Mission: We were formed in 1996 to monitor legislative activity and provide a statewide support network for FOI supporters, including professional associations, private business, citizen activists, librarians, media and other access advocates; to educate the private citizen and government employee about the importance of open government; to encourage FOI training; to build public awareness of the need for an ombudsman-type FOI office in state government.
Programs: Newsletter, online and printed Citizens' FOIA Guide, Web site , online discussion group, e-mail alert service, non-legal advice for those who face access problems, comprehensive online database of state FOI opinions from courts, the attorney general and the Office of the FOI Advisory Council; speeches, panel discussions, annual conference, articles, advocacy for stronger open government laws.
