Programs: Emergency shelter - the light house operates a 24,000 square foot residential living facility which opened in 2010. The custom-designed facility houses 15 women, 30 men and five families with up to 20 children on an emergency basis. Food and shelter are provided along with onsite supportive services including case management, ged classes, computer training, empowerment and parenting classes, art classes, addictions counseling, as well as housing and job search support. The facility also has a library, community room and outdoor spaces including playground, a healing garden and a vegetable garden. Light house also participates in a consortium to provide winter shelter during the coldest months of the year.
restaurant operations - the light house bistro (the "bistro") is a self-sustaining and revenue generating social enterprise that supports the ongoing workforce development and housing programs at the light house. The bistro opened on february 27, 2017 and is located on the property of the former shelter at 202 west street in annapolis, md. The light house bistro is a 50-seat full-service restaurant that provides employment opportunities for over 40 workforce development graduates. The bistro is also home to b. E. S. T. Catering's advanced culinary catering kitchen.
job training - the light house operates the b. E. S. T. Job training program in its flagship building. Participants in the 14-week b. E. S. T. Program receive job-specific skills in the areas of culinary arts, facilities maintenance and landscaping as well as soft skills in communications, networking, resume writing and job readiness. Graduates of the program receive job placement support.
