Mission: To promote binational understanding and collaboration through educational programs that look to educate and empower mexican youth in the areas of stem, english language learning and civic engagement.
Programs: Mujeres en stem, futuras lideres (woman in stem, future leaders): it's the first and only stem mentoring program for female high school students in mexico. It's a program designed, launched and operated by the usmf. The goal of the program is to empower young female students from underserved communities to study a career in stem related fields. The program includes one-on-one mentoring, group training, field trips and an summer abroad camp. The usmf launched the program in 2015 and it's currently in its 3rd year of operation. During the 2nd cycle (2016-2017 ) of the 10 month-long program, the usmf was able to impact 987 people, which included participation of female high school students from the states of puebla, nuevo leon and sonora.
dreamers without borders: the usmf launched the program in 2015 with the purpose of providing daca dreamers residing in the us with the opportunity to visit and learn about the current socio, economic and political situation in their country of origin. The 2016 delegation of dreamers without borders directly impacted 340 people.
education transformation fund: through this fund, the usmf provides grants to local ngos in mexico who do work in areas aligned with the usmf's mission. We support educational programs in the areas of stem, english language learning and civic engagement. As part of the usmf's grant-giving activities, we co-designed along with ,ense a por mexico (teach for mexico), and sponsor the "classrooms without a border program". We also support initiatives like "clubes de ciencia" to take stem professionals from mit, harvard and other top us universities to mexico to teach stem to college students. Other initiatives include the sponsorship of documentaries and movies that showcase the struggles and contributions of immigrants in the us.
1,000 dreamers, 1,000 leaders: the usmf launched the program with the goal of providing dreamers in the us and dreamers returned to mexico with the opportunity to access a personal mentor to guide them through their college education and start of professional career. In addition to one-one-one mentoring, the program also offers dreamers with access to unique professional development and career networking events as well as remote training by providing program participants with access to an online platform specially built for the program.
