Mission: Working together to improve the lives of children, youth and families in our communities. The children's alliance is an inter-agency collaborative, which coordinates needed family support services, convenes child and family advocates to solve community problems, and gathers and disseminates local information about the needs and well-being of yolo county families.
Programs: Family strengthening network - a research-based strategy to increase family strengths, enhance child development, and reduce child abuse and neglect. It focuses on building five protective factors to promote better outcomes for families. In 2016, over 20 yolo county agencies and organizations joined together to form the yolo family strengthening network (yfsn), which aims to bring about fundamental change in how we serve families in yolo county. The yfsn was created to initiate a process of integrating the protective factors framework into yolo county service systems countywide.
child abuse prevention - the alliance is working to provide family support and case management services that engage "at risk" families in preventive family support services at the first signs of concern about children's well-being. In 2016, 35 referrals resulted in 34 new families enrolled in this progam for a total of 66 families served by this program. In 2016, 5,022 bags of food were served to 802 families. The alliance also provides foster parent recruitment, retention and education services in yolo county. In 2016 54 foster parents became licensed for a total of 60 licensed foster families serving 107 children.
community health initiative - the goal of this program is to enroll and retain residents of, yolo county in health insurance and build a sustainable outreach, enrollment, retention and education program. In 2016 there were 115 children enrolled and retained.
