Mission: The mission of the y. W. C. A santa monica/westside is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Programs: Young women: cultivating self-sufficient and capable young women: our transitional housing and education program offers residence to emancipated foster young women for up to 2 1/2 years during which time they are given meals and support services, and guided toward academic programs, a vocational training, health care and other community services. In turn, they pursue their educational training full-time, work part-time, participate in case management, maintain a savings account and attend weekly life skills classes facilitated by commmunity partners and volunteers. Relationships are maintained with program graduates by providing a connection to caring adults, assisting with adjustments to independent living and offering opportunites to serve as a role model to existing residents.
