Wow! This rescue is thorough to say the least. It’s obvious they care about the dogs in their care and work hard to find the best placement. I was honored to be selected to adopt my BFF in June. Everything they told me about him was accurate and helped me integrate him into my home with great success. If you’re in a hurry to adopt this is not the rescue for you. When I became frustrated with the length of the process I learned that they have no paid staff and the entire organization is ran by dedicated volunteers who have full time jobs…that was humbling. It was worth the wait!

I really appreciate Mikey's Chance Canine Rescue for their continued efforts to rescue as many dogs as possible and how they constantly push through all the mental, emotional, and financial struggles

They work incredibly hard to place dogs in their forever homes. They have a very long adoption process that is built to make people think about all the aspects of taking on the responsibility of a dog. Many find it tedious or unnecessary, but they don’t see the behind-the-scenes reasons for all these processes. They do everything they can to make sure people are committed to the dog. Sometimes it can be difficult when there are multiple homes that would be perfect for a particular dog.

My dogs are both from this rescue and I’m so grateful for all the joys and lessons they bring me daily.

I have adopted several of my dogs through this rescue. I can tell you firsthand that if you are looking for the instant gratification of a "right now" dog, this is not the rescue for you.
If you are looking for the best possible match and lifelong family member, They are the best rescue to make that happen.
The application may seem long and daunting, they ask in depth personal questions, not to pry but to make sure the dog will be the best possible match based on your expectations and everyday life style.
I would highly recommend Mikeys Chance

This place is a joke! I seriously don’t think they really want to adopt out to good homes. They don’t return any messages. When asked whats the status of your applications you’re completely ignored. Guess what lots of people have full time jobs and still give prospective adoptees the respect of on leaving them hanging in limbo land for days. Worst people ever running the show. You guys are really doing animals who need good homes a real disservice here.

This rescue is truly dedicated to the dogs! They help so many sick and injured dogs within the community. Yes, the application process is daunting and time consuming. If you are wanting a dog "right now" then the shelter or craigs list may be a better option. This rescue puts the dogs FIRST, they are committed to finding the perfect forever home and making the BEST matches for the family and the dog. An application is not a guarantee of approval but a small step in the process.

Horrible if I could give a zero rating I would. We’ve been waiting for 2 years for what feels like the perfect set of kittens for our situation. It just so happens we found them or so we thought. We contacted mikey’s chance thru Facebook detailing how happy we were how long we’ve waited, our background fostering, and how our son is now old enough to help care for a kitten so we felt it was perfect timing. We made it known that this would be our family’s Christmas gifts and that it would also help my wife with her disability and Anxiety. 24 hours went by and they contacted us saying they were available and to fill out the application. They took 24 hours and several attempts to send it. We filled it out and told them it was sent. They said once it was completed we could set up a time to meet. Then we get a message saying they are not adoptable yet despite saying earlier they were available and it would be an additional 3-4 weeks roughly (they are already 14 weeks old). I get the logistics of having their in house vet do everything but these kittens are BEHIND on both shots and neutering. Then to post and advertise they are already to be adopted and give us the false hope that we would have them possibly by Christmas broke our hearts. There are so many things wrong here. To you workers thanks for ruining Christmas. Our 4 year old had already seen the pictures and we had been talking to him about meeting his brothers.

I saw a couple of senior dogs on their platform that I thought would be a good fit for me, also a senior. I started filling out the application. It took me a long time to do. On page 6 or 7 it required five (5) references with only two being family members. I don't belong to any church or clubs so I don't have 5 references even if all 5 could be family members. Since they come to the house for an inspection, why the need for so many references? A couple of references should be enough and should be acceptable from anyone, in the family or not. A little senior dog will miss out on being adopted because of their stringent rules. Nobody can tell me it takes 5 references to tell if a person would make a good pet owner or not.

