Mission: Whyy is the philadelphia region's leading public media provider, serving southeast pennsylvania, southern new jersey and all of delaware. Whyy produces and distributes news and information, arts and culture and education programs on television, radio, the web and mobile devices. Whyy reaches and engages about 690,000 television viewers and 350,000 radio listeners a week and 120,000 unique monthly website visitors to whyy. Org and 458,000 to newsworks. Org. In addition, whyy reaches a national audience in excess of 5 million listeners a week primarily through distribution of "fresh air".
Programs: Television programming: whyy provides news and information, arts and culture and childrens programming on three 24/7 broadcast channels as well as online, via cable on-demand services and on mobile devices. Whyy-tv offers a varied blend of the best national programming along with whyys local content. Local whyy video productions include on tour, a weekly series of interviews and performances featuring a wide array of musical talent; on stage at curtis institute of music, presenting student recitals taped at the world-renowned curtis institute of music; friday arts, featuring unique stories about arts and culture; first, a weekly news and public affairs program with a focus on issues in delaware; and flicks which provides up-to-the-minute coverage of top films, stars and moviemakers. Whyy partners with arts advance on the production and national distribution of articulate, a weekly arts program.
