Mission: The purpose is to provide educational, employment and financial assistance to low income residents of union, anson and richmond county, n. C.
Programs: Head start/early head start: head start purposes are health, education & socialization skills to prepare children 3-4 years old to enter regular public schools. Early head start purposes are health and development of infants and pre- school children through 2 years old. 724 benefited. 180 of the 724 benefited in head start/early head start were dually enrolled in the n. C. Pre-kindergarten program.
the n. C. Pre-kindergarten program is state-funded. This program, through a specific pre-school curriculum, helps prepare four year-olds for school.
the community services block grant programs provide low-income families with the opportunity to become self-sufficient. Case management helps connect clients with resources for employment, housing, food and education. Financial assistance for rental payments, rental deposits, utitlity payments, utitlty deposits and minimal educational assistance is available for eligible case management participants. 142 benefited.
workforce investment act-provides services for youth in areas of work experience, skills training, educational and assessment services. 87 benefited. Local funds child resources and child care.
