Causes: Human Services, Young Mens or Womens Associations
Mission: The ywca is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Programs: The women's center for economic opportunity offers employment and entrepreneurship education and training in english and spanish. Workforce programs target women with significant barriers to employment including limited english skills, victims of domestic violence, ex-offenders, and single mothers. Small business training targets low-income and immigrant entrepreneurs at the first or second tier of small business ownership. Ancillary programs include training in english as a second language, on-the-job training internships, leadership development, and enrichment activities for children of the women in our programs. During the fiscal year ended june 30,107 the program served 375 women.
the caf at the ywca and yworks catering are programs of the ywca southern arizona community center. This social enterprise offers training for women in the areas of customer service, conference services, on and off site catering, basic culinary skills, sanitation, and access to the leadership, trainings, and workshops available at the ywca to enhance their business savvy, personal leadership and resource navigation and community involvement. Internship opportunities are available as paid and unpaid positions. During the fiscal year ended june 30, 2017, the programs trained and worked with 12 women.
women's business center provides comprehensive business and managmement training to equip individuals to start their own business. During the fiscal year ending june 30, 2017 1,094 women were served totaling 6,327 hours of training.
