This is one of my favorite places to be. There animals here seem so perfectly happy and it is hard to imagine a more peaceful place to get to just visit and see the animals that were mostly from places where they would have not had happy endings get to live happily ever after.

I wanted to leave a better testimonial but I need to be anonymous. I am worried that if my ex finds out I will be labeled as incompetent to take care of my children. My electricity was shut off and we had absolutely no food. My baby did not have diapers, formula, or baby wipes. I was desperate. If the salute heroes didn’t help me I don’t know what I would have done. Everything has become too expensive and I am always behind. They helped me get caught up and also put me in touch with my local veteran service officer who is also helping me with more issues I have.

It's still inspiring me to continue to attempt to improve mine, my child and everyone's life in the ways I can right now.

KIDS EXCEL WITH PETS, INC. is a small, but exciting group of like minded individuals with one goal to raise funds to spay & neuter our dogs & cats. Females not spayed are at a higher risk for mammary tumors & neutering can prevent testicular cancer. Also it reduces the homeless population while increasing public awareness of the benefits a child can experience through interaction with a pet of their own. Our community outreach fundraiser programs are very rewarding and involves interaction with our local residents. Decorating our Christmas Tree at the local mall, building homemade snowmen, filling trucks with Christmas joy for children of Hurricane Helene, Lilly’s Christmas Wish toy, food, etc drive for homeless pets at the local Humane Society, Lori’s Feline Fund to spay & neuter, strays, feral & pets. Always a challenge to assist with Kids and their Pets flourishing together, living the good life.

I've had the pleasure to interact with this nonprofit on multiple occasions in person, as well as follow them on social media even longer. Seeing the work they do really gives me the confidence to keep donating!

I have been affiliated with Latisha's House Foundation for over 10 years. There commitment to helping survivors of sex trafficking with limited staff and resources is nothing short of amazing. Keep up the good work!

The team at Grove Christian Outreach Center serves families with passion and a clear drive for the mission of the organization. They have been adding value to the Greater Williamsburg community for more than twenty years and do so with great displays of love and grace. They clearly prioritize dignity for the families accessing services.

We will be closed on Aug 4, 2020 due to storm Isaias. We will reopen that Friday Aug 7 at 1 pm. Please all stay safe.

These people are really determined to help the homeless despite being in an environment that wants to ignore the problems.

The Arc of Greater Williamsburg is a terrific organization. They provide activities to developmentally disabled teens and adults. Programs include art, music, dances, aerobics, yoga, walking, movies, self-advocacy classes, bowling, soccer and more. My son loves the exercise classes, especially yoga, and the quarterly dances. The people who staff the office and the volunteers are wonderful, warm-hearted folks. We love them all. The group works on a shoestring budget, but manages to offer many programs each month. In an area with almost no other options for special needs citizens, we are lucky to have the Arc. I am proud to work on their Board and help in any way I can. www.thearcgw.org/

So many arts organizations focus on serving large numbers with low quality in programing. They touch the surface of arts "diciplines" and provide no foundation for career building in the arts. They leave training to college for which most students is too late. However, This organization focuses on creating real world experiences for children and youth who are beening trained in performing arts. The children and youth are clearly given roles that they have been prepared to undertake and placed them with professional directors and choreographers under professional expectations. This vocational experience alone is worth the investment into this organization. Their alumni speaks volumes of the successs both from their affilate school, the Eastern Virginia School for the Performing Arts and CAPA Fund's Americian Youth Ballet Company and the American Youth Players.

As a volunteer for Blooms That Brighten, Inc. for almost two years, I am delighted to say that this project has truly inspired me as the volunteer, probably as much as it gives joy to the recipients of the weekly floral arrangements. We gather fresh flowers every Wednesday from local stores, meet at Schmidt's Flowers, and create an average of 100 vases that we then deliver to local continuing care facilities and to hospice. I have experienced the smiles and joy this brings to so many who may never receive such outpouring of love. Many of us have special memories of flower or gardening moments in our lives, so this speaks to the very core of our spirit. We volunteers love that we can share our passion for flowers in such a unique way, touching the lives of those who also appreciate the beauty of nature but can no longer actively participate in gardening. <br> <br>The organization is well run with a Board of Directors overseeing all and with volunteer team leaders organized for scheduling, pick-up, sorting, arranging, delivery, cleaning up, fundraising, recording hours and administrative. Over the years I have been involved with many non-profits and from a volunteer's perspective, Blooms That Brighten is one of the most visionary, dedicated and well functioning organizations I have been associated with. <br> <br>For each vase that I arrange, I say "Go in joy, peace and love" and I know that I have touched someone's life every week. <br> <br>Gayle Henion, Volunteer <br>Blooms That Brighten, Inc.

I've had great experiences with this organization. They have a very innovative approach to conservation, which melds finance and market-based approaches with a deep understanding of ecology and ecosystem dynamics. Definitely worth consulting with any conservation issues.

I want to support this museum at my alma mater, but I and my friends continue to be disappointed in the lighting of the exhibits. Main gallery exhibits of paintings are poorly lighted on a routine basis, but the over-hyped exhibit of drawings by Michelangelo was ludicrous. The lending institutions insisted that only 5 footcandles of light be used for these small and fragile drawings, making them impossible to enjoy. We couldn't see them in the cave-like environment. It was a mistake on the director's part to borrow these drawings, given their fragile nature. Decisions like this erode the goodwill of supporters.

Five years ago, I sadly lost my mother to breast cancer. During her final days, she was a resident at the Williamsburg Hospice House, and I am not sure there are the words to express how grateful I am that this organization exsists within the Williamsburg-area. The warmth and devotion of their staff, who went to great pains to ensure that, not only was my mother comfortable, but that myself, father and brother were, too, was extraordinary. Additionally, the patience that they exhibited as various friends of my parents, travelled, from all over the country, to say their last good-byes to my mother was both kind and extremely generous. Lastly, the Williamsburg Hospice House provides free grief-counseling, for up to one year, for the family members of people who passed away, while in residence there. This was both a valuable and much-needed resource for me, as I went through a very difficult time, and I am grateful for not only the kindness, but the expertise of their grief counselors. While no one ever wants a loved one to be in hospice care, I cannot say enough good things about the Williamsburg Hospice House, and their knowledgeble, kind-hearted, and dedicated staff.