Horrible experience with Mickeys chance. I will no longer support them nor will I ever send anyone to them or Speak nicely of this organization. It looks like a show to me. I emailed a surrender form to them September 4th 2019 about a dog that has been abused and dropped off at my house. I did not hear anything back for a few days so I sent an email finally September 12th I received an e-mail about how long I could hold him. After already telling them I can not have dogs where I am living. Here it is the 19th of September and I then again messaged them as they have not responded. She tells me she has no spots. If this is the case why not say that two weeks ago?! You put on a show that you care and help these animals I call bullshit.

I’ve been following Mikey’s Chance rescue for many years. They have never disappointed me!!! I have fostered a few dogs for them, and they were always there to assist in my foster dog’s needs and anything that I needed for their rescue dog! Mikey’s Chance has the best adoption process that I’ve ever seen in any rescue. They are very thorough, work hard to ensure a good family match with each pet, and never rush into getting the rescue dog adopted as soon as possible. I have so much trust and confidence in this rescue group and the rescue leadership team! They all work very well together, have the same goals, and are always honest about the personality of each and every pet so that potential adopters know what to expect. I absolutely LOVE this rescue!

Mikey's Chance has a great adoption process.

I foster and I'm a foster fail. I adopted my childhood dream dog!

I love how they share all the positive and negatives about each dog. You know exactly what to expect when you bring your dog home.

As a foster I also love how thoroughly they look into potential adopters. I feel confident all the dogs I foster will go to homes that will be forever!

Mikey’s Chance is an amazing rescue that led me to adopt my pup Leo(used to be King). The adoption process was easy and painless. Leo was well taken care of as a puppy. They truly try to find a loving and healthy home for their animals. I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a new addition to the family.

I started fostering with Mikey’s in November of 2014 and it has been an AMAZING experience from the get go. We have even adopted one of their dogs for our own and we love her very much! Every application is reviewed throughly and people get denied for a variety of reasons but trust me when I say it is ALWAYS in the best interest of the animals. Mikey’s main goal is placing the animals in the best home possible, not about flipping puppies and making a profit. They genuinely care and we all work hard at it aside from having our own jobs and families. The process to place dogs takes time as it should and anyone upset about how long it takes, isnt thinking of the dogs. For those with nothing nice to say, I suggest volunteering with us and seeing what really goes on behind the scene, I guarantee your opinions would change

Mikeys Chance canine rescue is a truly compassionate and caring rescue. They take the time to properly vet everyone who volunteers and adopts. Currently we have one dog from Mikeys Chance, who is truly a member of our family. They work hard to help every animal they possibly can and find the best home for them.

I have been following Mikey’s Chance for several years. I have helped at events, fostered a few times and helped transport a few times as well. This rescue works hard to help as many dogs as possible every day. They may not be able to make everyone happy but they are there for the dogs. Pulling dogs from deplorable situations and putting them in fosters. Getting them needed vet care and medicines when ever possible . If you don’t like the way they do their application process too bad. You aren’t the one flipping the bill and spending your time every day caring for these animals and dealing with self centered people who think that their application should be reviewed within 24 hours and given a dog within 48 hours or less.
Volunteer for them. Get a real idea of what their day to day looks like. Get involved and be a part of the solution and not part of the problem. The animals come first and what’s best for each and every one might not be what you think is right but let’s be clear, Mikey’s does what’s best for every single ANIMAL they can possibly help. It isn’t about the application it’s about the process
This rescue is amazing and works hard every single day to make the lives of these dogs better.

Over the last 6 years, I have adopted three dogs from Mikey’s Chance. In every case, I have been grateful that the organization took the time to understand the what we had to offer as well as the type of dog we hoped to adopt. The organization has taken the time to vet adopters to help support good, lifelong matches. I am grateful for the care they take on behalf of the dogs. We adore our Mikey’s Chance pups, and sincerely and happily recommend this organization.

