Mission: The mission of under one sky village foundation is to provide youth in foster care
Programs: Our organization serves youth in foster care within north carolina. Our three largest programs include the journey experience (ages 11-17), the jr. Journey experience (ages 7-11) and tlc (total life conferences) for ages 16-18. Programs and services prepare youth in foster care for successful transition to adulthood and for the next step of their journey, which may include adoption or guardianship, moving to a new foster care placement, reunification with birth family or aging out of foster care. In 2017, we were able to raise the level of care for youth through trauma-focused training for all staff and provide 400 hours of additional support services to our youth, thus moving them closer to developing healthy and permanent relationships, instilling a desire to succeed and break the cycle of abuse, showing compassion
towards self and others and learn the value of giving back. Services dramatically impacted the well-being of the children and many limiting self-beliefs and attitudes shifted. Additionally, staff reported that their confidence and skill level, particularly with teens, was greatly enhanced. Three lead staff participated in project broadcast trauma training, received 20 hours of intensive trauma-focused training and then trained 16 staff and three board members who completed 18 hours of trauma-foc
in 2017, we served 60 youth in foster care in our camp based programs and the second wind leadership/mentoring program. Of the 60 served, 30 received additional support services outside of camp, which included visiting youth in their home, participation in child and family team meetings, attending day long excursions, overnight retreats and rites of passage activities. By providing these opportunities, youth were able to develop consistent peer and adult relationships and make positive shifts in
