Programs: Hmo formerly provided comprehensive medical services to low-income and elderly persons in dade county and southern florida who subscribed as individuals or as part of an employer group as well as state medicaid recipients. In 2010, total health choice sold its medicaid line of business and is currently in the process of winding down its commercial line of business. The last commercial contracts were satisfied in september 2011. Previously, the organization also: - encouraged participation in a supervised weight loss program for adults and adolescents by paying for the weight watchers plan. - assisted with community, church and employer sponsored health fairs which include many health screenings. Provided materials to attendees for various health conditions and diseases to assist in healthier lifestyles. - educated members on numerous diseases to enable members to better care for themselves and improve the management of their condition. - distributed health brochures to community health fairs, employer groups and physician offices. - encouraged smoking cessation through various means and participation in programs offered by the state. Provided payment for medications to assist in the breaking of addiction. - published the good health gazzette on a quarterly basis to the membership and physicians containing articles on nutrition, weight loss, health screenings and other healthcare matters. - educated expectant mothers related to their pregnancy and the care and development of their newborn.
