Mission: Wpca supports visual arts and learning in a multicultural environment. In additional to fostering creativity through innovative arts education, wpca encourages audience development and artistic talent with a diverse blend of arts and educational programming. Education: serve over 7,000 youth with art education annual. Gallery: curate 8-12 exhibitions showcasing local, national and international art. Community: provide meeting and event facilities, at no cost, to numerous organizations.
Programs: Hands on art educational programs provide arts enrichment and education for over 7,000 youth on site at wpca and in 35 schools, community centers and parks through four program components. After school drop in, summer art camp, afternoons with art and site on/hands on art residencies.
gallery/exhibition programs present up to 9 exhibits annually encompassing local, national, international emerging and established artists in a wide range of mediums. Exhibits function as avenues for expanding discourse, often involving issues related to cultural traditions, societal concerns, aesthetics as well as the urban condition.
performance programs nurture emerging playwrights, new theatre ventures, spoken word artists and avant-garde and experimental films as well and traditional dance and music representing various cultures.
