Causes: Education
Mission: The mission of the organization is to enhance educational programs offered within the yakima school district no. 7 by raising money to fund immediate needs and by establihing and maintaining perpetual funding sources, as well as increasing community involvement in the yakima public schools.
Programs: Provided funding for over 35 school programs and/or activities that enhanced classroom education or provided experiential learning opportunities in the yakima public schools during the 9/1/2016 - 8/31/2017 fiscal year. All funding was provided to yakima public schools.
the humphery's memorial scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior based on community volunteer activities. Eligible applicants are enrolled during their senior year as a yakima public schools high school student (currently d. D. Eisenhower high shool, a. C. Davis high school, yakima vally technical skills center (ysd students only), stanton academy and the alternative programs). 3 scholarships were awarded each in the amount of $2,500.
the suzanne g. Young scholarship was awarded to one student at davis high school in the amount of $2,000. Students qualify maintaing a gpa 3. 0-4. 0 with an essay describing reasons for applying to the scholarship.
the william o. Douglas scholarship is awarded to two students at davis high school. Scholarship amounts are $1,000 and $500. Students qualify and are awarded scholarships through participation in the william o. Douglas writing project at a. C. Davis high school during their junior year.