Horrible, emotional experience with Mikey’s Chance. Poor communication from the organization. We were very open and honest about everything, filled out an application and had time spent on multiple interviews, calling lots of references, donor money spent on back ground checks that all came back clear, just to be suddenly denied out of the blue. Reason given, we didn’t have another dog already for the new dog to play with. Which they knew from the beginning. They said he was destructive, which his foster denied. Adopt from another rescue/shelter that actually cares about wanting to find good homes for their animals. I wouldn’t even donate to this organization after being lied to.

I always thought this rescue was a great non profit. I have been rescuing dogs in serious need for quite some time myself. Since i am a renter i can only have 2 dogs at one time. One of our dogs is our forever furbaby. leaving me room to take on one dog at a time in transitioning them from severely IN NEED to an agency more capable of finding them THE RIGHT forever home and helping get them altered and immediate vet care. i had emailed them on 2 occasions now with the same dog. they said they would forward to intake and someone would get back to me. on both occasions i was never followed up with. not even "hey we are full have you tried this..." or "we can put you on a waiting list" i even offered to be a foster for the dog as I have done if i surrender found pups with POPP! I do not want to be forced to try rehoming this little dog through craigslist and am very disapointed with the lack of help in this community for dogs who have been left abandoned, dumped off, starved, etc. That being said i cannot keep this small dog unfortunately. she is a great fit for anotger family and im just hoping either mikey's gets back to me or ill have to try some other avenues.

Mikey’s Chance operates in a geographical area where there is a huge need to help unwanted dogs and therefore even my modest donations go a long way to help compared with other rescues. In my experience they provide more details of a dog’s personality than I’ve noticed with other recues and operate ethically – they do not target just those easy to adopt puppies to get impressively high adoption numbers, but among their available dogs you will see adult dogs and dogs of diverse breed make up. For this reason I have been a supporter and volunteer with them for 5 years so far as occasional foster, grant requestor, and providing support through payroll donations (thankfully my company – Microsoft – matches $ for $). Along the way, I’ve adopted not one but TWO dogs that Mikey’s Chance helped pull out of their long term shelter stay just in time.

I have been a volunteer with Mikeys Chance for over 2 years. They are very compassionate and strive to make perfect matches between Families and dogs that have rescued from the streets and kill shelters. They take time and care to make sure each dog is spayed/neutered and vaccinated before leaving for their forever home. Each dog has been loving cared for in private foster homes, time is taken to learn their unique personalities and they are helped to overcome any obstacles that may get in the way of finding a forever home.

Mikeys Chance is a compassionate dog rescue with the unique ability to match a dog and a family with equal love and companionship. Mikeys Chance ensures that all dogs are evaluated by a qualified vet and that the dogs no longer add to the growing population of abandoned, discarded and unwanted dogs. I have been a supporter since 2010 and now serve on the Board of Directors. I love these people almost as much as I love dogs!

Mikey's Chance is dedicated to rescuing dogs from untenable situations, and placing them in homes where the needs and lifestyle of the humans match the needs and temperament of the individual dog.

Mikey's Chance is a registered non-profit organization, headquartered in the Tri-Cities in south-central Washington State. They focus mainly on saving dogs that are at risk in our region and placing them with adopters throughout the Pacific Northwest. Most of our dogs come from Central Washington shelters, where they are typically long-term residents facing the threat of death row. Others are released by private individuals who need to rehome their own dogs or find homes for strays that they want to help.

These dogs are not held in a kennel facility. All the dogs live in private foster homes, where they receive loving care, socialization and training. A few that come with significant behavioral issues receive professional training and rehabilitation. All dogs are sterilized, fully vaccinated, microchipped and treated for internal and external parasites, and many receive other necessary vet care.

This Rescue's goal is to find the best possible match between dog and human. They believe the best way to do this is by openly sharing information. They disclose everything they know about the dogs in their program, and in return seek to know everything relevant about potential adopters. Their thorough, painstaking adoption process ensures that when their dogs go home, it really is forever.
