We provide no-cost advocacy, forensic exams, trauma counseling, and education to support survivors, promote their healing, and work with the community to prevent violence. Advocacy Program: We provide crisis intervention, emotional support, information, and referrals through our 24/7 crisis hotline 1-800-886-7273 and in-person walk-in services available during business hours. Additionally, we provide on-call hospital advocacy and accompaniment for those obtaining a sexual assault forensic exam. Our legal advocacy and accompaniment program ensures that survivors are aware of their rights and have advocates available during law enforcement interviews and court appearances. Forensic Exams: The Turning Point has contracts with 16 hospitals and two college student health centers to provide sexual assault nurse examiners and advocates for survivors seeking a sexual assault forensic examination (SAFE). We also provide forensic exams at our on-site forensic clinic – Courtney’s SAFE Place. Courtney’s SAFE Place is the only clinic in North Texas solely dedicated to serving survivors of sexual assault and provides all services and medications at no-cost. Counseling Program: We provide trauma intensive counseling for all those impacted by sexual assault regardless of when the assault occurred. Services include remote and in-person individual therapy along with group therapy and support groups for survivors, teen survivors, and family and friends of survivors. All our therapists are skilled in trauma-focused care, are EMDR-trained, and have received master’s or doctoral level training. Education Program: We provide a range of training and education programs to raise awareness on the dynamics and prevalence of sexual violence to community members and organizations. Additionally, we provide training to medical and law enforcement professionals on trauma-informed responses. Our violence prevention programs target youth, young adults, and youth-serving adults and employ a community-based approach. Volunteers and donors are critical to the success of our mission to support survivors and help them heal, while we strengthen our communities and prevent sexual violence before it occurs.
