Causes: Eye Diseases, Blindness & Vision Impairments, Health
Mission: To raise awareness about the importance of healthy vision, including the socio-economic impact of uncorrected refractive errors and quality of life benefits of visual correction.
Programs: The william c. Ezell fellowships have been offered by the american optometric foundation (aof) to encourage talented persons to pursue full time careers in optometric research and education in a school or college of optometry. Vision-related research that leads to a master's or phd degree. The ezell fellowships have become the flagship program of the aof. The aof has awarded more than 300 fellowships to students pursuing graduate studies. Among the list of former ezell fellows are over 20 deans and presidents of optometric schools and colleges, over 130 faculty members and over 160 fellows of american academy of optometry, including three of its presidents.
vision impact institute's objective is to implement a sustainable process of communication on an ongoing basis on the importance of good vision; reinforce a process of systematic literature review (slr); encourage research where needed in areas where gaps in data exist; and actively engage a larger audience of policymakers, eyecare professionals, and others globally in order to inspire and advocate for overall vision health.
