Causes: Human Services, Young Mens or Womens Associations
Mission: Ywca is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Programs: Violence prevention programs promote confidence and self-esteem as well as provide women, girls and the community with the tools they need to succeed. The bullying peace programs were delivered to youth throughout aurora schools to teach students how to identify, stop and report bullying behavior. Parent workshops were held in aurora schools to raise awareness and educate parents on the negative impact of bullying. Community dialogues on the status of race relations in aurora were held with various community groups. Several peace vigils were held with various members of the aurora and surrounding community. Women's empowerment scholarships were issued to provide assistance with education expenses for college women.
stem (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) program provides at-risk children in aurora community schools with opportunities for intensive exploration of stem related topics. We are advancing education for at-risk youth who would otherwise not have access to stem education and activities.
the after school program provides a healthy and safe environment for students during after school hours, on site at the student's school. The program includes homework assistance, bullying peace program and other initiatives for students.
