Mission: The foundation raised funds to support the tri-cities cancer center's mission of treating cancer patients, supporting the patient and their family while they are dealing with cancer, and educating the community about cancer, prevention and detection.
Programs: See schedule othe tri-cities cancer center provides many services provided to cancer patients, their families and the community free of charge. These programs consist of cancer screening, early detection, prevention of cancer, navigation for patients, chaplain services, and financial counseling. In 2017 228 women were screened for breast and cervical cancer,83 people were screened for skin cancer, 87 came to screening, (56 completed colonoscopies) people were screened for colo-rectal cancer, and 202 people were screened for lung cancer. The community education program spanned all aspects of cancer treatment, prevention and early detection. There were a total of 17 educational events held in 2017 with 374 community members in attendance. Other outreach educational events attended by our staff such as health fairs were attended by 1186 community members. The tobacco cessation program was attended and completed by 35 community members. The wellfit program held for patients that have recently completed cancer treatment is a partnership with a local gym and this year 48patients took the wellfit classes. Support groups for cancer patients were attended by 702 cancer patients or family members. Other programs for cancer patients included 49 patients receiving wig styling for patients who have lost their hair, "look good. . . Feel better" program attended by 39 patients, and beginning july, 2017 22 patients received massages. Navigation services for patients offered free of charge include specially trained rn's and chaplains services. These services consist of helping patients navigate the health system to ensure prompt testing, treatment and also encompassing psych-social support and financial counseling. The chaplain navigators support the spiritual needs of patients and their families during their cancer journey. Total navigation visits in 2017 were 1958.
