When I had my daughter, I needed to find child care information so that could return to work. I researched the internet and had trouble finding a complete list of companies. I was speaking with a friend and she told me how helpful Child & Family Resources had been and that I should reach out to them. When I spoke with the people at Child & Family Resources, they were extremely helpful. They mailed me a complete list of accredited child care and preschool facilities in my area. This information was extremely helpful in finding the best child care for my daughter. Over the past year, I've had the opportunity to get to know the people of Child & Family Resources and I truly appreciate how they serve our community. It's nice to know that there our people in our community trying to help others. Thank you Child & Family Resources! Sincerely,
Heather
I first learned about Child & Family Resources, Inc. when I was looking for child care for my 5 week old daughter. I was so scared to leave my newborn baby in the hands of a stranger! I did not know what questions to ask, or the type of questions I could ask, or where to even begin. A friend of mine reccomended I call Child Care Resource and Referral because she had used this service, and told me they could help me. When I called the phone line, and talked to the specialist, she was so reassuring and so nice. She told me about all of the different types of child care, and I learned so much I didn't even know! The information they provided me, and the resources about child care completely eased my worries and fears about choosing a daycare for my daughter. I was able to go back to work with the peace of mind that she was in good hands. I really do not know what I would have done!
The ladies that work for this group are simply amazing. They're willing to help out with any need, from information to services. The information available to families working with this group is useful, real world information. The only change I would make to this service would be to raise the age limit as both of my children enjoy the visits from our case worker.
program assisted my child and my family with ability to use the techniques and tools needed to move forward. The program is nice and helpful and so are the people running it and if my family or anybody else ever has any problems I know where to go child and family resources!
Child and Family Resources have changed my life. All the support I have received has helped me to become a better parent for my child. I have learned techniques to help with my child's growth and development. I have learned to value myself, helping my self-confidence to improved. Thanks to this Agency I have learned to become more independent individual.
My son has so much fun at Happy Hours that he never wants to leave! The staff at Child & Family Resources are energetic and caring, and I feel lucky to have them be part of my son’s childhood.

My son is a participant of "Happy Hours," an after school program that takes place at his school. The VERY FIRST DAY when I went to pick him up, he wanted to stay longer, because he wanted to keep playing basketball with one of the staff members. The staff always play games with all the kids, and he brings home a fun art project at least once a week. I can't believe what a great job they do of transforming his school space into a fun zone!
I have been a client of CFR for two years now. I enrolled after having my son who is 10 years younger than my next child. I was literally starting from scratch; physically, mentally and emotionally. And I was not prepared in any facet. After the initial visit, I felt relieved to tell someone honestly that I have been suffering from depression and alcoholism for many years. And more importantly, I wanted it to stop but I didn't know how to deal with the many things in life that haunt me and now a newborn. How on earth could I be a good mother when I felt so terrible all the time? This program showed me how. My support specialist showed me how to ask for help. With her support and information seeking, I enrolled in counseling, I have been able to communicate with my husband about goals and discipline, values and structure for our son. That alone was amazing to me because I raised my other children alone. I didn't know how to have a parenting partner at all. Life has changed a lot in the last two years, including me going back to work and adding to the grind but she is still there for me anytime I need her. And every time I have to fill out one of the dreaded depression scale/evaluations, I see my answers improve. I feel better about the answers I can give. I know that if no one was asking, I wouldn't be aware OR asking for the help.I feel like the Healthy Families is a sounding board, a touchstone and a friend. It is a great support and I love every minute I get of Healthy Families... Thank you CFR!!
I really love this program and it has helped me out alot because i get to finish my school while my daughter is being cared for, and not just i learn but my daughter also is learning as well.
My first experience with Child and Family Resources was as a professional. I am a pediatric physical therapist and I worked in early intervention with staff from CFR. I was very impressed with the expertise, care and support that they gave to children and their families. When I retired and was looking for a place where I could make a contribution, a board member asked me if I would be interested in joining the board of CFR.
Since becoming a board member, I have been impressed with the professionalism, expertise and organization of the program management. The great work that is so obvious when working with the staff is a reflection of the great work done by the administrative personnel and in many programs within the CFR umbrella. I have learned about many more programs than just early intervention, include work with teachers to help them deal with special needs children, programs to work with teenage mothers and programs to work within the community.
This is a great organization and I am proud to be a part of it.

