Mission: Interact is a private, nonprofit agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault. The agency provides three 24-hour crisis lines, group and individual counseling, bilingual counseling, specialized children's counseling, case management, court and hospital advocacy, professional training, and a full curriculum of violence prevention in the wake county schools. Interact also operates wake county's (raleigh) only emergency domestic violence shelter program for women and children, and north carolina's first community-based sexual assault forensic examination center. In 2009, interact led efforts to form a ten member collaborative partnership to help provide comprehensive, wraparound services for victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault in a new 60,000 sft facility called the interact family safety & empowerment center. Programs: Interact initiated a new family safety & empowerment center program, now widely recognized as a national model of collaboration. Families struggling with domestic and sexual abuse come to the center and not only receive interact's crisis intervention services, but also a full array of coordinated wraparound services from eight community partners, all in one location and under one roof, allowing them to continue on to create safe and stable lives through these long-term supports. The center tripled interact's capacity to serve victims and survivors.
