Causes: Arts & Culture, Performing Arts
Mission: The organizations's primary exempt purposes are to provide and maintain a community arts facility; to promote, develop and present diverse programs of entertainment; to promote education in the arts and cultural enrichment to the whidbey island community and its visitors.
Programs: Shows (music, dance, presentations) totaled 19 for fiscal period including the anchor presentation of d'jangofest northwest which encompasses multiple performances and workshops over 5 days. Performances focus on bringing a diversity of entertainment to all ages of the community and to promote emerging artists. Performances involve over 3900 hours of volunteer support annually. Total attendance for all shows was over 6880 including 1937 for just the d'jangofest series.
community theatre - 5 plays are presented last fiscal year. Volunteers staff the cast and support personnel for each production totaling over 7000 hours. About 20% of revenue equaled payments for professional directors, artists or musicians. Total overall attendance for past fiscal period was about 4330.
workshops and education: 1. Summer camp - 13 children attended one or more summber workshops on musical theatre directing and play & scene study. 2. Wica co-supported a program with the school foundation related to climate change. Students received coaching in writing a play and the processes of producing the play for this topic. The play wwas presented one night at wica. 3. Various workshops - 5 workshops were offered to the general public in fiscal period for a minimum fee per person.