Since the very first day I was introduced to the Youth Empowered for Success (YES) Program my life changed. I was able to recognize my innate wisdom and have the opportunity to recognize the powers I possess. Not only have I become a better leader, but have also become a better person. Through YES I have served my school and community. In addition, I have spread my leadership skills amongst the people around me. YES has had a positive impact in my life. -Andrea
This organization empowers the youth with leadership skills that translate into life-long morals. In the YES program, we learn to better ourselves to inspire others. My outlook on relationships, situations, and myself has drastically changed for the better because of this program.
We donate to the agency every year because of their mission and the good work they do for our community. My family lives in Southern Arizona, where there are not many resources for families. Child & Family Resources has provided childcare referrals through CCR&R, summer programs through Camp Happy Hours. We appreciate that you have services in the rural parts of the state that are quality and cutting edge.
Child and Family Resources is a truly wonderful organization. The staff is great to work with and they do great work for the community. It is clear that they care about the work they are doing and the people they work with. They do so many great things for communities throughout Arizona.
Child and Family Resources is a truly special nonprofit. Under the strong and steady leadership of its CEO Eric Schindler and his leadership team, CFR continues to provide extraordinary service to all its clients and partners on a daily basis, across all service areas and across the state; maintains a workplace that truly honors its employees' skills, talents, interests and needs, and is therefore a great place to work; focuses resources effectively to meet and exceed expectations; engages in a continual process of self-evaluation and improvement... I could go on and on. On a personal note, I have now served on the Board for two years, and it is a true joy. I have served on several boards over the years, but never before have I felt such a sense of ownership and pride in the organization I've served. I am thrilled to share my knowledge of CFR with the community, I'm always impressed with what I learn from staff, and I am honored to be on a board with such amazing colleagues from various disciplines and life experiences. CFR truly is a special place.
My little girl has been going both to the after school program better known as Happy Hours for the last three years. Additionally she attends the summer camp as well. Both of us are happy with the program and will continue to stay as long as we possibly can. The summer program is THE very best. Lots of happy days. :)
The teachers are great, the experiences given to the children are wonderful and enriching.

I am not sure if I am suppose to mention names on here so I will refer to her as J and her supervisor along with the rest of the Kingman office have been tremendously helpful to me and my family. They are all very cheerful and set a good mood with the positive energy they radiate when dealing with our family. The parent nights are very well thought out and bring unity and harmony among the families. I have made some friendships with other moms in the program. I have gone through some difficult post partum issues and both J and the supervisor were there for me. I would and have recommended the program to many people and do nothing but talkhighly to those who do not want to join. I love the program and all the benefits it has to offer and would not want to see the program disappear. Without Healthy Families I think my parenting my be different. I am so thankful for the useful information and the activities we are able to do with my son. Thank you so much for bringing the program to our area.
I joined the healthy family program when I was 15 years old. i did not know any thing abot having my baby. my lady came out each time i had a problem or a fight with my boyfriedn and i was upset. she helped me understand that my baby feels the feeligns I am feeling and is there for me. i love the crafts and learning about my baby in the papers that i am brought out. i even made a book for them to stay in so i can look back. my lady in kingman got me into a ged program and i was able to finishe school by going to pals. i love the program and i lvoe that if my lady is not there to help me someone always is and they do not make me feel like i will fail couse I am so young. i know what i want to do with my life and i have the courage to go do it because of my worker and healthy family. i am 16 and from kingman, arizona.

