes for dogs. The process and procedures that are in place makes sure of that. The people that are in this organization have huge hearts that show in how they devote and dedicate themselves.
They care about all the volunteers and make sure that they are meeting their needs and have the tools that they need to take care of all the dogs.

This rescue volunteers at the Petco store that I work at, and they've always been so diligent and organized every time, so I decided to start volunteering with them. They take such great care of their dogs, and everyone is made sure to have a full evaluation before they go to their forever home. This is a great rescue to volunteer, foster, and adopt from, and I highly recommend them to find your next furry friend!

This is a great organization to volunteer with as well as find your new furry best friend! There are many opportunities to help out while meeting like-minded people; and perhaps even find a new member of your own household. What started out as a small grassroots team of individuals stepping up in the wake of growing population of homeless Chihuahuas and other small dogs has blossomed into a humanitarian movement that saves hundreds of lives. It is those “few” who find time within their already busy lives to give back to little ones that someone threw away or simply did not have the means to care for. Each volunteer truly makes this group magical; from the big hearts and caring faces that greet the little ones at the time of their rescue to the loving foster homes where they “recover and thrive” until their forever home is discovered. Everyone has the same goal in mind, locate, rescue, love, recuperate, and prepare the little ones for a long and loving forever home!
