Mission: Two tunics is a us based christian non-profit organization (a tax exempt 501(c)3 corporation) which is also a registered public benefit organization in south africa (pbo no. Xxx-xx-xxxx). Two tunics is funded almost exclusively through donations from individuals, churches, and other ngos or foundations. The mission of the organization is to mobilize and equip partners in africa to make the purpose and love of god manifest in aids-affected communities.
Programs: Through our south africa office and staff in port shepstone, two tunics works in partnerships with local organizations to expand the care and support of those affected by hiv/aids. We do this in communities of the ugu district of kwazulu-natal through the following programs. Partner support program - two tunics has established partnerships with several community based organizations (cbos) to equip and enable them to provide care and support to children and others affected by hiv/aids in their communities. The work of our partners primarily involves the operation of creches (preschool day care), feeding projects and home based care by our partners. Two tunics encourages our partners to develop sustainable programs by providing infrastructure, training, supplies and helping establish income generating programs. Two tunics provides fundraising on behalf of specific needs identified by our cbo partners.
communities for kids program - this program attempts to address the needs of orphans and vulnerable children (ovc) in impoverished aids affected communities. The goal is to build the capacity of local communities to care for their own children and this is done primarily through working with our cbo partners in our partner support program (see above). Major accomplishments of this program in 2017 have been the provision of monthly nutritional support to over 1000 children, the training of over 20 teachers in early childhood education and the donation of numerous supplies and educational equipment.
child sponsorship program- we believe education is one of the key weapons in the fight against aids and poverty. This program supports especially needy orphans and vulnerable children identified by our community partners. In 2017 this program provided sponsorships for 100 children to help them stay in and succeed in school.