I can not say enough about the services our family has received through this program. Each week we have worked on building our family stronger. Not an easy task when you are speaking about a family with nine special needs children. We have recently gone through a loss of a child in our home. With the support from Child &Family Resources, we are learning how to become an even stronger family then before.
Thanks Child & Family Resources! Can't imagine doing this without your help!! Sharon
I have worked for Child & Family Resources for nearly 3 years and I continue to be impressed with the agency's commitment to excellence in the services it provides. From the front line staff to the administrative staff, each person is committed to families and children and the highest quality of services CFR provides to assist them in creating better lives.

I contacted Child and Family Resources when I was embarking upon opening a Pre-school in my home. It was important for me to find up to date information and state requirements for embarking upon such a venture. Child and Family Resources made everything very simple and easy to follow. They walked me step by step through the process with care and understanding. I am now the proud owner of an awesome pre-school thanks to the help I was given. They also let me know of grants available to me, with their help I was able to buy new equipment and supplies. The children are so excited! Child and Family Resources really made a difference in the lives of many children. Thank you and keep up the good work.

I was a DES certified child care, and heard about project MORE. I contacted them because I read about this program that helps people like myself to become a DHS certified. They were very helpful, every step of the way. They were there financially and in person and when I had my inspection everything checked out and I got my license!!! I'm very happy to have this kind of program that really helps you, and cares about you.

Hello I am a Family Home Daycare Provider in the Sahuarita Az. area. I was introduced to this wonderful program when I applied to become DES certified, they quickly contact me and made an appointment to try to meet the needs of the children that I provide care for. The staff were so friendly and always willing to help if you had any concerns or questions, informing you on what there program is all about and it felt great to see the new changes in my room and to see the children enjoy the new items provided. I would recommend this program to any provider that needs some help to get them started. Great program and very satisfied.

I offer my highest recommendation for Child and Family Resources and two of their programs that I have used for the past two years.
I first heard about the Camp HH and Happy Hours after school program through my son’s elementary school. I am a single mom with a full-time job and my son has unique medical issues so I was very concerned about the care and supervision that he would receive after school or after school was out during summer weekdays while I was still at work.
My son is 10 years old and has been participating in Happy Hours and Camp HH for the past two years. The counselors at both Happy Hours and Camp HH offered a warm welcome and were prepared to supervise his medical needs while at the same time they treated him just like all the other children. Because of his diabetes the counselors became educated about his needs, stayed in regular contact with me about his blood sugar levels, how he was feeling, what he was eating or drinking, etc. They included him in everything and always had projects, games, field trips and other activities for the children to get involved in.
I have noticed improved confidence and independence in my son. He has made many good friends and looks forward to going to both Happy Hours during school and Camp HH in the summer. The greatest part for me is my sense of confidence in the staff when I drop him off, knowing that he is in good hands. The “icing on the cake” of course is that he has a great time and enjoys being there.

The staff of Discovery Learning Center on Broadway is working very hard to obtain a 5-star rating through the "First Things First" Program; the program decided on by the voters in the last election.
Our coach, Andrea Dekker; has worked very hared to obtain more equipment, books, school supplies, and scholarship money than anyone before. She has worked with Ms. Beth, our assistants and teachers to more to better our learning center than with any other program we have been involved with in 40 years. We are over half-way through the process, hoping to receive a 5-star rating.

