Mission: Us helping us, people into living, inc. Uhu, founded in 1995, was organized as a community-based aids education and services organization dedicated to teaching a holistic natural approach to the treatment of hiv infection and aids.
Programs: Mental health, counseling and support services for hiv persons - individualized counselng, psycho-therapy, case management, treatment adherence mentoring, and weekly peer led support groups.
hiv prevention education - programs delivered via community forums and workshpos street outreach condom and printed educational literature distribution weekly support groups and week-end retreats. Additionally, the popular opinion leader pol teaches those who know the community best to speak with their friends about hiv prevention and what it means to be safe and healthy.
hiv testing, counseling and referral services - oral swab tests no blood or needles with results in 20 minutes. Testing is always confidentiall. Referrals for medical services and follow-up are provided as needed.
