Mission: To transform the lives and education of our youth through the arts by connecting educators, professional artists and communities.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Last year, YA served 191,253 students, from pre-K to grade 12, with our programs, ranging from interactive live performances to long-term, classroom-based residencies. YA’s roster of more than 100 professional teaching artists traveled to all 24 Maryland school districts to deliver these programs to 494 schools and community sites, providing students with a total of 225,340 learning hours.
Programs: Artist in residencies - yamd provided nearly 200 in-depth artist-in-residence programs, totaling nearly 7,500 workshops and performances, that afforded student participants quality time with a teaching artist to experience a more substantial and sequential learning experience in and through the arts. Yamd expanded its reach into preschool classrooms in partnership with the wolf trap institute for early learning in the arts, restoring the wolf trap 16 session artist in residence program in 50 baltimore city school classrooms.
assembly programs - yamd provided over 700 live performances by professional artists for k-12 audiences to introduce students to a variety of artistic disciplines and cultures.