15 years ago I was new to Tucson and wasn't sure how to go about caring for children in my home here in Tucson, like I did in Michigan. I didn't know if I needed to be licensed, certified, or what. Someone told me about Child Care Resource & Referral (at Child & Family Resources) and I called them. They gave me all the information I needed to begin caring for children. Soon after I became a registered provider, they gave my info out to enough people that I was able to have my business up and running in no time at all! 6 years later I was working in a child care center and used Child Care Resource & Referral's Early Childhood Bulletin to find all the trainings I needed to fulfill the yearly requirements and help make me a better teacher! Every Child & Family Resources employee I came into contact with was respectful and interested in what I needed. I recommend them all the time!
Upon the birth of my 3rd child I was approached by a Healthy Families recruitment worker in my room at the hospital. I was very happy to have the opportunity to participate and receive services offered by Child & Family Resources. I have had a history of depression, alcoholism and I knew this time, with this new little life and this new support, I would not only overcome my reoccuring obstables but also be successful in the new roles in my life.
My name is Layla F. I would like to thank God, my mother and all the agencies involved for helping me get back on my feet and on the right track. To getting my life back together. Three and a half years ago I lost my kids and myself to methamphetamine addiction. I had been battling off and on since I was sixteen. Every couple of years I would relapse. I had two children and was pregnant again during the worst of my addiction. I became the person I always looked down on. Doing drugs while pregnant, neglecting my kids of attention and sanity. I didn't care about anything except using. But somewhere inside, the real me was telling me that I knew it was wrong. And I prayed every night for God to help me quit. However I wasn't strong enough to stop on my own.
God works in mysterious ways. I knew I was pregnant but I was scared to see the doctor. I kept trying to get clean on my own. Finally at seven and a half months I went to my first appointment. Three weeks later, a couple of days before my sonogram was scheduled, I went into labor. I didn't even know I was having twins. I gave birth to Felix and then the doctor said there was another baby. I couldn't believe it. One hour later Freddy was delivered via c-section. The next day CPS paid me a visit at the hospital. All of my kids were removed from my custody. I was angry and hurt. I couldn't comprehend until later the danger I was putting them in.
I did whatever I was told to get them back. I enrolled in SEABHS drug counseling and parenting classes and therapy. I went to NA once a week. I was gave urine samples for analysis at least three times a week, I was always clean. Child & Family Resources did weekly visits and were very emotionally supportive. The Blake Foundation sent therapists and nurses. Now all my kids are in their Headstart Daycare Center, La Palamito, the best in town. They were all aware of what I had done and they still treated me like a real person with feelings. Their true care and concern over my well being as well as their support helped me become a more responsible person and a better mother then I had ever been. They made me feel like I could transition back into the real world and be a respectful person. They taught me the importance and how to establish a routine and structured lifestyle. I learned a lot.
By becoming an independent woman, working and supporting my family and taking care of my kids I realized I could rely on myself. Other lessons were harder learned later when I left the abusive relationship I had sustained from my kids father for the past nine years. This self reliance made me see my life for what it was so I could change it and to be a better parent. Things used to seem hopeless, but me changing made a difference made a difference.
I've seen so many families destroyed and children devastated because of the drugs and the neglect it entails. I didn't want to be another statistic in this frighteningly large epidemic. I have to take care of my family and myself, that is my job. I am saddened to see much of this help depleted by budget cuts. For much more is needed than hope. God bless all the families still struggling.

I went to Child & FAmily Resources after being released from prison and looking for work with the ultimate goal of reconnecting with my two children. I was particularly discouraged because I did not think I would be able to find a job, due to the type of felony conviction I had. They enrolled him in the Arizona Center for Resonsible Fatherhood program where I began the life skills/parenting classes. They also helped me get an email address, bus card, new clothes and shoes for interviewing. They helped me with good job referrals. I am now doing on the job training to work at a community service agency as a permanent clerical worker.
After I had my twins in 2004, I was so nervous about having to put them in child care so I could go back to work. I had no idea what I was looking for, what kinds of questions to ask or what kind of child care was even available. One of my good friends told me about Child Care Resource & Referral, a program of Child & Family Resources. She encouraged me to call this program because they could help me find care for my girls. I did not know what to expect when I called. I was so surprised at the professionalism and helpfulness of the lady on the other end of the phone. She helped me find a family child care provider close to my home. She gave me a list of questions to ask and things to look for. The provider I choose from the list given to me is AMAZING! She eased all of my fears and concerns about leaving my twins in her care. "Mama Yvette" as my girls call her has become a part of my family. She has exceeded all of my expectations, and when my girls fall down or get sad at home they ask for "Mama Yvette!". I couldn't be happier with my child care provider, and with the services Child Care Resource & Referral helped me with. I highly recommend their services to any parent who has fears about finding quality, affordable, and caring child care for their children.
