I came to the Wellness Community through my sister's recommendation. She felt that it would provide me with additional support after my diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer. I am so pleased that I followed up. Throughout my visits, the staff, volunteers, and other clients have offered me additional knowledge, comfort, and true caring. Their assistance and support enables me to stay on a more even keel when faced with life-threatening disease.

I found the wellness Community six months after my first round of chemo. I felt immediately at home, mainly due to the staff and the very welcoming feeling that permeates the facility. After one year in remission I have recurrent disease and without the kindness and love of the support group I would have found life a lot harder to navigate. I feel blessed that the wellness community is on my side.

The Wellness community/DC offers a fabulous service for cancer survivors and their adult family members and it's all for free. The educational programs are relevant and well run, the mind-body classes are led by professionals and do reduce stress, and the support groups are led by experienced and caring professionals.

We discovered The Wellness Community when we picked up a brochure at our oncologist’s office. What a find! My husband was in the midst of chemotherapy and radiation treatments for colon cancer when we dropped in for a Gentle Yoga class for those with cancer and their caregivers. The instructor was and is terrific, the warmth of all the workers at TWC incredible, and the atmosphere beautiful and soothing. It was a source of excellent information and comfort. We have participated in a number of the programs offered, which have included, exercise, support, informational talks on nutrition and treatment, and fun gatherings of music and food. We can’t say enough about how special it is. And, it is all offered free of charge! Several years earlier, I had endured two separate episodes and surgeries for breast cancers and I truly had felt the need for support from a place like TWC, but was unable to find that. TWC fills a need that, I feel, every cancer patient and caregiver should have the opportunity to experience. We are so grateful for the presence of this wonderful organization.
