Mission: Artspace at untitled is an environment designed to stimulate creative thought and new ideas through contemporary art. We are committed to providing access to quality exhibitions, education programs, performances, publications, and to engage the community in collaborative outreach efforts.
Programs: The press: the press at untitled is oklahoma city's premier print studio offering a series of demonstrations, classes and workshops in an array of printmaking and artistic disciplines. Local and visiting artists teach workshops like monoprints, lithography, etching, relief, paper engineering, serigraphy and the book arts among many other things. We provide the local community opportunities to explore artistic expression in a creative and collaborative workspace. The press offers an open studio membership for local artists. Memberships provide access to a fully-equipped printmaking studio and a multidisciplinary work space for member artists. Artspace added state-of-the-art equipment to the press in 2017, such as a heidelberg automatic windmill press. This equipment takes our capabilities to a new level, increasing the breadth of workshop topics and mediums offered. The press also works with oklahoma city high schools each year to introduce students to printmaking, and other artistic practices. In 2017, the mentorship program for high schools expanded from 4 to 10 schools, totaling 120 students in the program. Since 2011, the mentorship program has prepared oklahoma students for a future of possibilities through an interdisciplinary curriculum and access to professional studio resources. We provide students an experience beyond traditional academia, connecting young minds to the oklahoma city art community and beyond. Once a month from 8:30 a. M. To 3:30 p. M. , each school group of 12 students spends time learning, developing, and creating with our education director and various mentors. Each month encompasses a different theme and series of projects, ranging from traditional printmaking to digital art mediums like gifs and stop-motion animation. The program culminates with the mentorship exhibition each year during youth arts month, and a large-scale (2'x4') woodblock for the annual steamroller festival.
programs: 2017 was a year of immense change and growth for artspace at untitled. Along with adding three new staff members to the team, artspace expanded its offerings through new programs, studio capacities, and education. 2017 also marked artspace's 20th anniversary of its first exhibition, signaling a determination to establish our art center as a local and national destination for contemporary ideas and innovation for the next 20 years and beyond. New 2017 programs: community spirit: caf society connects the public with the art world by engaging people in topics like art, music, architecture, fashion, design, and visual & performing arts. These gatherings are a fun and creative way to build bridges & ties within the local community. Community spirit is a faction of caf society that specifically targets deep deuce and connecting districts to provide an after-work locale for people to meet their neighbors, discuss events, ideas, and enjoy happy hour in an artistic environment. Artspace showcases local oklahoma brewers & business owners by having each community spirit sponsored by a different winery, brewery and restaurant each month. Community spirit meets the second thursday of every month at artspace from 5-7pm, and like all caf society gatherings, is always free & open to the public. The first event was on september 14, and has grown from 6 attendees to over 25 since it started. Deep deuce sessions: deep deuce sessions is the oklahoma city's monthly live art walk in downtown okc. Every month, on the final saturday night, oksessions and the deep deuce neighborhood present a diverse lineup of oklahoma city's best live musicians in the historic deep deuce district of downtown okc. Deep deuce sessions is our platform to spotlight the talented local musicians of okc and to get oklahomans involved in the state's growing music culture. The monthly music art walk celebrates diversity and cooperation by bringing the best of various genres and staging them in the beautiful venues in this historic neighborhood. In 2017, these community- minded businesses include aloft hotel, artspace at untitled, leaf+bean, anchor down, and urban johnnie. Working together our supporters and fans have helped to pair live jazz, hip-hop, r&b, pop, blues, soul, and singer- songwriters with visionary venues.
